19.04.2015 - Locus 3.8.0 - new version - changelog (http://www.locusmap.eu/news-version-3-8-0)
Great! Even the description :)
Hello Menion
1. I updated to Beta 3.8. It's not pro any more. By intent?
2. Adding waypoints manually works great now. Blue dots, voice commands. Nice.
3. The option "number of commands"is the setting when Locus creates commands along a track, right? It has nothing to do with the amount of instructions before a turn, right?
4. Did you optimize screen on/off for this version?
5. There is a question left from the 3.7... thread: what is about the "strict" setting in navigation mode. When is it needed and when is it not needed?
Thanks, great progress.
@Christian: thanks :)
@Joachim Buhl:
1. it is not Pro? I hope that Locus Pro is still a Pro!!
2. perfect, thanks for test
3. you are right
4. nope, not yet, still same system as in 3.7.1.6
5. yes, too complicated to describe without picture. Anyway I'll try. Guidance automatic system search for nearest points and switch on them - nearest! Navigation system also search for nearest points, but only in same direction. So if you will ride highway in one way and then in second during same route, Locus should never switch to opposite direction, because of difference in azimuth. And this may be useful also in this MTB. Anyway generally, if you want really "Strict", use "Strict" checkbox. I have no better solution for MTB for now ...

You have used a FREE BETA before and now its a new pure FREE. That's ok.
Update your PRO and have fun
creating a copy of a track reverse with commands work well :)

but if i create a reverse copy from a copied track (modified or not), all navigation points are lost :-[
Now all the perfect voice guiding for bikers is broken. You killed the "high, low and medium" options! We have only two choice between simplified and full standard? And in that two cases the Russian variant of voice guiding is broken too (in other words it is not working now), so what can do for proper tts translation?
I am angry!!! And have to roll back to previous version of Locus.
(**** simplifying, you just killed the good working system.)

I did the previous version of "ru.tts" but did not see until now that new version needed for new version of Locus.
Just made the new ru translation.
Thank you guys!
@balloni55: thanks, I'll check it
@Sersus: Fine, glad that problem solved. And please, don't be so rude immediately after you find some changes you do not like. I'm sure no one is interested in such posts even they may have sense ...
Surprise for me is that TTS file for guidance/navigation stopped work as version 2 (of TTS file) should be enough. And version 2 is required for quite a long time ... hmm
Quote from: menion on April 20, 2015, 22:58:55And please, don't be so rude immediately after you find some changes you do not like. I'm sure no one is interested in such posts even they may have sense ...
Sorry, that was an emotional outburst :D
So the elevation change colouring seems not too improved yet. On my testing track the initial part slowly ascending by 120 height meters is still drawn in mostly green tint :'(. I guess there may be a ultrashort segment having inaccurate elevation setting the steepness maximum to unreal value. Don't know if this is related to the colouring problem but I assume that ascending parts should be more yellow. At least descents seem no more be drawn in blue colour - the most confusing attribute of previous versions 8)
So I have yet another suggestion about the colouring algorithm: make the tints fixed to some global values
hardcore downhill (< -30°) - pure blue
..
mild downhill (-15 - -10°) - blue-green
...
mostly flat segments (-2 - +2°) - pure green
...
mild stepping (+10 - +15°) - yellow
...
hardcore climb (> +30°) - pure red
This scheme has one advantage that all tracks show clearly how steep changes in elevation they have
I also suggest to change the elevation change scheme to two new schemes:
- elevation Δ for colouring by segment absolute elevation change (m)
- steepness for colouring by segment slope (degrees).

Now I'm trying to simulate this problem, but it is not a problem at all, but an intent. If you create a reverse copy of a track, then all commands should be also reversed right? But because Locus do not know how to reverse some commands correctly on certain places (roundabouts mainly), all orders are removed.
QuoteIf you create a reverse copy of a track, then all commands should be also reversed right?
yes and as i wrote this work well. For tests i use my jogging round in forest without roundabouts ;)
And so i don´t understand your answer, sorry
So if you see no other solution please deactivate possibility to create a reverse copy of a track which allready included navigation points.

