Hi, strange problem with this version. When downloading the library on startup Locus says unknown problem, can't establish a connection. Error code 1151,7. Network is accessible. Same with 3G as with WiFi. Repeating more times and still same. I was able to download the library with Locus beta on first try.
Anybody else has the same issue?

Just downloaded this version as an update for my locus free, thinking it was a new beta version.
When starting the app i was asked to choose the locus folder, but the only one i could choose was sdcard/locus, whereas my locus folder is sdcard/external_sd/locus. So now locus does not have any of my maps or settings. I tried the new option to choose the locus root folder and it offers me two folders: /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard/android/data/menion.android.locus/files - both are wrong though. there is also a warning that the folder (i am guessing that it only applies to the second choice) will be deleted when uninstalling locus.
Luckily it´s only the free version and i can still use my locus pro, but i am guessing that this might also apply to other users who would now be stuck with a locus version where they can´t choose the correct locus root folder.
I am guessing that this has to do with the Sd card issues with latest android version. But why wasn´t this a part of the latest beta instead of applying these changes in a release version?
I thought that´s what the beta testing was for - to avoid problems like this.

Very little minor bug:
Slider for opacity in WMS maps can't actually be slided, just listens for taps. Sliding focuses the sidebar.

@bucky kid: damn, seems to be problem with signature of request. Aren't you using any custom ROM, modified Google Play application? By responses on server seems, you're not alone :/

@eldron: also interesting. Mainly because there were no chance in testing directories between version except one tiny change that should be only a cosmetic. Hmmf, hard life of hacking Android system and searching for correct dirs ...

If you used previously "Offline POI" beta feature, to use it you, had to download small library (it was first step in Offline POI screen). And this library is now included in Locus itself. Partially.

EDIT: ah, and + 5MB library .. it's not precisely true. It depend on type of device you have. If you have classic ARM processor, then you download just around 0.5 MB. 5 MB is just incorrect text value because Locus in that moment do not know how big file will download

Reading hgt-files and drawing diagram is expressively fast. Nice work!

I updated both Free and Pro versions of Locus I have and it seems that Pro version for some reason duplicates maps I have under tab "Osobní" ("Personal"), so now I have some maps listed there twice:

After update on 3.1.1. Locus crashes during start procedure.

I usually show elevation value under 'line to GPS' with map_items_line_to_gps_value_below=4 in config.cfg. As far as I understand the elevation value is calculated by
    1) before GPS fix: (SRTM height at screen center) - (SRTM height at current location)
    2) afger GPS fix: (SRTM height at screen center) - (GPS height at current location).
The 2) sometimes gives strange elevation value because GPS height accuracy is usually poor. I think always calculate by 1) is better unless you are flying.

Mainly not because GPS is inaccurate, but because altitude from GPS and altitude from SRTM should be quite different. Mainly if you don't have enabled corrections in Altitude manager. So it make sense, to have both ends of lines in same "Altitude system".

I've changed it, so now both points will be always computed from SRTM.

One tiny issue in GPS screen. If GPS is enabled or disabled by tapping sky view circle, the text written at the bottom button doesn't change.

Not that I want to appear impatient, but I plan a biketour starting on friday so I have to do some preparation for that.
Can I expect a fixed version until thursday or do I have to think about alternatives? (I still have a free version installed but have not used it for years...)
Is there a simple method to step back to the previous version?

I too have a little problem with vector maps download from your server:
I have a Android 4.4.4 rooted with full r/w access to the extern SDCard1.

The main Locus dir is on storage/sdcard0 (= storage/emulated/0)
My map dir is on storage/sdcard1/Locus/mapsVector/...
If I download newer vector map versions from your server  then they all are stored in the (empty) mapsVector dir on the main directory.
So I have to copy the maps from SDCard0 to SDCard1.



Edit: In earlier versions I could see if there were updates available for my vector maps.

downloading vector maps to other then default folder was never possible. So there is no change. Some more customization of various directories is currently not possible at all, except main root folder.

Seems that 3.1 version will be my nightmare. I spend three full days by testing and fixing and now after update I again see some one star ratings because of "crash at start". Has anyone same experience? Thanks

I have started it a few times with different items visible and no problem on Xperia p, stock Ics.
However I can remember that I have seen once! a crash at start not so long ago but before the newest version. (Maybe a month ago, but then it started all right for the second time)

Saw some crashes when working with Geocaches in the last weeks (updating, filtering etc), but I'm still on 3.0.2 and wanted to update before reporting them. Anyway, no crash at startup...

at first start after update  on a Defy (2.2.2) I had some strange behaviour: I got a dialog "Filesystem: Änderungen im Locus Verzeichnis gefunden! Wähle ein Standard Locus Verzeichnis".
I could not select any file system, so I could not confirm and close the dialog. Instead I got a message "Probleme mit Arbeitsverzeichnis" (=Problem with working directory).

