Is there a way you can put all the points in a folder by some sort-order so you don't have to do a free-text-search each time? That would save some tapping time.

Quote from: Menion on December 18, 2023, 08:20:27Error message in the "Navigate to" screen > in the error is clearly visible that the computed route is a one-point only line. How you did this?  :). Start and end locations are identical?
@Menion I was experimenting with https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=8701.msg74100#msg74100 checking #steps to navigate on a tablet. There is no GPS signal. Just desk exercise. The steps were as per my post. It is quite possible the Start and end locations were close, certainly on the same screen. But I have tried to reproduce without luck. I guess if that is an issue a more user friendly error could be displayed though.

How to reduce font size just of that one error screen? There was no incident ID I could scroll or drag up from bottom. That screen capture is the whole tablet screen with default Android font heights.

Quote from: preferlocus on December 18, 2023, 08:16:33I refer to last stored method for reaching the point (car/bike/etc - I always use car).
@preferlocus - I selected the Fast car first time, then for each further navigation the Fast car was still selected. Is this different for you? It's hard to imagine how the # steps could be reduced for an ad-hoc list of points except to have all points in a single ordered folder rather than needing a free-text search.

  • While commenting @ https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=8701.msg74100#msg74100 I got this sort-of-error a couple of times when the blue navigate icon is tapped
    You cannot view this attachment.
  • While doing a Cloud Sync I got this error, which would have been helpful except there is no point mentioning an "incident ID to include while contacting" if the ID doesn't exist
    You cannot view this attachment.

Out of interest I tried to reduce the # steps. But I couldn't...
  • tap on Points button in side panel (configured)
  • tap on magnifying glass
  • enter search title
  • tap on magnifying glass
  • scroll & tap on result
  • tap on navigate button
  • tap on Navigate To button
  • tap on navigate button
but if you are moving between 50 points (50 parcels) how is using "last stored point" useful?

Quote from: Tapio on December 16, 2023, 07:57:36Hi, in the Locus news I have seen there's a fancy startup animation. Not here. Is the startup supposed to look like mine?
@tapio - animation only on devices where Android version >= X.

Thanks @freischneider. I've just set it up. I had tried it ~2020 but wasn't working so well. Now both wired USB and Wifi TCPIP methods are working very nicely.

for others:
  • extract ZIP to C:\Program Files\scrcpy
  • connect phone to PC
  • scrcpy-console.bat
  • or with phone also connected over Wifi
  • scrcpy --tcpip

@alf - thanks for your report. I gave up on Bluestacks a long time ago. It is a memory hog. Certainly with *only* 8GB RAM it sometimes won't start. I'll give Remix a go, because for many desk/ office tasks it's much better using a PC with mouse & keyboard than a small screen device. Does Locus have documentation on the various Windows options? It would be useful for others if Remix is added to the list of options.

BUT does Remix still exist/ still evolving? The jide.com website appears dead, so is this option also a deadend?

https://github.com/JideTechnology/Remix-OS-For-PC says Remix-OS-for-PC project DISCONTINUED.

4.20.1.1: confirmed screen width fix for 7" displays - thanks

I note from https://www.locusmap.app/locus-map-4-20-and-other-pre-christmas-news/ about the opening "animation". I've never seen this on an actual device (3). Does the device need to be younger than certain age/ OS version before the animation occurs?

well spotted; confirmed

Certainly for the main categories of hiking, cycling, MTB, their associated color is a good reminder of the color to look out for on the map instead of needing the legend. Unlike @tapios icons, I don't find the other ones visually as useful.

settings > track recording > <profile> > Save & display: off - I am still seeing 2 behaviors - 1) mostly the track details screen is displayed 2) sometimes the screen is not displayed. I can get used to one or the other but still seems like a timing issue.

Quote from: Menion on December 04, 2023, 15:11:09Does this weird layout happen on your Samsung Tab A7 in portrait orientation?
@menion - yes, that screen capture is from the tablet in portrait orientation. It has only happened recently.

@menion - request for new Preset setting: settings > Maps > Offline maps > Text size. For some Presets I'd leave the size @ 100%, but for others it would be nice to make larger, say 175%.

Those icons are displayed correctly in my Windows text editor (Sublime Text) and even good ol' Notepad! You could just do a copy/paste between XML files. Must be unicode characters, so need to determine the alt code, or as @tapio says...

Quote from: Tapio on December 02, 2023, 08:06:36I will look at it. What I instantly see is, Karl draws two lines, left and right from roads
@Tapio - no, it's more complex for this bridge. Those are two completely separate/ individually mapped cycleways/ footpaths on each side of the bridge. Yes OSM has the provision/ shortcut for showing footpaths alongside a road, but this bridge is not mapped in OSM like that.

the URL I used in a previous post wasn't very helpful, try
north side https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1136907812
south side https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/177421221

Quote from: Tapio on December 02, 2023, 13:24:23What do you think about the coloring of residential area town masses?

All good Karl. Let me know when available to give it a try. Was your choice of Newtown (Wales?) to match my New Town (Tasmania)? nice ;-)