Hmm it was just a question. Are you sure, that if you create a track with navigation orders and then you create a reversed copy, commands will be still there? As I look into code, I'm sure it do not work in this way. All waypoints that are used as commands for navigation are always removed during "reversing".
When creating tracks and alternating between "route calculation" and manual adding points, the finnish navigation command wpt stays. It would be nice if adding points would remove it.
One can convert a wpt to a navigation wpt, but I think it should be possible to clear the navigation stuff of a wpt as well.
QuoteAre you sure, that if you create a track with navigation orders and then you create a reversed copy, commands will be still there?
No, this is exactly what i noticed :-[
For your better understanding,
my idea to get an optimized track with commands in both directions:
1. i open track without any navigation infos
2. now i create a copy with commands
3. next i opimize (delete/add) some navigationpoints/commands
4. from this optimized track with included commands i want to have a reverse one
and dependig on your code this is not possible :-[
so it would be logical for me, checkbox "Change orientation" is grayed, if user want to create a copy with included commands.
Is it intentional that I can no longer download maps from any of my online custom providers? I could download using the previous pro version but not the previous beta RC. I had (perhaps mistakenly) assumed that was because it was based on the free app.
http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/custom-maps-downloading
Only difference between Beta and regular Pro should be widget for track recording. And because I do not use any custom maps, I do not noticed this unwanted side-effect, sorry.
last test in Guidance - automatic display activation (http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=3318.msg36347#msg36347) for second stage and beauty tasks :)
I have an other question.
When I tap on a waypoint (geocache) and choose "Zielführung ein" (sorry, don't know the english version... I.e. Guidance on perhaps?) I can no longer deactivate the guidance by long pressing the button that appears in the upper left corner.
Is that a change or an error? I use it quite often...
Same bug for me
There's still persisting bug from beta - afteractivating navigation for route with manual navigation commands, the route up to nearest navigation waypoint is hidden (until I change to different map)

No action on long tap.
@JoxM, @Diddi: thanks, issue found. It happen only for a waypoints, not for a tracks. Maybe because of this, @Christian had no such problem. Fixed

Thanks for fix, yet I lack the auto-navigation feature after adding some user navigation commands to the route. If you don't want to mix both schemes together, add please at least command into track tool menu for removing all user's commands to re-enable navigation on all tracks - or add a choice to user which system he wants to use). I'd definitely prefer having both systems active - navigation on all tracks overriden by user commands where present.
I added a request for "Hybrid navigation mode" so please who might need it make a vote

What I am still missing is the possibility to distinguish between turns and junctions. Usually I only need guidance on junctions, not turns.

tried some things on the bike today, I think what would really make sense now is:
http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/navigation-limit-the-total-orders-by-user-editable-navi-order-distances
as I'm doing trail running as well as mountain biking, and the speed varies a lot, it would make sense to be able to specify
the distance (I guess time is overkill) in advance for the orders. Probably on a profile basis so you can change it comfortably
To sum up, what would be beneficial now in order of importance:
1. Distance in advance to orders
2. Specify turn radius for orders
3. Distinguish between turns and junctions
Right now I'm getting a lot of orders/notifications where I don't really need or want them. This makes a lot more sense to me and is more intuitive than a setting like high/med/low that you cannot really grasp.
Good old times with testing versions on forum? Just rarely. Plan is release version in Sunday, so quick test? First post ...

Hallo from Isla La Gomera (unfortunately only for vacation),
Some bugs (?) With 3.8 made me actually switch back to 3.7.x:
1. Overlay vector map with bitmap map makes Locus in the first place stuttering and finally CRASHING!!!
2. New guiding system removes pois in track
3. When in active guiding i did not get eg any ETA info at all anymore
Buonas notches
1, 3 already fixed
2 - any sample to test? Thanks

