Hi Gas,

To my knowledge for voice navigation you have to be online, so with a continuous data connection. Than in most remote area's with difficult connection, your battery won't last for a hiking day. (Not to mention data costs when abroad).

But offline you can have guiding along an imported route/track and have a beep alarm activated when you stray more than a set distance from your track. I use that a lot on field-marked tracks and it is a very helpful addition. And with GPS on all day in this weay of using I can easily make it through a full day with the battery of my Defy.

Great work Sebbo; even stretches of the GR5 on it. And our beloved Gran Paradiso!  :D

I had that once after installing a new version. Power down and restart your phone (it helped me; at least no more no more hickups with the new version then).

He Berkley, in your link to the manual, the "double tap" action is not described.

Hauptmenü (Knopf Nr. 1 auf dem Hauptbildschirm) → Einstellungen → Allgemein → Kartenansicht – Menü ausblenden → Wählen Sie "Leiste ausblenden".

If you are the author, pleas add this:

Ausgeblendetes Menu re-aktivieren mit Doppel-tap auf das Bildschirm" Or something like that (pardon my French.)

@jusc: they mean: double tap on the screen and the right sidebar re-appears.

Oeps, forgot about the "long tap" option, that is guiding to a point on the map. Luckily that also works without being online. (Just guide to the "unknown adress".)

It's raining here very hard now: so, when arriving at the "track' I have to start track guiding there ok?

Hello Rainer,

I think you talk about the situation where the start of the track is at a distance from where you activated Locus/"where you parked your car". As in the screendump. Notice the orange line from my position to the start icon of the track. So I can confirm your remark. Auto select best point does not make a difference here. It is not a big problem for me.

Preferred behaviour would be that the guidance line goes to the selected point. (And in the process, let's not kill the great ability of Locus to start guiding anywhere halfway the track and in both directions).

Quote from: "menion"this topic was discussed here a lot of times before I think. To be true, I actually do not want to change this. Actual system seems for me pretty useful. You always not have in phone so much tracks as points. You can also set types to tracks and use filter on them. Also, why to have older tracks in app? Isn't better to export them out of app and keep then in computer? Also when some support for web services that store track come, will this be still useful (categories for tracks)? I don't think so. What about others? I vote for actual system ;) (and hope that others too because I'm little bit lazy in this case)

Sorry for digging this one up again.
1. Anything with more than 15 files get's a folder structure for me.

2. If its better not to have too many tracks in Locus then I need to manage the tracks on my SD card, like this: See pic 1.

3. I can then import when needed and even "display only" not import, good, but the track names are cut short. And rotating the phone does not help: See pic 2.  So I would love a change on this html-like? screen.

With imported tracks that is far better, see here: pic 3 //http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/y365/henkvanderspek/locus%20track%20management/trackslandscape.jpg

4. Also there is the problem that exporting a recorded track does not let me put it in a category on the sd card straight away. Would be nice but I can arrange that later with OI file manager or something else.

Thanks to version 2.2.1 of Locus it shows now easily that my Netherlands Vector map is version 3.0 and all the rest is 2.0.

If the Map is big, any "center" is useless. Since we are talking online maps, we have a connection right, so I search for a city name and bingo, the map is there at that spot.

@jusc: I downloaded the province maps at least two months ago (so before the discussion in the other topic about 3.0)

so they are probably NOT 3.0

Is there another way to see detailed info about a downloaded map?

Yes, the water is white (as it is for the North Sea) but the Waddenzee is normal (white).

I am using Netherlands from here: http://gps.sebbosweb.com/

or province maps from here: http://vectormaps4locus.eu/Europe-Netherlands  (also white and no marshland)

Other features / Re: Record a Coaster ride?
March 31, 2012, 18:42:45
Last month I recorded every ski-ing day, quite satisfactory. My recording profile settings were: 100 meter or 60 seconds, giving me for exemple nicely 480 points over a total of 47 kilometers in 4 hours and 26 minutes (including lifts).

I suggest you give Joe his "never ask me again button" because I want to keep the Centering requester. When I want to check my trip for tomorrow, which is actually on another vector map I have to scroll five minutes in Western direction before I see any map at all (instead of an empty screen). That's why I prefer to start from the center of that map (i.e. the province).

Sidenote: I love the :"nearest map" info through the Quick Map Switch. It is a bit confusing that it has the same Icon as the Map Manager but the functionality is quite different (and very usefull for my small country with 14 small vectormaps).

You are welcome. And I have only 5 categories and four are empty since I am still learning how to use them.
And Defy has a lot of memory, anyway happy here.
