Seems that menion prepares for including all elements of gc4locus in main app. 8)
Or why is the way für the add-on menu in geoache details hidden so deep :P

Not a bug report, granted, but I recently noticed some inconsistency:
The "Dashboard" function panel button shows/hides the dashboard, and long-press brings the option to select a dashboard. But the "Map Overlay" button always shows the selection dialog.
It would be more useful if the button also simply turns map overlay on/off, and the long-press menu offers the option to select (and setup the alpha, etc.). Also given that the detail dialog is available from the "Map-screen content" panel.

And while I'm at it: Any chance for multiple overlays? For example, I have overlays for public transport stops and hiking routes, and would like to show them together...

I have the link to a WMS map (e.g. https://wms.geo.admin.ch/?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0), but I can only find a way to add WMS maps from a directory (where this map is not available). How can I add a WMS map by URL?

Menion, please notice. The bottom command bar in point mode is barely shown. This is independent from using fullscreen mode.

Can't confirm that. Bottom bar is completely displayed for me. Maybe a problem on your device?

Confirmed.
But only happens to me with a routeplanner planned track, which I saved, not with recorded tracks.
Only happens at  trackpoint 1 and then subsequently changing to no. 2 etc. With trackpoint 2 the detail popup changes its size with moved overlaying bottom bar, misplaced in the middle close to the location-header. Once I pull the detail popup down to make it smaller, the buttom bar jumps back to bottom, then fully visible, and everything stays fine.

Same with me.
I use the Cache Solver add-on regularly, the Share button almost never.
I would appreciate to have the Calculate button back to the bottom menu.

Today for the 1st time (I can recall in 14 years) LM<N> crashed while track recording - after only 230 metres, but I only realized when I went to save the track 30 minutes later ;-( When I turned on the screen, the Android home screen was displayed; when I tapped LM4.25.1 it started as normal & showed the unsaved track recording panel. I haven't used the Audio Coach before so I had an idea of a single reassuring "I'm still alive" beep every now & then. I set the Audio Coach time to 3:00 but unfortunately the statistics are all long, verbose & somewhat inaudible when running (phone in bag). A further "statistic", like with some notifications eg. "GPS Acquired" with option of beep or "select sound", where I can select a short optimized high volume resonant frequency beep would be perfect. Worth a help desk suggestion, or other ideas? It's annoying when data is lost. Thanks.

Exactly the same happened to me... and same ideas years ago. I went for Tasker, check Status of LM via Tasker plugin and beep.

But now as you mention it, I'm not sure if my task worked the last times haha, need to check my infrastructure...

However... core action is "Beep" and "Request sensors and stats", you need %is_track_rec_recording" and check if it matches true.

But an "Alive beep" is a good thing, for the serious LM user, pls suggest it! A beep would not necessarily make aware of LM failure, but also Android. In my case the recording stopped because of an Android hard restart. Yes, should be added to the trainer. "isRunning" and "isRecording" beep.

@Tapio - maybe a 2nd tasker profile to monitor the 1st? double-ha-ha (emoji for that?) - could you share your Tasker profile anyway, please? Good to learn from the masters. To be honest I still have your other one LM4RndPoints_DataIntent.tsk to understand yet - I'm getting slower & s.l.o.w.e.r...

BTW - my use case - screen is virtually never turned on - glancing at the screen for any evidence of heartbeat/ recording is not a useful option while running & phone is inside a bag. However if I don't hear a beep every "now&then" then I may A) try to listen harder B) few minutes later turn on screen.

I suggest any further comments are via the Help desk suggestion (https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/35669-some-form-of-locus-heartbeat).

If a red dot is visible, the recording is running. If the recording is not running, a green arrow appears and an orange pause symbol appears when the recording is paused. We don't need any flashing here, it just directs the focus to the wrong place.

Important, this requires the Locus Tasker plugin, see Play Store.