Hi,
there is an issue with opening of geocaches that contain images in their listing. Let me explain:
- Download some geocaches via G4L or import from GPX, as you wish...
- Make sure internet connection is disabled (wi/fi/mobile data)
- Open a geocache with images in listing in Locus and observe repeating error notifiaction "Problem with internet connection" - it seems to be displayed many times in a row, depending on how many images are there in cache listing
- Switch to Logs tab, and observe the same while scrolling to logs with attached images
This problem is annoying because the notification overlays the keyboard and you cannot see what you type when it is displayed. It only happens like since 2 months ago. Previously, if there was no internet connection, images were just not displayed and that was all. Can the old behavior be returned (and this problem fixed), please? Or, even better, display some placeholder like a red X, or a button to load the image on demand (so only that image is downloaded when user enables internet connection in the meantime without closing the cache - and if internet is unavailable at that moment as well, then error notification may be displayed).
Hello All
I don't know right now where to put my feedback. It has also something to do with
http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=3318.new;topicseen#new and
http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=4506.new;topicseen#new but I think it fits best here .
Topic: Feedback from testdrive with current version 3.8.0
Track was created within Locus with MapQuest Routing with instructions and a part of the track is overlapping ("8 shape").
1. Adding and deleting of instructions works fine. Great. EDIT: Maybe not, see Video. Way back should be right (like arrow on the track) not left like spoken and direction arrow. Its exactly this problem (http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=4506.msg36315#msg36315)
Each trackpoint has an individual number (1, 2, 3 ..........). See picture. Here see point number 34.
(http://s13.postimg.org/dba49mkwz/Screenshot_2015_04_25_19_54_58.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/dba49mkwz/)
Question on that:
Is it assured that a manual instruction is added to the point with the number showed in the popup?
Example: I have a overlapping part of a track. First I follow point 30 to 40 and on the way back I follow the track part in the opposite direction from 80-90. If I choose point 88 and add a instruction there is it assured that I get the instruction only on the way back?
2. Voice instruction timing: I get one at around 200m, 20m and right before the turn. In an older version the one direct before the turn was gone. Now it is back. Was something changed? It is ok for me. Customized amount/distance of instructions would be fine. See http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/navigation-limit-the-total-orders-by-user-editable-navi-order-distances
3. Display activation: Its much better now. I would say for now. Leave it like it is. Further tests will show if we need more optimization
4. strict route navigation: not good, sorry. I will try to explain. I startet the track at the beginning. In the overlapping part on the first way everything works fine. Than I stopped navigation on red dot. On green dot I want to start again and drive back. In this situation Locus does not catch the right "part" of the track (way back part). Even with button "next track point" it always takes points from the "first" way. With "next track point" Locus jumps back the points to the start from the first part of the track. There was no opportunity to tell Locus that I'm on the way back now. What can we do?
(http://s22.postimg.org/g4vuokhp9/Clipboard02.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/g4vuokhp9/)
How is the start of navigation is initiated? If I click on point 67 on the track to select it and than click start of navigation, I assumed that Locus start from point 67 on. Obviosly it does not.
Over all, I see a clear improvement for biking.
Thanks
Found a Bug in new 3.8.1.
If I Change the coords of a cache by clicking the gps symbol next to the listing coordinates and choose "select via map", I can no more open the cache from map. Its now on the new Position but if I tap on the icon, it's just enlarging but no popup is visible. All other caches are working fine. Restarting Locus solves the problem
Edit. Same problem when solving Multi stages with the solver add on. When showing waypoints, I can no more tap on the main cache icon
Uff, bad issue, thanks!
Hi menion,
thanks for new version ;)
- reverse track copy, from track with modified commands work perfect :)
- copy of track is stored by default in same folder ;)
1. menue button of device has no function :-[ only with hamburger button i can open menue
2. track color while guidance depend on menue/settings/misc/data import, although i use an recorded track

Hello,
- I definitely miss the "Auto recompute route" ON/OFF on Quick panel
- Colouring of route by elevation change improved from previous versions as for tint but on the other hand the expression now looks much more fade, evoking some level of transparency (though 0% transparency is set). For sure I see nowhere on track a clear-green segment though there are for sure plane passages.

