Hello menoin,
i have one more Idea / wish to you for the very nice program Locus :)
I have seen that you have some functions and GUI for Geocaching :D But i missing all the Spoiler Pictures for some caches. There is a program called "SpoilerSync" (SpoilerSync runs on a Windows PC machine, not on the android device ;)) which can automatically download spoiler into a specific folder (e.g. into a Locus "Spoiler" folder on the SD Card). All downloaded spoiler was named with the right GC Name of his respective Cache.
My Idea / Wish: i select a cache in Locus and there is in the description / gui a button "spoiler". e.g. if i select the Cache "GC12THR" Locus will check in background the specific spoiler folder for pictures how called / named "GC12THR" and when he found 1 or more pictures, the spoiler button in the gui were active. and when he found no pictures, the button is inactive.
A second nice feature was: Waypoint projection. Can you implemeted it? e.g. from manually entered coordinates 180° and 25meters......
i hope you understand my wish despite my very bad english and gramatic. ;)
is there any chance to get this feature into locus?
hi ht81,
be patient :)
about your requests ...
spoilers - I have to really look at it because I know nothing about it ...
projection of point - this will surely be added into Locus. I was thinking about it a few months ago. I'll add this together with some averaging system for geocachers ...
Hello menion,
sorry that i am impatient but it makes soooooooooo fun to use locus :D
In May this year, i go to Mallorca in holiday and it would be nice if you have implemeted this functions into locus until i go to Mallorca. ;)

Hmm, spoilers images are images at bottom of cache page? Are these links (to spoiler images) also in gpx Pocket Query file? I have to check this ...
Hi,
the program SpoilerSync (http://www.anode.plus.com/spoilersync/ (http://www.anode.plus.com/spoilersync/)) download all spoiler pictures from your imported gpx file. I can manually download all spoiler pictures in a directory and copy it then to e.g. "sdcard/locus/soilers". all downloaded images had the names of the respective caches as GC Code.
i dont know, but i dont think that the gpx includes the links. :?:
Hmm I just tested one cache as you wrote .... GC12THR (//http://coord.info/GC12THR)
When I browse through source code, there is this image
http://img.geocaching.com/cache/532bf52 ... 1219f6.jpg (http://img.geocaching.com/cache/532bf526-9907-4159-92ae-2824aa1219f6.jpg)
is this spoiler you talk about?
But when I download GPX file (attached to my post) there is no link to this image ...
any tip for this?
Hi,
yes i mean this picture. You can look GC24Z0P too. There are the Spoiler named with "spoiler". I think SpolierSync looks into the sourcecode and download this link. GPX dosend include links to spoiler. :(
but was it possible to show spoilers (stored on sdcard) into Locus?
Hmm, but I don't want to do any downloading of page from geocaching.com and searching for spoilers image. Are they really so important?? I have never used them ...
Hi,
i think you don't understand me. The Program "SpoilerSync" (installed on my Desktop PC) downloads all the Spoilers on its own from the same gpx which I imported to Locus. All the Spoiler Pictures named by the GC Code and were stored automaticly to a folder on my Desktop (after download, i copy manually all spoilers to my sdcard on my HTC). e.g. The Cache GC24Z0P has 4 Spoilers. Then all Spoilers Named --> GC24Z0P (1), GC24Z0P (2) and so on. All Locus have to do is, when i select any Cache (e.g. GC24Z0P) then Locus opens the Cache descriptions and Locus look into the Folder (thats the folder i copy before from my desktop on sdcard) and a button e.g. "Spoiler" named are active. If Locus found no Spoilers for this cache in the folder, then the button is inactive.
I hope you undersand me. Locus have nothing to download, online search in a specified folder stored on sdcard and show the pictures :D
Oki, i finally understand what you want.
You want to add into Locus one button that should be useful only for you, because no one will do such complicated coping downloaded images from one software to SD card to second software. Hmm .. I believe you already know my answer.
Only think that should change my opinion is at least ten people who will share your enthusianism into this spoiler thing and also good description, why is this useful because I still don't see it ...
so sorry, but this TOO much user specific things, I don't want implement into Locus, hope you understand. As I see it, if you want this images, you can just go into this folder and watch them by yourself ...
I agree! Especially towards the final version 1.0 this functionality is not necessary. It would be interesting however if there would be some kind of plugin mechanism, so that people can write their own additions to the program ... to be finally happy ;)
You might think about it for version 2.0 :)
I think a lot of people is interested to have this functionality !!
Spoiler sync generate the photos and a html document for each cache named with the gc code.html
Add this functionality is as easy as:
1.- Select the directory where the photo are.
2.- When showing the details of a cache, search if exists the .html file for this cache, and a link to open it
Thank you in advance!
spoilers would be nice!
menion: spoilers are images that give hints/tips/clues where the cache is hidden.
when you can't find the cache you look at the spoiler-pictures.
unfortunately they are not easy to download (not in gpx), thats why "SpoilerSync" is used to load them from geocaching.com
but this is about to change!:
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index. ... pic=275718 (http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=275718)
menion you could add a new tab in the cache-description dialog (Info, Listing, Logs, Spoiler)
perfect, this is surely possible! New tab or new button at bottom will be added! nice, looks that this "problem" will be finally solved without any "hack" or ... They write they they will publish some testing PQ file during next weeks, so when I forgot to test and ad it in next weeks, please remind me it ...
Until now i did not use spoilersync, but i am well aware of many situations where they would be more than very helpful ;)
So i would agree to the proposed solution with another tab and external spoilersync. Then however we need to "convince" the spoilersync coders to provide an Android App ;)
Best regards, yahp
Let me add my voice to the previous ones: It would be great if there was a way for Locus to easily display the spoilers that Spoilersync downloaded.
Cheers
Displaying spoilers would be a killer; the only other app I know, which support spoilers in the descripted way (using "SpoilerSync"), is "GeoOrg". Supporting spoilers is really essential for geocaching and you would get some new users for Locus, I promise. Please think about it.
guys ... I'm waiting on official release, as in post from RedSpawn above
"The update is currently scheduled to go live on August 2nd, 2011. In the next few weeks Groundspeak will provide a sample XSD for developers to review. "
so remind me at this day if I forget ;)
Hi, I have finished a first prototype of my PQ converter... this converter adds additional information in PQ zip file vom GC.com, so it is now possible to download spoilers via spoilersync or geopics an link them to the cache description! The spoiler pics (including the created html files) have to be copied to the phone and thats it...
For me it works fine, so I some more interrested in this application I can publish the windows executables.
I also added the possibility to add solved mysteries as additional waypoint that Locus is able to corret the possition during the import ;-)
Great !!!
Waiting for the 2nd august! but... for working offline... it is not possible to add a button to a directory where to search and .html file with the geocache code???
Thank you in advance.
unfortunately the new format is postponed at least until late September:
//http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=275718&st=0&p=4795268&#entry4795268