I started Locus again and it started without any troubles, but after download of additional files (!?)...
However... :-) :-D
I could not do any further tests, hope it works, next test will be in the mountains ;-)

However, thanks again for all your effort!

P.S.: By the way: When updating via Play store Locus does not Need any special rights. This is quite strange in my opinion. Is this new?!

Same problem as shushuk has (just the post above):
ver. 3.1.2: after the update "Please choose default Locus directory" shows an empty list.
At the ,,found changes in Locus directories" screen, right after ,,what's new" screen there should be a list of directories i.e. one on the internal storage and external sd card.
But after today's update there is no list. If I click confirm there I cannot continue.

Locus is unusable for me right now  :(

No probs before and after update.  I like it.

I think that the store says:"No ADDITIONAL rights". So when you update, you keep the same permissions that yuo had with the previous installed version.

I believe that if Locus is mission critical for my next adventure then I do not update it right before that.
And having a bug corrected in a few days is EXCELLENT. I do not know any other software where the support would be as quick as here, so you shouldn't worry. People will correct those stars once it is fixed :-)

thanks, I know. I'm angry mainly on myself, because it's not for the first time I published version with any serious problem. Nevermind - problem solved, enjoy new adventures ;)

Maybe next time you should publish a beta version first, when implementing such important changes, like that some of the issues and bad ratings on google play could have been prevented. ;-)
But i must say that i generally wait a few days before updating important apps to see whether anyone reports issues with the new version.

It seems that I have a problem to update Locus Pro (to 3.1.3). I tried to download it 3 times through Google Play, but installation failed. In notifications it shows me "Soubor balíčku je neplatný" ("Package file is invalid").

@eldron: I usually do this. Problem here was that it was really small changes. They were so small, that I don't even tested them .. and this was result. Next time - better.

@leschek: hmm, this is not a problem in Locus. Try to clear cache of Google Play app and restart your device. This should help.

I have one question about dashboard editor.
Unchecking 'Resize by top/bottom panel' takes effect only after restart of Locus. Is this normal?
Btw, the text color of 'Close by button "back"' and 'Resize by top/bottom panel' are gray but should be black.

uff 2.2 device and works - it's big victory :)

Over the last few days I have noticed a problem in the new version. In the Geocaching settings I use Pre-fill field notes. The format is:-
(#{c}                                              TFTC[:)])
I just start writing in the middle and save it. When I upload to GC.com I then refine it. But in the last 2  occasions I have been out, when the Field Note is uploaded the last 2 characters are missing, so the end of the field note is:- ( TFTC[: ) so I have to add the rest during the edit.

This is the first time it has happened.

interesting. I received around three emails with same (similar) issue last days. Interesting is, that version is out for a lot longer now. I also did not do any changes around this. Hmm.

Anyway system around field notes will be completely new in next Locus version, so may it will fix also this. I'm just waiting on one guy to finish his work and then you will see in new testing version (probably in wednesday next week)

Out of curiosity I made 2 dummy finds with the original settings , then added 3 period marks ( TFTC[:)]... )  to the end of the pre-fill format, and added 2 more dummy finds. As you can see in the attached gcFieldNotes.txt file the ] is missing from the first 2, but nothing is missing from the last 2. On uploading to GC.com the ) is also removed from the first 2 but nothing is removed from the last 2.     

I don't know if this helps.

Locus stop at different actions.
1. menue/settings/misc/clear temp. data > locus stop and after i click "ok" locus start himself and open menue window.
2. open GC-Tools > "Log trackables" or "load PQ´s"  > locus stop, after i click "ok" nothing more happens.
3. i open a geocache/Main Menue/GC Offlinizer/check "use Live API"/Download Offlinizer work well, but on next click on "GC-Tool button" locus also stop.
I think it depend on "LiveAPI" ???

btw: where can i find "load PQ´s" in official PRO? The "Live API button" has gone :-[

In 3.1.3 you find button "Live API" at "main menu - more - Geocaching", the very old place. ;D

On Samsung Tab 10.1 Locus free crashes during startup.

thanks for reports. I though that issue with "Clear temp data" is same as with FieldNotes so I don't even test it. And ... it wasn't. Fixed now, thanks :). (same issue is also in menu > web services).

I also found during short bike test problem with recompute of navigation, so it's not needed to repor it.

With Locus 3.1.3 I managed the "Live API"-button to work from the right panel. Each time I'm starting Locus 3.1.3.8 beta the button has gone in both versions. It's a hassle!

yes it's possible because Test and Pro version share same settings. Live API as a separate function do not exists in Test version so it's always removed from settings.

Btw. balloni, seems that Locus spend more then second on initialization of some duplicate "online maps" and some vector maps from ¨'/mnt/sdcard/external_sd/WhereYouGo/mapsVector/' , so if new WhereYouGo allows to pick maps from different folder, I suggest to move these maps (mainly themes cause troubles) to different folder.

