Title: Transferring to a new smartphone
Post by: balloni55 on January 29, 2026, 19:15:47
Hello menion,
I have a new smartphone,'VIVO X 200FE' with Android 16.
The transfer from the Xcover4S worked well so far.

The new device no longer has extSD, so I installed Locus completely on
storage/emulated/0/Android/media.

Now I have two questions:
1. Does it still make sense/is it still necessary to use the AFA version? If not, can I simply install the normal apk with the next update?
2. I have many POIs with images where the path information no longer matches. How can I solve this problem?

Hello @balloni55,

1. Regarding the AFA version under Android/media, I'm not sure if it's necessary. I don't want to take any risks, so I always use the AFA version anyway.

2. If the path to the attached photos (or other attached files) is not exactly the same, you will probably have to reassign all attachments. I've already been through this myself. I do have a device with an SD card slot again, but I'm now using a different (larger) card and it has a different name/encoding. However, I've now got into the habit of storing photos in the internal memory, which is no problem with 512 GB. 😉

Hello Wolfgang,
/Android/media is accessible up to Android 16 (but nobody knows if another insanity from Google will strike going forward ...)
On my two devices (phone, tablet, Samsung Galaxy) with Android 16 I sometimes use the AFA, sometimes the standard version when installing betas - makes no difference.
Cheers
Michael

Thank you both for your answers.

Quoteyou will probably have to reassign all attachments. I've already been through this myself.
That was my thought too. Presumably, the POIs in the database would have to be renamed to the new path, which I have no idea how to do... ::)
Or how did you do it?

Hi guys,
AFA version offer access to the root of the SD card. With this version, you can have "Locus" directory directly in the root folder. "Android/media" does not need this AFA version.

And missing media > app should automatically handle a change in the path to images. Where are your images now ... still in the Locus/data directory, just hidden in private /Android/data/... path?

In my case, it concerns photos as attachments that are stored in various folders in the internal memory and on the memory card.

Hello menion
thank you for the explanation about AFA and the tip about POI photos.

I saved the entire POI folder with the images under
Android/media/menion.android.locus/data/

Locus recognises the images!  8)

Many thanks. ;D
