Title: Support for a separate mapsforge theme for overlay maps
Post by: fzk on February 16, 2014, 19:56:45
I want to overlay a mapsforge map with another mapsforge map. Currently this is already possible. Issue: I think it's not possible to use a different theme for the overlay map. But this is very important in order to set the background color (for the overlay map) to full opacity.

ehm ... isn't this better solution? ;)

MapQuest Satellite as base, MapsForge V3 as overlay with automatic transparent background

Nice, it works already? Btw. Mapquest Satellite doesn't work for me. Isn't it an internal map of the Locus app?

no, I just did it, so it will work in next version.

And not work? What you see? It should work without problems. Yes it's Locus officially supported map

ehm, did you tried to zoom out? :) This is not a problem in Locus ...

In lower (13) zoom levels it seems to work, but I wonder, that in gyntas screenshot it should work up to zoom level 18. So I never tried it before with 13.  :D

MapQuest Satellite as base, MapsForge V3 as overlay with automatic transparent background

Let me explain the basic intention a little more:
- the basemap can have any format (wms, satellite, mapsforge, ...)
- the overlay map has mapsforge format controlled by a theme (with typically transparent background)

The overlay provides a map with additional information:
- contour line
- bus routes
- special ways
- ... wathever ...

That means, if the overlay is mapsforge based, it must be controlled by a (separate) theme. If this is possible, the overlay can be used with any other map. Very valuable in my eyes ...