Great idea, I simplified the task even more to give feedback only when the recording fails, increasing the number of audio reminders and also inserting vibrations. The verification interval is defined only in the set up of the TICK event that I set to 100 seconds and it is not necessary to create loops in the task because it is the event itself that activates it at each interval.
The interval should not exceed two minutes according to what is reported in the TICK guide.
You must remember to activate it, but there is no danger of forgetting to turn it off, it will automatically remind you 100 seconds after you have closed the track.

lorcas, you don't use the Stop and should remove it. I personally like to trigger via tick and for dynamic pauses or >2 minutes, I use the stop construction. Notice the conditions uses a Task Variable, i. e. survives the task. And tick doesn't use the Android scheduler, I prefer that.

BUT Logic. We want to know regularly if all is alive and well. Your task, by not saying anything means "all is well" but also it could mean "Locus/Tasker/Android have crashed".

Such a Locus watcher can also include checking and correcting volumes. Has all happened to me. No guiding voice, I walked and walked, then noticed, the voice and off-track beep were silent.

"Remember to activate it" - Usually one does create tasks which get started via a homescreen shortcut. Execute other tasks from there via "Perform task" or turn profiles on/off ("Profile status").

both of you - fantastic stuff - and being text (rather than some obscure binary) it is possible to use WinMerge (or similar) to track changes

Honestly, recording state can be enhanced, I caught myself unaware of the current state as no pulsating of symbols or location arrow or no changed color of track recording sidepanel-header is given, only the icon in the map-corner changes but that can generally mean different things UI-control-wise, though I was aware of its meaning.

Any idea of how to change the rec-profile-symbol, dedicated activity ?
I suppose this being a bug.
P.S. obviously missed the nonsense-advice in the help

I use Locus exclusively for fun during hikes or bike rides, and in those moments I seek silence and tranquility, so having a device that makes itself heard at intervals disturbs me. I prefer an alarm that sounds when something is not working and if the crash of takser/android/device prevents such control I can live with it, after all even getting lost every now and then is part of the beauty of being in nature.

For the same reason I rarely use Locus navigation or guidance. If I have any doubts, I prefer to take out the device and decide which route to take rather than listen to the voice guidance.

As I personally use the application the only thing that bothers me is the possibility of losing the recording of the track, so I focused on this aspect.

You can create a Tasker link tied to an action that first starts locus recording and after a few seconds activates the control profile. But I have too many apps and icons on my phone that I prefer to create them only when strictly necessary.

Hi to all.

Format of the time during navigation.
Requested change: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/35676-display-of-the-driving-time#comment-143889 . Anyone against it?

@Cyklo Miro & @freischneider
believe me or not, the blinking/animated red dot visible during track recording, was one of the major reasons for a bigger battery consumption during recording. Solution? Simple. The animation was removed.

ah, I see. For unknown reasons, change of the activity type for recording profiles is enabled only in my private version and not in public versions. But why I did this?  ::) , anyway simple solution is remove the profile and create a new one.

@slarti76
"Dashboard button" > are you really using the "Dashboard" item? Because there exists also a "Dashboard toggle" button that behaves exactly as you describe. Also, long-click is always a "hidden feature", so I cannot add some critical functionality (like display of dialog) under it.

Multiple overlays > not planned, sorry.

Custom WMS > a little hidden. Map manager > WMS/WMTS tab > "+" > Add from library > "+" > and here you go ... this does not make sense right? Hmm ...

It is not very clear, because the first option says "add from library" and therefore the user thinks it can only be done from the library. Then the library list opens with the + button that seems to be used to add a further WMS to the library itself and not to the WMS chosen by the user. In my opinion from the WMS/WMTS menu when you press the + it should propose the options one to search in the library and one for manual insertion.

Thanks for the new beta!

I have not yet understood the first two new features ("support for alternative route" and "disable fill of street addresses"). Where can I find them?

First impression: the improved time displays in the route planner / track info window look good.

In my opinion, it would be better for the time if the unit "hour" was also displayed below 1 hour. So 0:35 h instead of 35 m.
With "m" I always think of metres as with the other fields. In addition, the saved space is unnecessary, as at least 3 digits are displayed from 1 hour (1:02 h).