I recently got a SGS5, software is completely stock.
There I observe a strange behaviour with Locus (both latest free and pro versions):
Open Locus (first time): The GPS button is coloured orange.
Switch off GPS in Locus GPS screen
Close Locus
Open Locus again: The GPS button is coloured orange again! On my other devices (SGS3, A4.3, Nexus 7/2013 A4.4.2) the GPS button is grey in this state.

Do others observe this behaviour, too?
If not, what can I do, to help fixing this issue?

Yes, that was the problem.

But why didn't I look for that?
Reason is simple, I exported Locus settings from previous device and imported them on S5. So I would expect that settings are the same!

I was today out of office, but now let's go back to work :). Meanwhile I was thinking about orders on reversed track - what you think, if I remove them completely?

Because roundabouts are incorrect always. There are also one-way roads that may cause troubles and many many more. Highways? Ah ... so I think it should be a lot better to remove all orders and leave track only as a plain track from points. What you think?

For me it is ok now, I tested this several times on my two devices and on BlueStacks :-)

yes it had to be done again for first start. In regular PRO version this won't happen at all after update and in next test versions also. Ok, if this (download of libs) happen to anyone on RC1 version more then once after update, try to create me a lot, thanks! (if you reset your settings, it will require download again, but it's not an issue).

As discussed a lot of times in the past. Real navigation orders (not navigation on pure tracks!) make only sense for the original track, not for the reversed one.

I have a new problem since RC1: either manual or automatic full backup fail always, I get a file with
.temp as extension.
The settings backup is ok.

I've got it, thanks tramp!

Because of Locus GIS and also new Geocaching Field Notes system, I had to improve Backup system, so it's more flexible and lot easier to extend. But just new Field Notes database (which is probably missing on your device) cause problem you have.

EDIT: if anyone will have a while and is interested in sound volume for notifications and music, may you please read this "problem" - http://help.locusmap.eu/responses/navigation-volume-control-sets-wrong-sound-type . Maybe someone is more experienced with all these volume settings and may helps me to create it "better". Thanks

At first start of 3.2  the map was black, side panels were visible, but the map itself was black. On second start it was all right.

The waypoint names are not shown upon hover. I have put back 3.1.3 and it works well there.

Black? Hmm never saw such problem ...

And hower ... I have no such problem and also no one reported this issue. Do you have corret settings in > menu > maps - objects & style - Show labels? Also it do not display even when you stop with map center on this waypoint?

Just installed it again. No problems are present. I have not changed a thing. Weird, I have tested it intentionally two times with restart before writing. But it's working now :-)

Locus 3.2 resets always to Blendmode disabled and 100% opaque :(

Aha, yes :). We created this parameter because we wanted to improve rendering for all locus themes, but also wanted to keep external themes to work as before.

So this parameter currently only change stroke in lines for every zoom as you found. So it's safe to use it. But keep in mind, that it's possible we change any other parameters in future that will be automatically influenced by this parameter.

I switched on "locus-extended" by changing the render line near the start of the theme to

The fill-sea-areas="0" avoids some unwanted artefacts with Mapsforge maps. It may well do more.
As menion says, it also makes the dashes scale in proportion on zooming in. Previously the dashes counterintuitively got smaller as you zoomed in. I used different values for stroke-dash-array at different zooms to counteract this behaviour. Now I don't need to, as long as I rewrite my theme accordingly.
For example I can replace:

I updated to  Locus Pro 3.2.0 last night and today I was out Geocaching and had 2 random FC's when logging my finds.
The first was when I rotated the screen when typing, the second was on going back to a log and editing it. All other occasion where fine, and since my return home I have tried to duplicate it but cannot.
The phone state was in Aeroplane mode, wifi off, using Locus Bluetooth GPS and no other apps running. Hopefully it was a just a glitch, the next time I am out I will try again.

Using Locus Pro 3.2.0 I have a question about offline logging of geocaches.

I set "Einstellungen --> Geocaching --> Zeitzone berücksichtigen" and the corresponding timezone to "GMT +02:00" in earlier versions of Locus Pro..
If I do so in the offline logging dialog the suggested logging time is 2 hours ahead of the actual time!?!?!

In earlier versions of Locus the suggested time was correct!?!?

Is this a bug in Locus Pro 3.2.0?
Or are the setiings I have made obsolete for Locus Pro 3.2.0?

Thanx for "reverse track". Its a long wanted feature.
Why it is only available in map with displayed track and not in track manager also? And btw. : if a track is copied within the track manager, the suffix "- copy" is added automatically. Why is there no possibility to copy the track to the same folder?

@Christian: 'copy to same folder' - I used same function as for move, where it make sense. Anyway why not - added. Just in case, you'll copy into same folder, Locus also adds 'copy' to end of name. 'Reverse' is available also in track manager, you just have to open track detail screen (simply tap on track in list)

I found that, in providers.xml, <serverPart> + {s} parameter for type=5 maps doesn't work.  On the other hand, it works for type=0 maps. I'm sure that {s} for type=5 maps worked before but I don't remember the last working version. Though it's quite minor issue, could you please check and fix it with attached providers.xml?

