I'm sorry. 8-)
Everything is perfect, I've desided to use Locus as a primary map and geocaching application, but I'm confused about this issue ... so I'll update every second version only and everythig will be ok! :D

Hi,

i thought i have this GPS issue too, until i recognized that i can switch off GPS in radar view. After switch it off there everything is fine.
Can it be that it is new that this setting is default? I never recognized it before, i knew this setting but beforhand it was allways off.
Everything else works fine for me. Thanks for this great work!

Best regards
Kai

Except new Pro version on market, here is some preview of what I did during a day ... ;)

Is that graph made from Locus?

Anyway, the new release is really great! I like the add point button in the right panel, thanks a lot. One suggestion: make it possible to have a default or current category so you don't have to choose category each time. Imagine you are out on a route and wants to add waypoints - the chance is that you wish to add to the same category each time! Even if there is only one category, Locus still asks...

The compass screen looks very good now :)

How do you use the download map by track function? I can't find it.

You went on a trip for 1,5 km with max speed of 55 km/h...

WOOOOOOW!!! It seems to me, that you have too much spare time!

download map by track is in Pro version. Just tap on "Select path"

Hi menion, v 1.2free

Yesterday I have tried to download google hybrid map. I went for 3 layers, locus did show 1.91GB (180.000 tiles) alltogether, which is well under 2gb limit. Downloading finished after about 5-6 sudden phone restarts and re-downloads somewhere around 140.000 tiles as Unsuccessful, which was only about 75% of required tiles number... I have checked size of downloaded map and it is nearly 2GB, 1.98GB exactly. Is there limit  140.000 tiles in locus, which gives 2GB size? Or final extimated map size is not shown precisely really or is it? Anybody else had this problem? thx   :?

Hi,
Estimated size is surely not precise. It fit mainly on basic ape like Google or OSM classic. Satellite images are bigger. Looks that I'll have to count different value per tile for every map.
Anyway phone restart is weird. Hmm 2GB per 5hours is pretty good and restart? Phone just need a rest for a while:)

Allright, thx for answer. I'll have to split my map download into 2 separate maps then and put them in the same folder, correct?
About this phone restarts... it happened 5-6 times in about 3-4 hours of running. I had to take battery out every time it restarts as it has keep restarting itself when this happened. Weird... I'm using htc desire, original rom.

This release is fantastic. When I first tried Locus about a month ago, I still preferred Maverick Pro although Locus was very close.

Since then a lot has happened with Locus (and nothing with Maverick) so I can now say for sure that Locus is the VERY BEST offline and offroad map program for Android  :D

BTW, I have noticed that the right panel always hides by itsef even though I have selected "Never hide" for the right panel in the options. So this options seems to be neglected.

Thanks guys :) I'm glad you like it, I like it too ;)

Anyway I have still some troubles with internet connection and my 150MB limit on phone (used by fantastic tethering) is almost gone, so excuse me for now. Anyway expect new version here soon with track profiles and very quick point adding ;) (today work)

Great release :-) I like the track chart a lot!
I have 2 wishes: can speed and altitude be displayed in one chart? Can you implement a trackback function?
THANKS Matthy

I thought about two graphs in one but I have problem with Y axis, because both speed and altitude have different range so I'll have to find any solution for this.

And what you think about trackback? If you want to see chart during track record, just click on info button on track record panel and press middle button to automatically fit chart to changing track. It this what you call "trackback"?

Probably this:
Trackback - The trackback feature is a very useful feature on most GPS units. It simply allows one to press the "trackback" button and receive instructions on how to return to the original start point from ones present location. On the Map Based Garmin units the map display will show a line of dots visually displaying the return route - one simply follows the dots back! This feature is very handy when riding on trails with many turns and side trails. If one were to become disorientated (lost!) one could press the "trackback" button and follow the GPS home! Trackback routes may also be "saved" and used again to follow a particular route or even uploaded to a computer and printed out on a map for others to use! If you have recored a track and you want to be guided back the same way you came from, that's what I call trackback.
To show speed and altitude in one chart, just place the altitudeaxis on one side and the speedaxis on the other side.

Hello,

Trackback is in fact the indication how to come back to your starting point. When you have recorded a track you already have the trackback information shown on the screen.

Trackback is a little more complex. in principle this function should be available at any time to bring you back when you are lost. This implies that the GPS unit is always recording the track to be able to show it when the user presses the Trackback button.

So to implement Trackback you need to implement a default low resolution track recording to be shown when the Trackback button is pressed.

I do not think this is very nice for Locus due to power consumption.
One option would be to implement a default tracking every 5 minutes switching the GPS On and Off for recording the trackpoint.

Regards, Lucifer

What I was thinking of is to select a recorded track, than two options for guiding: one like today, track to the end of the track, and a new one, to track to the beginning of the track - trackback  ;) .

Wow nice! That was really fast!!!

Everything works as expected for me after 5 minutes of quick bug search. Give it a go!!!  :geek:

Oh, I now realized the program is attached in the original post.

Actually I have never tried installing outside the market but it worked well after changing a setting.

The new release works perfectly so far. The fulltext search is great and not too slow even with 600+ waypoints. And the hide panel bug is gone now.

Will test a bit more later.

edit: oki, founded problem with missing geocaching button on map when click on geocaching point and also improved a little scale of small bar under skyplot screen (bars with gps signal). Anymore issues?