In the dashboard (this is not a new request, but I have wanted to suggest it for a long time), I would like to see a little more space between the value and the unit. They are very close together, which looks a bit inelegant. In some cases, the number and unit are touching.

Zoom settings for overlays: when overlay is activated, the "Advanced options" button is half cut off or covered by the Android footer. You then have to pull up the menu a little. But that's not a problem.

The new design of the "all functions" menu actually looks a bit nicer.  :)

Have a nice weekend!

Thanks!
I forgot to describe these two new improvements a little more. Sorry...

Check app settings > Navigation > LoRouter offline settings ... here are two new options. Alternative routes is a new feature disabled by default (it increases compute time by 2x). "Fill of street addresses" already works for some time, but also increases compute time by almost 2x.

I searched how to create the alternative route, then noticed, it was already there. Barely visible! But nice experiment. What parameters does it change to get a different result?

Alternative route - found it. As Tapio wrote, a bit hard to see, but if you look at it once, ok. I tend not to need it and leave it deactivated.

"Fill of street addresses" - I see no difference if activated or not. Street names are always listed in route planner segments. Or I still haven't understood what is meant. 🤔

4.25.1.2 beta - alternate routes or routers? I would think the former?
20240824-082434-.jpg

In full screen mode there, the title bar "Route Planner" needs to move up 1 "row" so right at the top?
20240824-082453-.jpg

Alternative routes - I have enabled, I tried with car & touring bike profiles, but don't see an alternative generated. Would these 2 new settings be better located in the Route Planner main menu rather than the Settings > Navigation menu? I would think sometimes you want them on, sometimes off, and that decision is when in the planner.

Sorting track recording profiles by name - thanks!

"Dashboard button" > are you really using the "Dashboard" item? Because there exists also a "Dashboard toggle" button that behaves exactly as you describe. Also, long-click is always a "hidden feature", so I cannot add some critical functionality (like display of dialog) under it.
Some misunderstanding here. I was comparing with the Dashboard functionality. I am aware of the "Dashboard Toggle" and basically would like the same for "Map Overlay". I get it that the long-click is kind of a workaround, but wouldn't it be possible to add "Map Overlay Toggle" button, same as "Dashboard Toggle" button?

QuoteMultiple overlays > not planned, sorry.
Fair enough. I kinda expected this to not be possible...

QuoteCustom WMS > a little hidden. Map manager > WMS/WMTS tab > "+" > Add from library > "+" > and here you go ... this does not make sense right? Hmm ...
Yeah, that works. Not intuitive, but I can live with that. However, try to add this link:
https://wms.geo.admin.ch/?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0
You get a huuuge list (non-alphabetic, unfortunately), without a way to search. Impossible to find what you're looking for. I tried to add a direct link I found in the file:
https://wms.geo.admin.ch/?request=GetMetadata&layer=ch.bazl.einschraenkungen-drohnen
But this still displays the whole list. Is that a bug? Otherwise, any chance to add a search here?

I'll answer here generally for all, at least first core "questions".

Alternative routes > by enabling, BRouter computes really alternative routes without changing any parameters in the profile! It just tries to avoid the already computed first route. Unfortunately, the LoRouter version is not clear enough, so computing is quite slow, maybe more than 2x. So it is disabled by default for now anyway for testing > ideal.

Fill of street addresses > if you save the route and check the itinerary, you will see that when fill is disabled, all routes have "Unknown street". During navigation, the name of the next street is visible in the toolbar. But I know, that it still does not work 100% perfectly, so I'll maybe disable this by default, for now ...

@Andrew Heard
"Alternative routers" > nice typo, thanks :)

Alternative routes toggle > problem is, that this is a parameter of the router. And on your screenshot is "Part 1.2 of route" - this means the alternative (1.1 is base route) route of the first segment.

Empty space in full-screen > @Marek Scholtz may look at it, but as mentioned many times - full-screen mode is not perfectly supported in Locus Map so use it at your own risk with its problems.