I got the problem in version 3.20 in Android 4.4.4 in Nexus 5 and 4.0.4 in Motorola Maxx.
The Overlays was not work.
Basemap: Sqlitedb / Vector
Overlay Sqlitedb / Vector
All Overlays setting was not functional. It would reset to 100% opaque and Blend mode Disabled

Version 3.13 is OK.

The new version appears to treat the low level world vector map differently:
a) A very basic map appears at zoom 8 and less with some towns but no roads
b) The "world" vector map I downloaded previously now appears in the list of available vector maps
Is the world vector map now built in to Locus? So I can delete the previous version?
FWIW I prefer the main roads showing as it helps location when panning, etc.

The voice guiding along tracks is corrupted in the new release. TTS is announcing only nearest 500m and 200m ('In 500 meters bear left') - that all! I tried Med and Hi version of guiding. Impossible to use ;-)

with the update to 3.2.2 the automatic (full) backup is broken: only the settings are saved (8 kB instead of 10 MB) on two devices and with the free and pro version.

Me test version exports track to /sdcard0/Locus/export/ as showed in export dialog. This is ok.
Have a small wish about the internal file picker, could it remember last used folder separately for each of dialogs? (especially locate external maps, Track/waypoints export, Track/waypoints import).
I find another inconvenience with Turn off lock screen feature, if on and lockscreen already activates in background then launching external app (camera, GPS status or whatever else) ends on gesture unlock screen. Could lockscreen be temporarily disabled on global level while running Locus in foreground instead running ontop? Lockscreen shortly appears also when switching between map screen and dialogs in Locus.

At least you should change "entfernen" or "delete" with "activate" after deleting (perhaps a translation problem, I don't know).

I save the track to the database and then export it to \locus\export. With DropSync then automatic to DropBox.

You have only changed "entfernen" with "Deaktivieren".
But I can not see if the auto export is active or not, I see always the same screen. I have to remember what I have selected long time ago :-(
Perhaps you could simply delete the export path if the auto export is deactivated.

But it is really not important.

The new track screen looks great! Now you have it all in one screen, nicely seperated into tabs and it´s a lot easier to edit.
It also unifies and simplifies the design - neat!
Just one little "problem" - when swiping to change the tabs instead of clicking on the tabs you get stuck in the diagram, as swiping there does not change tabs but changes your position on the diagram.
I also have a question about the new autozoom: It says "based on values below and current speed", but I can´t see any values below the autozoom button - are they not implemented yet or is it - once again - just me who can´t see them because of my old android version?

- problem with swip - it's intent. There is major problem with scroll of tabs and scroll in chart. Same problem was in previous version and I still don't have perfect solution for this.
- autozoom - seems you never used autozoom in previous version ;). Text you see in settings - forget on it. It's from old version and it's not valid anymore. Autozoom settings is now completely automatic! It's only required to find out ideal settings for walk/bike/car modes of navigation etc. :)

@balloni: thanks! This is really my first version and such feedback is very welcome. I'll fix these problems tomorrow.

I'm also interested if it's not a problem for you, new way how track react. Because now when you tap on track on map, this screen is automatically visible. And if you want to edit shape of track (it's points), you have to choose from bottom menu "Edit on track". It's because I think, that in most cases you want to do something with whole track and not edit it. I also wanted to unite all buttons/controls no matter if you open track from map or from data / tracks screen.

Hello, new track screen is nice but when I'm thinking about direct opening track panel on clicking track node, for me old behaviour (open edit controls on map) comes out more efficient (when I tap track node it's in most cases because I need to edit the node). Could the default action be somehow configurable through preferences or config.cfg?

It just feels nice. I just looked at it but I'm afraid I won't be able to test it nowadays.
However, you said previously that the two buttons (bottom right) will be different once the screen is redesigned. Can you please merge them? (Cogs and screwdrivers mean the same to me when I cast a blick on the icons: tools. So basically fill altitude and compute area could be moved to the other menu.
What I like about it the most is the lap statistics:simple yet really useful when you plan your energy on the trip/run.
It is a bonus that now the design is more consistent! :-)

New track manager looks very nice!  Here is something I've noticed so far.

- INFORMATION tab
1) The 'Created' in DETAILS wrongly shows the current time.
2) I expect map screen is opened by tapping the track preview, as same as point preview in point manager.

- LAPS tab
1) Button at Top-Right: Since the values of the pre-defined interbal are written in kilo-meter, I think it's natural that 'Define' accepts the value in kilo-meter as well.
2) If the Length units in Locus is set other than metric, the values of the distance are shown without formatting.

ah sorry, yes it currently depend only on speed. Only in case, you're guiding to single waypoint and you're closer then 2 km, it then depend only on distance to this waypoint.