@Joachim Buhl: comments to your older missed topic that belong more to topics focused on navigation :)
1. command was in the end placed on first point on that place, not perfectly on indexed, should be fixed now
2. instuctions timing should not be changed during last weeks, so timing is still set on +- 15, 35, 300 seconds before command
3. fine. I've added now small improvements based on complains from Christian (if I remember correctly), so it will be triggered only when you move, not when you stay
4. improved

Hello

Explanation: This is my test track. Created with MapQuest instructions plus manually added ones in Locus.
(http://s12.postimg.org/a4zvjk03t/waypoints.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/a4zvjk03t/)
There is the "way there" (green arrows) which should be the englisch word for "Hinweg", I mean the first way to go after the start.
And there is the "way back" (red arrows) which should be the english word for "Rückweg", I mean the second way to drive back to the start/end.
There are three interesting points/crossings/junctions.
Blue: On this trackpoint ("way there", green arrow, low count number) I added a manual navi waypoint "Right". On the way back (red arrows) MapQuest creates a navi point "Left".
Way there:

Violet: Way there (low number) manually added "slight left", way back manually added (high number) "slight right".
Way there:

Way back:

Ergo: With only manually added waypoint it seems to work but not with mixture of created and manually added ones.

@menion,
version 3.8.2.1 beta doesn't work for me. Black screen and stops.
Pro 3.8.2 works normally.
I have a different bug with 3.8.2 pro that I don't think anyone else has mentioned yet. In guiding mode the "next waypoint" is one ahead of what should be displayed currently making it useless. You can see below I have created a simple test track, and converted 3 points to coursepoints, and manually changed the text. I have annotated the screen capture with the navigation text - "turn left", "straight" and "stop". The "turn left" text was never displayed, the "straight" text was displayed when I was close to "turn left" but you can see that the 3rd & final point "stop" is displayed in the screen cap & I haven't even reached "straight" let alone "turn left". I first noticed this on a proper cycle trip a few days ago.
(http://s6.postimg.org/cyysxfgtp/2015_05_04_10_19_25.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/cyysxfgtp/)
edit
I have made a simpler track with 4 navigation waypoints which I named 1 through 4 in Garmin Training Center then re-imported (the labels in the screen capture are added by hand, not in Locus). When I enable guiding the navigation text briefly displayed "2" then skipped even further ahead to "3".

Guidance/navigation stuff: hmm, except precise reports from 0709 where I'm usually able to simulate mentioned problems, in rest of posts, it's too much images and no sample GPX files for testing ;). For me, this topic is going to be closed soon. Seems to be more and more overcomplicated and changes are causing only troubles on other places ... anyway I did some another changes, so you'll see. At least labels at top, should be better now ...
And BETA 3.8.2.2. is out, hope it will start for you now!
3.8.2.2 starts.
Thank you for fixing.
Thats the smallest problem.
Quoteadd: added optional "offline" tab to map manager, that should in future replace personal/vector tabs
? You want to mix personal and vector map in future? I hope this is a misunderstanding on my side :)
nope, this is correct. During our user testing we discover that
1. no user know "what are vector maps"
2. when user downloaded vector map from store, no one search for them in "vector tab" (only few of them in "personal tab")
3. they both together with "personal" maps are just "offline", so why not to merge them
Tomorow we have a new testing with six users, so we will be testing if "offline" is more logical and usable for basic users. If test will be success (probably will), in next version will be only online/offline/wms tabs.
@0709: based on tommi, quite logical suggestion, screen is turned on also if you are between 0 - 5 seconds before cross and you are moving. With this, you have always screen turned on during cross. Then timeout starts, so in your case, 15 seconds after turn, screen is turned on.
I'm aware, you are hunting every possible second to turn screen on. I'm personally hunting usability before few saved watts, sorry. Field test will show, if this is really too much even for basic usage (I mean usage where you do not care too much about every second).
EDIT: oki, I've added one more compromise ... "turn screen on" happen on every notification (as was before) + once, 5 seconds before cross in case you are moving. Which should confirm, that screen will be turned on during move over cross
Hi Menion
Good comprise.
Don't give up on navigation. It's the unique feature offered.

The ancient bug with old and new labels of a track still exists :(
See screenshot. CAN NOT UPLOAD IMAGE: LESS MEMORY FOR THIS OPERATION and YOU CANNOT POST INTO THIS FORUM.