The problem in the backup > is interesting. It looks to me, that the local backup works fine, but then you wanted to upload to the cloud? And this is done on the background and it failed in your case. Is it possible?

@slarti76
Map overlay > I think we understand each other. Yes, "Map overlay toggle" is what I expect you want :). Dashboard is quite a complex tool, where you have to select from the list of available dashboards. So simple toggle for the last active dashboard makes sense to me. In the case of other features, like overlay, shading (generally everything available in the side "Map-screen content" panel), it is not so complicated to toggle them, so a special button is overkill from my point of view. With the "Map overlays" button in the side panel, it is just three taps to toggle it. Not a big deal ...

Add new WMS > I've already improved it in the last version. And search? I know. Some WMS maps have a really huge list of layers, so a search should be more than welcome here. I have known this for years, but never had enough time at the right moment to solve it, sorry (it requires a completely new screen as this, maybe 10 years old can't no longer be easily updated).

@menion - no, the backup didn't work - I had rearranged directories & the backup directory didn't exist. No cloud involved. LM said the backup was however successful.

BTW on a new LM install (new device) I go to the main menu > All features > where is the Backup Manager?? I do a search from the All features for "backup" > No search results. PS eventually found under Settings > Backup & filesystem, not and/or with All features > Tools? You see "Settings > Backup & filesystem" is a combination of settings and functions/ features, so I think the current placement is somewhat confusing.

I wasn't able to comment on this out-of-date topic regards the Backup Manager https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/cannot-find-backup-manager-in-menu-options, or find any other (easy) references.

Classic newbie (me) mistake: new device > restore LM4 settings (all settings except tracks) > Cloud Sync tracks & points > BUT I have tracks & points visible after the cloud sync - 12,000+ tracks > Locus continual crash, I guess due to too many visible tracks - error below...

So delete media/.../data/database/* and start again with cloud sync settings: Show new points & tracks: OFF ;-)

Because CloudSync does the sync plan beforehand, it knows in advance when there will be too many tracks to display, so can avoid this unnecessary situation?

What do you mean by " Is the stuff after "?" simply ignored in this context"? There is no issue on the geo.admin web. The whole list is generated by me based on received XML that is perfectly valid.

@michaelbechtold
I'm testing it with one download tile-based map and it works correctly to me. Do you have problems with more maps? Any idea how to simulate it on my own device? Thanks

@Andrew Heard
Problem in the backup > ah, got it thanks. App reports by the red toast that the custom backup directory is really not valid, but in the background, it uses a default directory (in the Locus/backup). I'll keep this for automatic backups and improve for the manual.

Backup manager > was moved a long time ago into Settings > Backup & Filesystem. And yes, a global search is in preparation.

12k tracks ... uff  :). Anyway, first initial sync should not load content on the map. The problem here was that restoring of settings also restored information that sync was already done. I'll improve it to the next app version so this won't happen again, thanks.

Since a couple of versions, whenever I share a Location from Google Maps to Locus, the resulting Waypoint will only be called "Point". It used to work properly before, ie Locus would name the point for example "Carrefour Supermarket".

The position is still shared correctly.

Developers must be some tough species. You start with some idea, generously share ("could be useful for others"), add heaps of features, some of which you don't personally need... 10 years ago you thought "it's pretty complete", a year ago someone asked for feature 451441552, quote: "this is an absolute must-have, otherwise your app is garbage", yesterday Google broke something, tomorrow they tell you feature 45523645985 and 7458868.869022 are quintessential. Someone wishes you biblical plagues for not implementing things.

And then there's my sweet fellow germans, who always want a written documentation and write walls of text how things should be done. By others. From my experience, russians are also strong in that department.

Yeah, Menion behaves professional. Haha, there's dev comments on the Play Store, where devs, ok small devs, answer heat with heat 😁

</enduselesswalloftext>

And now Menion, give us more statistical tools, automatic pause waypoints, auto track to route alignment, all the algorithmical stuff, otherwise the app is invalid. Biblical plagues.

