Title: Exporting a track with timestamps
Post by: williamsiddall on April 30, 2015, 21:51:04
Probably not a Locus problem, but:

When I export a track as gpx, I get timestamps associated with each track point. When I export as kml/kmz, I just get the location data without associated timestamps. Is this a limitation of the kml/kmz encoding, or a problem with the export?

Thanks,
Bill

Attached gpx and kml exports for the same Locus track.

Thanks

Hi Bill,
if i open your .gpx in GE and store it as .kml/kmz the timestamps are included
see attached .kml
So i think menion should take a look on it :)

Hmm interesting ...

till now, nobody wanted timestamps in KML. So question is, do you need them in KML or is GPX fine for you?

gpx will work for me. Just thought I should mention the odd kml behavior.

Then I'll leave it as is. KML purpose is not export of recorded track, but rather sharing geospatial information. It is clear also on fact, that times were added later as an extension.