@Bucky kid: thanks! Maybe finally done? :)
Using latest release 3.8.2., not beta.
Searched for the discussion about the bug (old code code snippets) but have not find it yet. But i know we discussed it end of last year when new labels were introduced and these labels were layered above the still existing old labels temporarily. See screenshot. That happens when i tap on the end of a track.
Hello Willy
I do not understand your PDF totally.
What is the number in the column "15 seconds".
Is it meters or seconds?
The yellow area is screen on, 15sec standard on time, right?
Where are the different instructions before a turn? 200m, 30m, turn?
My experience with the origin idea of simple 15sec was:
1. I often have to switch on the display manually, because I'm not sure where to go
2. I often have to switch on the display manually direct before the turn, because the display went black
3. I often have to switch on the display manually after the turn, because I don't know if I took the right way.
Take this into account and the display on time is the same as in the last/newest version, but I have to switch on the display manually 3 times.
The funny thing is, that the idea is 2 years old.
https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/topics/automatic_display_off_after_reaching_next_trackpoint_xm
So lets just test.
And I agree that a customizable setup (time, amount of instructions, distance of instructions) would also be fine, but not priority now in my opinion. Wrong instructions at the wrong time should be solved far before this issue here.
Thanks
Hello Willy
Sorry, its difficult to understand what you mean.
"In idea the more logical time shifted one trigger pro instruction screen sequence."
What do you mean. If you want, you can explain it to me with PM.
"...Pse free setting to only ONE command...",
If you mean:
1. Customizable amount of instructions before turn (1, 2, 3) -> in settings
2. Customizable time/distance of instructions before turn (15,35,300sec. or only at 20m) -> in config file for geeks
3. Customizable screen off timeout Xsek plus Xsek/m after turn -> in config file for geeks
Agreed.
"Your idea...maybe +15 m after turn and NO extra + 5 seconds ! That I would have supported !", Ok for me. It doesn't matter if its 10m+5sec or only 15m. Come on. It doesn't make sense to discuss about this.
I agree in principle to have as less display on time as possible but I have to find my way.
With customization opportunity my setup for biking would be:
One instruction 20sec before turn with display on at this time (at 5m/s it would be 50m before turn), display off 15m after turn. Thats it.
Bye

+1 with proviso if stopped at the waypoint the display is not continually forced back on like - at present the only way to turn off display is to cancel the navigation - really annoying

Screen turns on continuously when stop at waypoint ? I did not observe that behaviour ? What is triggering this ? Your set up ? (Btw. 50m:5m/sec = ? sec)
@0709 - while using
guiding mode (I believe you mainly test navigation mode, maybe different?) - when you are reaching the next navi waypoint, and the display is automatically turned on, if you then manually turn it back off Locus will just turn it back on again, about every second or two, until you have gone sufficiently past the waypoint; so - if you stop at the waypoint (or end of track) there is no way to turn off the display except to cancel guiding; this is not so good because it takes quite a few taps to re-enable guiding - when cancelled the track is hidden, so go to Data > Tracks > Folder > Track > unhide > or maybe guide
a navigation/ guiding pause feature would be nice :) then you could go "off track" for a while then resume navigation/ guiding a little later
>Btw. 50m:5m/sec = ? sec
I was just quoting another person, not my maths, 50m @ 5m/s = 10s - did I pass?
Something else:
New in 3.8.x is the ability to "convert [a trackpoint] to a navigation waypoint".
That is very nice, but I can't see why only navigation waypoint? There's a lot of cases when I would later like to add a waypoint to a recorded track that I forgot on the road - but I can't. I can only add "global" points, but that often makes no sense (example: "Begin of climbing part" is specific to a track and not to the map).
I can't imagine that's a technical problem - the dialog would be the same as the one opened while recording.