I hope that dependance on speed may be enough. It's just important to set best possible average values for certain speed & zoom values. Currently I defined 0 km/h - zoom 18, 30 km/h - 17, 100 km/h - 16, 200 km/h - 13. And Locus interpolate between these values.

You announced this beta with a hint to backup database, I would be helpful to say too that the actual pro version can use this database after updating the beta.
I was a  little concerned about it but I see no difference till now.

The new track screen is great !!! It is worth a new subversion number...

Though I have three remarks.
a) On the track list the preview is not seen before the track has been opened. Would it be possible to create it in the background? I know that Android is quite poor in multitasking (multithreading probably not possible?) but probably it could be done.
b) When the track has been opened the track preview is partially hidden. Is my low resolution device the problem?
c) When the track has been opened one track preview doesn't have a map underlay

Even on a low-low-performance device (Samsung Gio) the track preview works smooth.

@tramp: database in BETA version for tracks, was little bit updated (because of need to store small track overviews). So I was just worried, in case there should be any problem with it. But seems that all works correctly. And yes, updated database is backward compatible with "older" Locus Pro, there should be no problem.

1) I was thinking about it a lot. It's not a problem of multitasking. But imagine you import 100+ tracks from any GPX file. Every generating of overview may consume quite a lot of time now (maybe up to 2 seconds based on device), so you should have for almost 3 minutes running some crazy task on background that will generate small maps for tracks, even if you don't need it. On second side, imagine you have empty database. Then every recorded track, every manually created track directly in Locus, will have this overview automatically generated, because you always have to display screen with track detail. So I generally this, that some automatic tool that will generate overview is not needed.

Yes, I know, people would be shocked if Locus stopped responding because of this. However a menu item above load tracks for generating missing track info for selected tracks would be nice.
This way the user knows that it will take a long time (possible confirmation dialog), but he will be able to see his tracks filled up with info instead of question marks.
Maybe Locus could offer this once for all the tracks when this update comes.

1) puzzle icon - it has same purpose as in points screen - contain 3rd party apps. In this case, there should be only Google Earth if is installed. Have to remove this button in case, there is nothing to display. Thanks

I forgot to mention one thing this morning. I have absolutely no idea if and how the following could be realised, but usually menion has it.

When I click in the track list on the track thumbnail preview and open the track details and then click on the track preview the track is shown on the big map. Would it be somehow possible to go back to the track list to view a next track without going through Options - Data - Tracks - Folder?

No, not a real problem, of course. But on the first track I opened, the target area was not easy to recognize and the city Name not really readable. So I immediately had the feeling that there is something wrong.
Of course your approach saves space and I only have a small Display. Probably you could increse the transpareny a little?

Hmmhhh. When I tap the back button (the one on the device) I'm asked if I want to close Locus.
The action bar is the one at the bottom? There I don't have 'home', but from left Moving Map, Orientation of Map, Zoom In and Out, Lock. Is device Resolution to low for further button(s)?

About back button - interesting. Check my screenshot. Two red areas on my screen leads back to list of tracks. Top panel is called "action bar" and it should work on all devices. Bottom button is visible on screen only on devices without hardware back button, anyway functionality should be same. So if you press "Back" on this screen, Locus should always just hide this screen and not offer "Do you want to close Locus". Weird.

Anyway are we talking about - Data manager > tab Tracks > in list of all tracks in folder, tap on any track > Track detail screen. And from here you want to simply return back one step to list of tracks right?

I was going one step further and had a look at the track on the 'real' map and not the overview on the track information screen. After having a look at details of the track on the map I would want to go on with details of the next track. And I think it is not a simple task for GUI design and logic to come back to the track list in the last selected folder.

i am not able to delete one or more selected tracks in trackfolder.
e.g. i select one track (blue eye) /screwdriver/Delete/confirm top right/ "do you really want to delete 1 Track"/Delete
nothing happen.
It is only possible to delete a single track in tab "Information" right down arrow/delete

It is normal behavior, if you are in "mapview" and click return, locus ask you to  "EXIT" (depending on settings)

The new track overview is a nice idea, you have some important information at a glance. But I am not sure if the question mark is a good choice when no map is shown.
Locus also crashed once, whilst i was playing around with the tracks and track overview. I think i marked some tracks and hit "load tracks" when it crashed, but i am not sure and so far it hasn´t happened again.

Also anyone with design heart? I need some feedback. Because list of tracks now works in different way (it was really longly planned - required change to get rid of double function of checkbox and also improve list itself), I needs to change a list of points in same way.