No, well, I tried the following two links:
- https://wms.geo.admin.ch/?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.3.0
- https://wms.geo.admin.ch/?request=GetMetadata&layer=ch.bazl.einschraenkungen-drohnen

The first is obviously the whole layer directory, the second a single layer. When I paste them in the browser, I get different results, the second being much smaller, as expected.

But when I add them with that manual method in Locus, I get the same long list both times. That's why I thought perhaps the part after "?" doesn't matter?

My thinking was to avoid the long unwieldy list by only adding the layers I need, using the "direct" links.

Friday afternoon ... it is the time for the new Beta 4.25.1.3  ;)

@slarti76
Your second request is to the layer metadata. Locus Map do something with it? I'm surprised because it is not supported. Anyway, correct request is without extra parameters or with a 'GetCapabilities'. Adding a single layer is not possible. I understand the problem perfectly, but I'm worried, there is currently no other solution except rewriting whole "WMS map layers" screen to the new system with integrated search.

Beta 4.25.1.3

I have a question about a new feature in the current beta:

"improved top bar for point and track screen to better support multi-line"

For a track, if it requires more than one line, the name is displayed visually offset with a slight shadow (screenshot 1), but not for a point (screenshot 2).

Is that how it should be?

I can confirm this in turn. Nothing happens with results for new search terms.

Older search entries, on the other hand, can be clicked on and called up in the map.

Workaround until this is fixed:
Once back (Android bottom), restart search, (the search term is retained), then it works.

Locus map 4.25.1.3 BETA.

- Associate gpz extension with Locus map 4.
- Advised import mode is "display only no save".
- Import and test the attached gpz file result.
  icons - images - pdf - navigation.

(https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=14067;image)

The gpz contains a gpx file enriched with navigation instructions plus pictures and pdf document.
Displays automatically any icon inclusive hotSpot definition like the flags provided by Slarti76.
Transfer any icon without your correspondent needs to install extra additional icon packages.

Two little things

1) Map manager
For the Czech Republic
three dots - opens Details, Center map, Backup, Delete
For Spain - Canary Islands (submap)
there is no last option - Delete

2) Cache with many waypoints, e.g. I 💙 Beskydy, GC9M4JY has 61 waypoints.
I will show cache info. I see:
Waypoints 0/6 > (no waypoints selected), should be 0>61
Waypoints 61/ > (all waypoints are selected), should be 61>61

Hi guys,

new Beta version 4.25.1.4 before the weekend.

4.25.1.4
  - chg: major! update of various libraries and whole build system and tools. Anything un-usual is a bug
  - add: (SILVER) remaining up and down elevation during the navigation to dashboard
  - add: support for "Array" option for BRouter external profiles
  - chg: improved color for background and popup menus in the dark mode
  - chg: load/unload app data now available on A10 as well
  - fix: (SILVER) reconnection of BT devices when BT was disabled in the system
  - fix: correct hiding of street bar during navigation when route does not have street info
  - fix: refresh of the list of map/nav cursors and it's deleting
  - fix: (SILVER) restore of top panel when restoring app and dashboard is active

Two important notes:

Firstly, there is a HUGE number of changed libraries (mainly some base Google libs) in the background together with an updated minimal Android version (RIP Android 5, now min. Android 6) and more ... hope, it won't cause any problems anyway I'll leave previous 4.24.1.3 available, just for sure (for downgrade is not needed un-install, all have identical 1142 version code).

Second, as I see, the new version of APK is a lot bigger. I do not know why yet, but it is some side-effect of changes in step 1. Anyway, I believe it won't cause any problems.

On the line with the crash is a method that informed me, that this method is available since Android 15 (that's why it does not crash on my device), but it worked before without a problem (it is code I wrote a few years ago) and in the description of this method is "Available since Android 6". Uff, hope, there won't be many of such problems ...

Beta version 4.25.1.5 generated.

And APK size seems to be correct. There seems to be removed compression of some internal libraries, but the final size of the app on devices should be identical.