Sorry, I think you got me wrong: Editing
trackpoints is not the issue, it's the new converting into a
waypoint. I know, the words can be confusing and are used differently by different people, but I just used the same terminology as in Locus.
So I have a track (consisting of trackpoints) and want some of those points to be waypoints, just like when I added them while recording. Right now, that's only possible for that specific set of navigation waypoints.

big problem for me, I wasted lots of time deleting "special" characters & re-post, because otherwise I may have lost all my typing efforts; unfortunately forum.locusmap.eu doesn't allow recent personal posts to be deleted
I have just done a new simple test with 3.8.2 navigation mode - straight 300m track with single U-turn navigation point at the end. I enabled navigation mode perhaps 200m before the start of the track. I wonder whether there is a bug with the navigation instructions and timing.
A) I while walking about 1m/s. The first announcement with display turned on nearly 5 minutes and 494m before the waypoint. The big icon incorrectly says 287m to U-turn whereas small "Distance to target" field correctly says 494m.

B) The second and final announcement with display turned 28s/ 39m before the waypoint - this is pretty good. The big icon correctly says 39m to U-turn whereas small "Distance to target" field incorrectly says 246m.

This bug may already be fixed. I am running 3.8.2, not a later beta. I notice when I have an "out and back" track, that is the track goes in both directions in some locations (eg on same road), that the navigation mode doesn't work correctly. Here is whole track in Training Center - out & back + loop:
(http://s6.postimg.org/h9o16mfhp/whole.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/h9o16mfhp/)
I used BRouter without Computing Instructions, then I converted 14 points to navigation waypoints. Only the first was ever displayed in navigation mode (maybe because the track didn't overlap yet). After moving past the first point, the purple track was shown thin in both directions, and Locus displays question mark for distance to next waypoint (note arrows in both directions below):
(http://s6.postimg.org/lwu38e2ul/2015_05_08_15_43_11.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/lwu38e2ul/)
Once I got to the loop I cancelled the navigation, then restarted, and the remaining navigation worked OK.
(http://s6.postimg.org/os76f96ul/2015_05_08_15_46_51.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/os76f96ul/)
Also when I was editing the track, converting points to navigation waypoints, once I got to point #682 (finish the loop, and back along same road) tapping the right button would start moving the cursor back around the loop again instead of moving towards the end, so I had no way to convert anymore points.
I've attached the TCX too.

Locus recognises only 3 out of 16 Garmin PointTypes.
Should I therefore convert to only those 3 point types? This suggestion doesn't seem correct/ doesn't explain my experience today because I did a separate short walking test today where every 30m I had a bear/turn/sharp left|right navigation point. All icons were displayed correctly (only the straight was displayed as "generic"), and each was handled properly within the navigation system. Is it more related to the overlapping tracks than the point types?

Thanks for checking Willy. I should probably just wait until the next public release otherwise I will be confusing everyone - sorry.
If I can edit the Name tag direct from Locus then I have no need for export to Training Center & back into Locus. Bonus - TC is hopelessly slow for the 100..200km tracks that I am editing.
Having device GPS set to energy saving mode and starting track recording in Locus results in an empty track.
Would be nice to check this combination and give a warning with a button to device settings.