god, what's so hard on adding few new lines in GPX file ... usual groundspeak way. same with Public API ...
some news on this? or any workaround with spoilersync?
I'm a very happy user of Locus Pro for geocaching but I still miss spoilers pictures support.
I used to geocache with the open source CacheBox application for Windows Mobile that allowed to access offline spoiler pictures stored using the SpoilerSync program. Such a support would be great (at least for me).
I'm thinking of developping a small app to catch any Android intent associated with a http://www.geocaching.com (http://www.geocaching.com) URL and then display SpoilerSync pictures if available locally on the phone or tablet. In that scenario, from Locus, one could access the spoiler pictures when clicking on the geocache code in the popup window that appear when one clic on a cache icon. Unfortunately, the link used currently by Locus uses the geocache guid instead of the cache code that is necessary for SpoilerSync :-( Currently I have my SpoilerSync index page openned in a browser and I need to remember the geocache code (good Alzheimer prevention!).
It would also be great if that Locus popup windows was available once in the cache description tabs (in the companion application). For example, to go smoothlessly from the waypoint list to a cache description then to the cache location on the map.
no news here, I'll have to start to do something with it soon, anyway as I remember correctly, here already was discussion about using SpilerSync and as I know, something with this should already work isn't it? If not, then why not? :) SpoilerSync only do some directory structure that contain images for caches right?
Quote from: "menion"SpoilerSync only do some directory structure that contain images for caches right?
SpoilerSync, the way I use it, generates a flat directory containing the images (their name starts with the GC code), an HTML file for each cache (with links to the images) and an index.html file linking to all the HTML files. The idea would be to open the file GCxxxx.html in the browser or in a WebView widget and use it to display the images.
can you generate for me some sample that I can use for testing please? I never used this tool so some help will be welcome
EDIT: Hmm I have just read whole discussion at this topic and it's more then half year back when we talked about it. Since then, nothing changed in Groundspeak and GPX format, so seems that spoilerSync will be current most TODO feature .. ok, so let's do something with this. If you can generate for me some sample and send me some exported directory together with GPX file containing cache data, it will be more then welcome

Here is a zip archive of the directory generated by SpoilerSync

using this GPX file as input

Migrating to the latest SpoilerSync version, I discovered that it seems to have some problems parsing the http://www.geocaching.com (http://www.geocaching.com) (who doesn't?) and generates dummy ".png" files that can be ignored.
hmm, fine ... here is testing version for anyone (kerenoc?) who wants to test SpoilerSync data ...
put extracted directory to Locus/data/geocaching directory (or one subdirectory like Locus/data/geocaching/dataToday). If you then press on geocache on map and show main cache screen, Locus will try to find GCCODExxx.html file, and if will be success, new "Spoilers" tab will appear
let me know, what else is "needed"
It's working fine on a Galaxy S2 2.3.3. Will test that on an Honeycomb tablet at home.

While you're at it...
Quote from: "kerenoc"It would also be great if that Locus popup windows was available once in the cache description tabs (in the companion application). For example, to go smoothlessly from the waypoint list to a cache description then to the cache location on the map.
What about a menu item to go directly to the map view centered on the cache, in the menu where one can choose either compass, guidance activation or navigation?
Anyhow many thanks for the great and quick support! I'm really glad I went for the pro version!
The spoiler modification is working fine on an Asus Transformer tablet and an HTC Desire phone. Thanks
perfect, thanks for reporting. Hope this someone else find useful. About new icon in bottom bar, I'm not sure if this is so useful ... I'll think about it later but don't count much with it
Very good feature. It worked perfectly for me.
Finally I have a reason to test this function. And it works perfect!!!!! :D :D :D :D
Great job Menion.
Menion,
One small thing about this function:
When clicking a spoiler image in from the loaded HTML it is shown correctly, but when clicking the BACK button afterwards, a white screen appears.
I can only reset this by re-opening the cache listing.
Aditional: When clicking on a spoiler image in the html, I would prefer the picture to be opened by SYSTEM.
Is this something you can fix or implement?
