Hello everyone, I've noticed that the route planner has been behaving strangely recently. Previously, it was possible to use different route profiles while planning a route. Example: I'm planning a route in pedestrian mode. On this route, there's a meadow that I want to cross. Previously, you could plan to the end of the path at the edge of the meadow, then switch to "manually drawn" to the other side of the meadow at the beginning of another path, then switch back to pedestrian mode and continue planning in that mode. Now, when you switch to pedestrian mode, the entire route on the other side of the meadow is redrawn in pedestrian mode. This causes my manual drawing to move across the meadow, sometimes resulting in very strange detours. Why can't you now selectively change the route mode between individual points without always replanning the entire route? This definitely needs to be changed. Sometimes the map or the browser has an error, meaning you simply can't continue planning even though the route is marked on the map. In this case, I always used manual mode. That doesn't work anymore; it always replans the entire route. Very bad. Perhaps you have a tip. Best regards.
yes, in the new profile click on Menu and continue with .
If you need a manual mode, you can simply press and hold the +
I've been caught out too with the new method. I don't think it's as intuitive although I rarely have mixed modes so no big loss. I assume the undo button would undo any mistake.
Not a bug, but not very intuitive behaviour. If you click on a different profile in the new profile list while planning a route, the entire route is recalculated. As @freischneider already wrote, you now have to go to the three-dot menu and select "continue with".
You have to figure that out first if you haven't been following the new development of the route planner that closely. I had actually forgotten about it myself, as I rarely use the function and usually add individual segments with a long press on the plus button.
Perhaps the opposite behaviour would be better or more sensible: when you select a different profile during route planning, planning continues with that profile. If you want to recalculate the entire route, you should do so explicitly by pressing a button to recalculate everything, or, for example, by long-pressing the profile.
For me personally, there is no need for change here, but perhaps it would be easier for new users if the behaviour were changed.
Hi, we are confident to say, that current "default" behavior with auto-reroute is better and more intuitive for more users.
But in the same time we are not 100% happy how we had to "hide" the option to change profile only for next segments - knowing it was used like that by our more experienced users and is one of key advantage of our route planner. So we definitely didn't close this topic yet.