Screen turns on continuously when stopped at waypoint
Previously I noted in this forum that the display is automatically and continually turned [back] on in
guiding mode when stopped at a waypoint. I think Menion said this would be fixed in the next release - thanks.
I can now also say that the display is also automatically and continually turned [back] on in
navigation mode when stopped at a waypoint. When the waypoint is a traffic light or a POI you may be stopped indefinitely before continuing on. I suggest the display should not be continually forced back on in this mode either. This is where a Pause feature like in OsmAnd would also be very useful.
I have found another issue with guiding:
-when following the track in guiding mode, the `next waypoint` alert and haptic feedback is played only sometimes (going distant from track is not the case). I've tried to play with Notify on every trackpoint preference but seems not have impact on omissions.
Another minor issue I have observed is that preview of simple beep in next point notification makes Locus crash.
I've tested the new features yesterday for the first time during a 4h mountainbike ride.
I noticed the following when using Navigation (with a predefined track):
1. Automatic turn commands are useless in this scenario. Usually you are following a path and 90% of people are not interested in turn information, you just follow a path. This would only be relevant to rallye drivers, which I think we can exclude. What is needed are turnpoints/coursepoints at junctions - that's the only info that is relevant. If I come to a junction I need to know which way to go. So the screen should pop up at a specified distance and show me which path to take.
I've suggested a separation between turn points and junction points before, but I think Locus cannot recognize junctions (from what I've read) is this right?
One point where I could see turn points helpful is when you follow a rather unmarked path.
2. Screen-On modes with automatically generated commands drains battery. I used the default settings first, with generated commands and the screen turned on so often (and in 99% of the cases where it is not necessary because there is no other way to go) and my Nexus 5 would last maybe 2.5 hours. So I had to disable this.
I ended up oldschool, manually switching on/off the display when I was at junctions and did not know where to go - then just had a look at the track.
So right now what this means for me is: It would be best to push the TCX file support again and turns vs junctions. For future rides I will get back to creating my own coursepoints with bikeroadtoaster.
@berkley: thanks, good point. Till now, Locus was only checking an old system "network/GPS" providers that was valid till Android 4.4. Now it needs to be checked for this new "battery saving" mode. So done
@gynta: heh, thanks. For now, not a big problem.
@balloni55: I'm sure, system is still the same. There may be a cases, when some service (like track recording) is running, so you get an option to stop it manually. Also, not a big problem I think as you probably do not use this automatic restart too often
@0709, @Andrew ... hmm I'm lost in all these topics included in general discussion about new Locus version, sorry. I did a small fix in "turn screen on" feature, but nothing more.
@chbla: turnpoints at junctions is not possible directly in Locus in offline. Use some compute service like MapQuest or any other. You may also create routes with navigation waypoints directly in Locus in a combination of online services and manual modifications.
For me it seems we don't really get anywhere with the current automatically generated instructions - partially because Locus cannot compute certain things and because it's difficult to implement.
However, therefore I do not really understand why the tickets regarding TCX are not paid more attention to. If it's not automatically possible but we already have partial functionality for the interpretation of coursepoints - isn't it natural to extend this? It would be a lot less effort implementation wise than this automatic stuff. You just extend the functionality for coursepoints by allowing additional elements such as 0709 and Ingo suggested in their tickets, eg:
http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/edit-track-creation-of-waypoints
In essence it is just a coursepoint with an arbitary name or type that can be used for whatever a users wants and is displayed at distance X before the point. That's it, no magic no nothing, I don't understand why the whole thing is complicated so much.

@Joachim - I didn't see these 3 changes in 3.8.2.5 news, are you joking? I can't tell.

The order of the navigation waypoints is not mentioned because it is not fixed.
Is Menion releasing every in between step 3.8.2.x?

Nope, sorry.
Version 3.8.2.4 was not published to Beta channel, so if you are interested in news, read changes for both versions.

FYI
History of Version 3.8.x

I wasn't sure whether to start a new forum topic, a new help topic, or (finally decided) it was maybe a 3.8 beta issue so added to this topic.
I created a track, converted 14 track points to navigation points, then navigated the track. No problems so far. In fact with the new 15s display on time it was the best hands free navigation experience to date.
I then copied this track to test the return navigation (also partly to workaround the "loop" bug). I left Compute Instructions unticked to preserve existing course points. I then navigated the track. I initially followed a different physical route (kept recalculate unticked) so first 4 navigation points were not announced. However of the remaining 10 navigation points only 3 were announced. If I manually turned on the screen I could see a blue dot icon for each of the other 7 points, but didn't activate the display or generate an announcement. Why would 3 points work correctly, and not the other 7? I exported both tracks to TCX & have attached. I also notice that none of the track or course points have an actual timestamp - seems to instead be #seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z - for example last track point is 1970-01-09T11:09:16Z
update
I can possibly answer my own question - it appears when a track is copied (tracks > More > Create copy with reversal), any straight or U-turn navigation waypoint is not copied. All other 19 navigation waypoint types are copied (!). As a test I created a track with all 21 navigation waypoint types. I copied the track with reversal. And the 2 types mentioned don't appear as a waypoint. Pretty simple bug. If I copied the track without reversal all 21 navigation waypoint types are copied.
This is information I needed to know, thanks, fixed!