Current result is on screenshot. There is a lot less points on one screen at once, on second side there should be no problems with small screens and it should be also more clear. Feedback is needed, because it's YOU who will mainly use it :). Thanks

clock icon in POI list is usually date when POI/cache was created, but it's switched for different values, based on current sorting. Thanks for fix, show track on map works good for raster maps without zoom level available. But fit whole track on screen is not possible in that case. Imagine circular track with big radius. Locating track on map jumps in the middle, seing no track segment and possibly far from any segment. I suggest to jump to track start point and select to zoom 100% if selected raster map doesn't allow show whole track on display.
- I'm still looking for easiest way to get into track editing. Now it takes 3 taps to get there. Could tapping to track preview window jump into track editing mode instead locate track on map?

Previous dual-function checkbox was a lot more confusing because it was used for display points and also for a selection for these functions.

That's a matter of taste, of course. To me, it's intuitive to select some items first and then run an action on it. If the action is destructive, there might be an extra confirmation ("do you really want to...") optionally with an option to skip this confirmation in the future ("do not show this question again"). Now, it's the other way round: first select the action and then the items, then confirm...

I could get used to it, no problem. But (at least) to me, it's not intuitive.  ;)

understand. In this case, it's only switched order. Can't imagine now, how it can be done in Locus, but everything is possible. So if majority will feel, that firstly you should select and then choose action and that it will be a lot better, I should try to find a solution ... (mainly solution how to clearly start multi-selection)

In the new beta, I'm experiencing problems filtering. If I try to get it to show my "found" caches or "archived" caches, it  just returns the full database.

ah you're the last from who I expect this :). I'm sure you know more about Locus then 99% of other users. It's just that sometimes, there is too much options, so it's little bit "hidden" under some "tools" buttons.

if i activate "rotate map" the mapcursor is not visible, with map "north" up  the mapcursor is displayed.

My feedback aboug new Point/Track lists: Needs more space so I see less entries. Could there be a selectable compact view?
And at geocaches list: I miss the containef size (this is more important for me than the creation date of the geocache).
How about selecting the details to show in the list?

how about firstly try to find compromise?

mambo, I was thinking about till whole evening and have to say, you are right! So till deep night, I was changing whole system to new solution and I'm sure, you all will like it :). So today afternoon, another version.

Diky za prácu na novej verzii, menion. Tak ako v predchádzajúcej, ani v tej dnešnej v.3.2.3.3 mi žiaľ nefunguje korektne spájanie trackov. Po potvrdení spájania sa objaví hláška o úspechu akcie, ale vytvorí sa prázdny záznam o tracku so špatným dátumom. V predchádzajúcej verzii Lokus po otvorení nového tracku úplne spadol, teraz sice nepadne, ale všetky informácie okrem špatného dátumu vytvorenia sú nulové. V zozname trackov je názov nového tracku so správnym dátumom.

Úžasné, ty rýchlejšie updatuješ ako ja sťahujem. V novej v.3.2.3.4 je zlučovanie trackov v poriadku. Privítal by som ešte, aby sa zo zobrazenia tracku dalo prekliknut do zoznamu.

Trackinfo, some values are partly conceled. Imported tracks display wrong values (e.g. speed) if so it would be better to ignore it

one more offset problem with LAPS:
if i click on the first lap "show on map", the second is blue displayed and so on and if i click on the last lap locus stop!

Red, green and blue lap parts are good to see on map, but the grey are difficult to see on map, so please change this color

Start of navigation based on any brouter created track => Locus Free crashes reproducible on both Nexus 7 and S5.
Crash in Locus Free 3.2.3.4, functional in Locus Pro latest.

@Menion  x-axis in track diagram:

It would be fine, if the x-axis in the trackdiagram could be scaled in real time segments or at least in 30min segments and not 100min segments. See attachment 2.

It also would be nice, if it es possible to show starttime of track and endtime of track into the information window under details.

In the Geocache list, sorted by date, there is a clock icon next to the date. Since this is a date only, a small calendar icon would be clearer.

- direction arrows: I was thinking about it since first list with points/tracks was done (few years ago). For my surprise, not a lot (almost none) complain about current solution. Display real-time bearing require permanently enabled hardware compass and quite often refresh of the whole list ... is this what you want? Me not. And because you are first after long time who ask for this, it looks for me that not much people wants this ...

@gynta, @balloni: invalid values in stats ... thanks. Another place that needs improvements, done. Fields will be visible only in case, there is any non-zero speed. Same for elevation part.

@balloni: problem with laps - thanks. I found out that it's quite weird system in Android. Small header in list (with 'Distance', 'Time' and other texts), is counted as one real line, so whole index in list is moved by one. Nevermind - hope, now finally fixed.

About color of grey parts - usually on a map is already visible track, so this grey track should just overlay over existing track. They also should not too much visible, becuase interestings are only blue, red, green segments. Isn't it?

@silber1: "Erstellt" value should be equal to "Created" time, so it's usually time when first point of track was created (recorded).