Good stuff, Menion!
Will you also update the MapsForge library so that label rotation is possible in Locus?
TXs and cheers

Thank you Menion! Now everything works as it should, including new features and bug fixes.

I hope your family will forgive you for working late into the night, I could have lived with the downgrade to 4.25.1.3 until next week. 😉

From the log files menion.android.locus/files/Locus/logs

@Menion maybe you can auto clean up logs? Leave n files?

Two brief comments on the visual changes in the route planner menu:

New design of the slider for the average speed on flat terrain (screenshot 1): nice 🙂

New colour of the altitude chart symbol (pink, screenshot 2): a bit strong. Perhaps use a more subtle colour (Locus blue) or go back to black as before.

LM4 route planner - for example with LM4 Touring routing profile - Include navigation commands = off - should the saved track still have waypoints & warnings? Eg, from the route planner I tap an existing starting POI, I tap an existing finishing POI, now the track has two unrequired waypoints & full of warnings - as in screen cap. These icon clutter up the map for me. If Include navigation commands = on, yes I expect to have these points in the saved track.

Map clutter ?
Waypoints: Don't select or use discrete wpt icons. (Garmin waypoint)
Warnings: Menu > settings > points & tracks > alerts for route > (un)set.

@0709 thanks - start/ end wpt icon is the accommodation at the start/ end - it is convenient to tap on start > tap on  end > then check what route has been calculated

"alerts for route" - no such menu - do you mean LM3? not in  LM4

BTW I have Menu > settings > points & tracks > Show nav. command on map > unset

Hello @Andrew Heard, settings in LM4. Item is called "Route warnings":

@Graf Geo - thanks. I have all 3 Route Warnings off, but I still get Warning icons in the saved track. And as explained to @0709 if I tap any POI in the Route Planner, I also get those POI(s) in the list of Waypoints.

Can someone please tell me when I import a route (track) into Locus web planner whether the track point elevations <ele> are maintained? I have just downloaded Sonny DTM France 1asec v3 HGT files (2.4GB!!) in order to improve the slope accuracy of some planned routes.

<trkpt lat="-42.8609208" lon="147.2951480">
<ele>36.86</ele>
<time>2023-12-31T23:04:44.000Z</time>
</trkpt>

At one section, in LM4 the slope is 7% whereas the web planner is showing stupid 31%.

Extra question: is it possible yet to keep each HGT file within a ZIP file? I know it has been discussed & I did a search but could find no answer. I could test myself, but it's pretty slow. I suspect not possible.

Hello,
+1
If the web planner had the best altitude data (Sonny's data), we would have solved half the problem already, this has already been requested in the past.
Also when importing a gpx you should be able to choose whether to keep the original elevation data or apply the planner's data.

I remember, too, this has been discussed. However, turned down. For a good reason: hgt 1" on ext SD can already be a performance challenge, let alone putting unzip on top of that. Not feasible.

@michaelbechtold I currently have Sonny France 2.4GB .HGT files in "internal" memory i.e. not ext. SD. The ZIP equivalent is 635MB. Not feasible due to CPU processing speed or RAM or what?

@Andrew: even unzip is causing heavy CPU load (zip is multiple times harder, BTW). And when you use lower zoom levels, you'd need a number of those ZIPs ...

INTENSE, LONG-LASTING APPLAUSE.

Looks good, the road names stay on the road and rotate 180 if necessary, as it should be. Performance is hit, may cost battery (maybe make it optional?), on my phone it feels like 15 fps in gaming. Not sure 100% how rotation was before. Anyway no problem for me, I only selectively use auto rotating map.

EDIT: That 15 fps feel is caused by the stepwise rotation, not by performance. It's not fluently as before, but like in 0.5° steps.

I agree, great update! Thank you very much!

3 comments:

Text rotation: excellent! But as @Tapio already wrote, the map jerks when rotating, in small fixed angle steps. Since I only use map rotation very rarely, I'm not quite sure if this was the case before. But I think the rotation was smooth before.

