Title: Vector map handling via PC possible?
Post by: dreamteam on December 22, 2011, 09:36:52
Hi,

I was not keeping track the very recent developments, so maybe this is just a noob question:

Is it possible in the meantime to download the vector maps via PC and install it than on the phone?
(I have the pro version and if that woudl require a new account with a reasonable amount of money involved would do it)

The reason is that I would like to to have the maps "ready" and than push it to the phone rather than downlaoding several hundereds of MByte via the phone.

I would also be interested to set up a "private" openstreet map server (if this is possible) to be able to adjust the zoom level to my needs and not struggle with download rates.  Maybe this could be a modell that if a number of users are doing that and cross setup accounts to reduce the download traffic?

Best regards,

dreamteam

I downloaded my map from here: //http://download.mapsforge.org/maps/ and copied it manually to the phone. Works perfectly.

Many thanks for the link which is quite helpfull!

What I am looking for is a program that I can download those maps in a row and do not have to click them one by one.

Do you have also a page for Asia maps and South America?

Best regards,
