the compass doesnt work. It just says: nor target.

If you do not give it one, why would it have one?
Select a point on the map, then 'navigate to' and you have your target. :-)
I thought I can just use the compass to see where north is
for me it work also without selected target, check your settings

Without a target it works as a simple compass

The compass works for me without a target. What phone have you got and does the inbuilt compass work with other compass apps?