I also have the feeling that the rendering of the maps is somewhat slower than before. When moving the map, the labels (place names, mountain peaks etc.) appear first in the white areas and then the actual map. Could this be the case or is it just a subjective impression?

"Quick search results for functions and settings": Very good! I like the solution with the buttons ("x features", "y settings"). It would be even better if results were also offered in other local categories: "x results in tracks", "y results in points" etc.
The fact that you always have to select the category in the search before entering the search term is a bit annoying.

Unfortunately, I now have to report a major problem. Internal LoRouter profiles no longer work for me:

After the latest update (4.25.1.7) I have massive problems with the route planner. The internal LoRouter profiles (offline) no longer work reliably for me. This affects all Internal profiles where the speed or power can be set, i.e. walking, hiking, touring, gravel, road and MTB, which are stored in the router/data/customised folder.
The orange-coloured error message always appears, stating that the value for speed/force is not known (unknown expression). See screenshots.
Internal profiles without this setting option (car fast, economical) and all external profiles work.
The joke is that sometimes it works again, but then it doesn't work again the next time I restart. I have already deleted all internal profiles in the data folder and all files in the customised folder, but the problem keeps recurring.

Post by: Graf Geo on September 20, 2024, 13:43:58
@michaelbechtold:

4,50 is my setting in walking profile.
In bike profiles the brf file shows the double value of my setting (14).

Walking and hiking profiles show correct value in error message, all internal bike profiles the double value. Strange.

I have now downgraded to 4.25.1.5 (luckily I still had the apk saved). The route planner works now. And I need it almost every day.
So it's definitely due to the new version with the new setting options in the internal LoRouter profiles. It's funny that nobody else has had this problem so far.
Until this is fixed or help is provided, I'm forced to stick with the previous version.

@Graf Geo
ah, how I've missed it? Thanks, fixed

Text rotation slowdown > not sure what happens on your device. I'll have to test it on some older phones. Anyway, there should be almost no performance negative effect.

Quick search > yes, more options are planned. This is the first testing option of how to integrate various search results into one screen ...

@Andrew Heard
web planner does not fill elevation to imported data. We do not have a fast online "Fill elevation" tool (yet). So original data should be preserved. Anyway, the difference in the slope may be in how Locus Map optimizes chart data. But to confirm precisely, shared track that causes this difference is welcome, thanks.

Thanks Menion.

As I said, I'm not sure about the map rendering speed. I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe it's just a subjective impression.
Only the jerking when rotating the map is a bit annoying. But since I rarely use it, it's not a big problem for me.

A general question: Can the installed versions always be downgraded without any problems if they don't come from the Playstore?
So if you take the (afa) apk from your Google Drive folders?
Until recently, I thought that installing an older version was only possible after uninstalling the app. By chance I realised that this is not necessary, at least for the beta version.

Beta version 4.25.1.8
   - chg: transparent navigation bar above map in some cases
   - fix: deletion of extra map files when deleting map itself
   - fix: problem with offline LoRouter and new 'speed' parameter
   - fix: missing labels for vector maps in case of low zoom over few map files

@Graf Geo
In the name of the app is a code (in this case 1142) and you may always install the APK with the same or higher version code. When I'm creating Beta versions, I always keep the same code between full versions, so you may move up and down without a problem.

What if you rotate by hand manually? Is there also a "lagging"?

Thanks for new beta 4.25.1.8 and explications about up-/downgrade details. Will keep it in mind.

Route planning with LoRouter profiles and speed parameters now works fine. 🙂

Lagging/jerking map rotation: Yes, same. I also tried on my old device SG7 with 4.25.1.3, rotation jerkes too. So it's not a issue with the last beta.
I will test it next days on bicycle.

@Menion - are these profiles still maintained in https://github.com/asamm/brouter/tree/asamm/locus-routing-profiles? For example
https://github.com/asamm/brouter/blob/asamm/locus-routing-profiles/LoTouring.brf was last changed 9 months ago, so I guess the latest changes must be stored elsewhere? I was going to see how the customizable speed could be incorporated into 3rd party .BRF files.