About chart: understand, but it comes from everyone type of usage. I for example don't care about when I was at certain place on track (like in 15:12), but usually care about how much time it took from start to this point. So sorry, but I cannot change scale of X axis from one unit to different. Only possibility is to add some settings there, but how many people is interested in this? Hard to say :). That's why voting system on help-desk exists

OK understand, another idea: delete the grey overlay so the track is displayed in color user has selected  ;)
and display only red, blue ,green laps as overlay.

I also agree with clicable area by balloni55. It is more interactive.
Same on list of POIs - with click on icon POI is displayed centered on mapview.
On detail view absent clicable area for jamp to list view. That line of category is good for it, by my opinion.

I was testing a bit 3.2.2.4 beta today as for "navigate on all tracks" feature.
What I find brilliant is adjusted navigation commands for hiking and biking - now issued in optional distances 400m, 100m,  50m and right at the turning. This is more than sufficient (now I don't miss the turning point surely) - thanks!
The only problem is that the command at the turning is sometimes issued after the turning, the same for 50m before - sometimes almost at the turning but this can be due to gps chip slowness.
What is not working at all is notification about lost track - used TTS - silent all the time though the navigation knows lost the track (question mark as navigation symbol). TTS engine test in preferences is success.

Addon "locus-satellite images"
it s only possible to download satimages for geocache listing coords, or corrected coords (e.g. Mystery).
So option (also in pro) "Download Satellitenkarten" make no sense in waypoints and normal POI´s

Step by step for Menion:
Select a track from track list, in my example one with 40km length which was created with brouter.
Tap on the  guiding arrow and then tap on navigate. Confirm it has no navigation instructions and start navigate with high number of instructions. => crash,  reproducibly, on S5 and N7,also with other tracks like one created during Jogging.

I know this is a bit in contradiction to what Bucky kid writes, but this is how it doesn't work for me

Quite similar to what I did, thanks Gynta. However I sent log to Menion as proposed.
In the log it looks that the parser for *.tts has changed.
I'm curious about Menion's findings.

Menion, did you touch how caches are imported? I have tried to import the same file under pro and beta, and in beta my geocaches+points were messed up.  :-(
(points did not become waypoints but appeared as separate points)

Try to import the file in the current pro version, it should result in 132 caches, which is perfect. In beta it gives 500+ points.

There is a <groundspeak:type> so it's possible to set correct icon in list of logs.

Ohh, I changed the folder's style, and the tracks inherit that. So I did not change the track itself.

@balloni: issue with times is interesting. Times are formatted by some system function that is based on your current device language. Locus personally do not have direct influence on this format. And centering of track - congratulation you found such hidden issue and thanks for perfect step-by-step instructions - fixed

@0709: hehe, I think I read this few days ago in one of your loooong post and because I just tested generated navigation and waypoints had no names, I set them to generated orders.

About source for it's name - currently name is defined by translated text in application, but I see no problem to switch primary source to TTS files. So if you use own *.tts file, it will be used (as well as for speach) also for naming of waypoint

But how can I store the setting? It seems Locus doesn't remember it.

@gynta: I know I didn't fix issue you wrote on dropbox. I wanted to release a new version today, but not had enough time on dropbox. Sorry, tomorrow.

@balloni: previews are generated from vector maps, so if you have track on place where do not exists vector map, this may be the reason. Or Locus is not able to find correct vector map (second possibility)

OK, I give it a try :
First tab: set opacity to 40%
Second tab: pick white color by moving the dot to the upper left corner and then tap on the right bar showing the new color white.

Another topic regarding line style: the outline makes in my opinion much more sense if it behaves as an outline of a basic line even if the actual line is a dotted line

Second tab: pick white color by moving the dot to the upper left corner and then tap on the right bar showing the new color white.

both tabs are independent and both tabs has own transparency. If you set transparency in first 'basic' tab, it has no effect on second 'advanced' tab. Opposite same

About outlne - sorry, don't understand. It's just on you if you define line as basic full line or dotted or not? Maybe some screenshot what you wants to say? Thanks

Ok, got it now regarding individual transparency settings. Not nice to use completely different GUI elements for the same purpose. But I guess the reason is that the extended color dialogue comes from a library and the one from the basic color tab is a home made one.

Regarding the outline for dotted line: imagine to use a highlighter on a paper map. Should be clear now

sorry, i don´t think so :D all my track are inside germany and i use Vectormap from locus store.

I played a little and suspect, depending of my former "map display problem":
at first opening of a track it was displayed without map in preview and this info is cached.

If i  open a "new" track with "? in preview" first time, locus display track and map preview well :)

How can i refrech this data?" Clear temp data" and new start of device doesn´t solve this.

ah I though we talk about newly generated previews :). These images are stored directly in DB so clear temp directory or anything like this won't help. Simply tap on track, tap on it's style, tap ok, close screen by back. Or if you use style of folder, just change style of this folder to reset overviews of all tracks that has "Use style of folder" enabled.

