Title: Edit line style of a track should be easier
Post by: Graf Geo on August 02, 2024, 14:00:16
Not a bug, but a bit of a nuisance:

I create a route or record a track. This is saved in folder xy and automatically receives the style of the folder. So far so good.

If I want to change the line style of a track later (and don't want to keep the style of the folder), all style properties are first reset to the default style (line red). Only width is retained.
Everything else (patterns, colouring mode, outline) is reset.

If I only want to change a single property, e.g. the type of patterns, I still have to set again everything else.

It would be better if all line properties of the track to be changed were retained in the menu so that I can only change the desired detail.
Maybe optionally with a button "set default style", if someone prefers that.

Screenshot 1: Style of the folder
Screenshot 2: Edit dialogue
Screenshot 3: Use style of the folder deactivated. All properties are reset (except width)

Nice idea. Worth a help (suggestion) topic?

Hi guys,

when you disable "Use folder style", parameters are not reset but set to the default value defined in settings.

Anyway, in the line style dialog, there already is a "Clone folder style" button active in case, "Use folder style" is disabled.

There only seems to be a minor problem. The button is still disabled if you disable "Use folder style" without "Save", I'll look at it.

I use it very often and it works as expected.

Now I've seen the problem too. But it's not always there.
OK if: selection, tools, change style.
Here the button is active

Ok, got it. But that is no help / no solution for my problem (want to edit only one property).

You only want to change the style for one track. But you want to use the style of the folder as a template?

I want to be able to change individual tracks in a folder with folder style x without the track being reset to the default style when I deactivate "Use folder style".

Because I might only want to change a single property, e.g. the colour of the outline.

My screenshots were probably misleading. Instead of "use style of the folder" it should read "do not reset to default style".

This is exactly what Ordner Stil Clone does. I'll write you a PN

As @freischneider wrote, use this method.

Simply disable "Use style of the folder", then from the menu select "Clone folder style" to get the identical local style of the parent folder and now modify what you want.

Yes, I have seen that in the meantime (thanks to freischneider.)
As you wrote before: The button is still disabled if you disable "Use folder style" without "Save". But I can live with that until I get a fix.

Once again on the subject of line style.
The problem with the "Clone folder style" button has now been fixed. This also works well.

But I have another discrepancy with the line style.

In the general settings under "Points and Tracks" > Tracks I have set the line style to red and 3 px. So that should be the default style.

In the route planner settings I have set the line style to pink with 50 % transparency and 8 px.

If I click on a track created with the route planner on the map and want to change the line style, I first have to deactivate "use folder style". Then the editing dialogue is ALWAYS set to red and 8 (!) px. So not to the 3 px that I have set as default. And also not to pink and 50 % transparency.

So why only the thickness is applied when the "use folder style" button is deactivated, but the colour and transparency are taken from the default settings, I don't understand and I don't find it logical either. This is a mix of completely different setting areas.

When I go to edit a track from the folder list, whether planned or recorded (select track, change style), the "use folder style" button is immediately deactivated and the colour is set to red and 3 px. This is the default style from the general settings.

That's no big deal, but for me it's not coherent behaviour.

I have the track set to 6 px and blue
(Settings>Points & Track>track Style)
For a while now the saved track are thinner and red.
I cannot find the reason. And it only lets me change it in the silver/gold version if I click to change the style.

Any idea how to make it blue again?

Hi guys,

@Graf Geo
I've somehow missed your important post, sorry. The issue will be fixed in the next version, thanks!

@Palásthy
Maybe you have the same issue as Graf Geo, so in the next update, new tracks should have the correct colors.

And the old? There should not be a limitation on the setup of style for the single track. Simply in the track detail, tap on the "Edit" and at the bottom, edit the style. Mass operation, so the change of the style for multiple tracks at once requires active Premium, is it correct.