Another behavior i notized after locus hast stopped/crached:
After new start i get no satfix although i have enaugh sats in sight.

"autozoom" example:
map is displayed with ZL15, map is centered and target is also visible. i select targe/POI "guide on" and walk on, after a short time map is zoomed automatic to ZL17 althhough ZL16 is als available!
Now my possition is at the lower edge and i can´t see distance and bearing value and the target is not visible.
In my understanding locus should change to next higher zoomlevel if my possition and target possition can be displayed on display including distance and bearing value.

@0709: I tried exported TCX in BaseCamp application and it works correctly. Becuase we with specification of this format seems not to work, I have no idea where is issue now. But, it's not a big problem :)

autozoom - problem on your screenshot is with rotate of map. If you disable it, your and waypoint location will be visible correctly. I know about this issue - have to fix it

on second 12 my position and target is visible, not centered and without values
on second 13 my position is centered values are visible but not the target ???

And problem with auto-zoom on video, it's very interesting. I don't know why Locus centered in last second back on your location. This should happen only when you are staying without move or far away from waypoint for more then 2000m. I have to try it in the field

@0709: oki, tcx export also improved, so now it should be OK together with navigation points ;)

Issue with Track Statistics:
I created a track which contains a track point with an elevation of 2450m:
<trkpt lat="47.449657" lon="11.338061">
   <ele>2450.25</ele>
   <time>2014-09-29T17:37:08Z</time>
</trkpt>

But the statistics shows only a maximum altitude of 2419m.

Similar issue with minimum: the first trackpoint is at 913,74m but statistics says 919m.

Tested with 3.2.3.7+8

And a question regarding the same track from my previous post:
The calculated distance from the statistics: it doesn't seem to consider the change of altitude, it seems to be calculated just from latitude and longitude, not from altitude as the same track just without the <ele> tags gives the same distance.

Is this intentional?
Could you also provide the correct distance including the altitude (Pythagoras :-))

@tommi: statistics you see are little bit modified. This is done to reduce huge noises that happen during recording. So in your case, point with highest altitude probably has a big altitude difference compare to points around, so it was rounded a lot to this lower value.

And about compute of distance. It's correct. Currently all distances in Locus are computed only in flat. Anyway it's a question if compute should be done with real altitudes or flat is what you (users) expect.

i have map centered with satfix, now i select a track "show on map" which is outside of the displayed map .
Track is centered on map visible only for a very short time, after that map is centered again on my possition.
I woud expect that "center map" is automatic disabled if user select "display track on map" to take a look on it.

About color picker ... I think it work in same way in advanced tab. You also has to tap on color to confirm change.

Ok, I understand this is not a bug but should be a feature.

Let me explain my usecase for the statistics: I plan mountain hiking tours based on Locus. Both diagram with the track profile and statistics with total distance and meters up play a big role here. These tracks are no recorded ones but drawn with the help of e.g. brouter and afterwards updated altitude with hgt 1" data from Locus/srtm folder. Even this data source has not yet the highest peaks in it. E.g. the altitude of the mountain peak in this track is 2476 m while the hgt data has 2450 m and Locus reduces the maximum again to 2419 m. So the statistics isn't too helpful.

For track recording you have defined a filter, right? This should do what you want. Why is it necessary to filter the statistics again?
And if you think you need the filter the track because it might have been recorded outside of Locus and containing a lot of noise you could offer a switch to allow filtered or unfiltered track for diagram and statistics.

Why not show both? Shouldn't cause big problems, right?
Again my usecase: I do an estimation of the tour's duration with the flat distance and the altitude up meters based on the data of two tours we made during the summer (two equations to determine the value of two variables :-))
So I use the flat distance here but to explain the actual length of the tour the real length is more interesting.
Therefore I'd like to see both.

Anyway, Locus is a big helper here :-)

generaly you are right, but in advanced tab user have to "apply" changes of color and/or opacity and in basic tab not, so for me it is not intuitive if user only want to change opacity in basic tab.

with PRO 3.2.3 i have problems with kompass and map orientation if i stand still and turn around myself, if i move orientation is ok. In aktuell BETA this problem not exist and work as expected !
Discription of video:
At start i stand still and device points W, red/white kompassneedle and map are 180° wrong.
At second 6 kompass view and red arrow to target is also 180° wrong
At second 10 i begin moving W > kompass and red arrow to target is now ok
At second 33 i stand still and turn myself 180°, device is pointing E but the kompass is pointing N and arrow also pointing wrong direction.
At second 42 i move E and all is displayed well.

This problem i noticed when i search a geocache in close range to the box.

before you release the final:
since some betas I noticed that I can hear the GPS notifications even though I have switched my smartphone to mute.

sorry, release just published few minutes ago.

And if you hear or not even silent mode is enabled, it depends on source for audio sound you use.

Check menu > settings > Misc > audio output, if you have enable "Notification". When you use "media" channel, it do not accept silent state of your device.
