+1 for me.

I'd like at least the hability to add my custom tracks categories... Up to know, I do some intellectual translation, like Plane = Motorbike... :)

Hum, I think I was not clear (as usual :)

If fact you don't need to use gradient : Look at the following picture, You've a track with a gradient according let's say to speed.

You divide this track in 3 differents tracks (one green where speed is < maxspeed/3, the second orange where 1/3 * maxspeed<speed<2/3 maxspeed, the last one red where speed > 2/3 maxspeed)..

Now you draw these 3 tracks (without gradients)... Of course, with 3 colors, it's awful, but if your do that with 10 colors or more, it may looks not so bad?

Hey guy,

Why not creating a unoffical "LOCUS - ADDON, add other maps" available on the market?

I'd like to do that, but unfortunately, I'm not a developper (even if I used to do some php when I was young)...

Of course this will not be a menion official addon, but something which may help every people to use old good online maps.

What do you think of that?

Sure that if you need to draw tracks point per point, it can take some memory.

I don't know Android API, but can you draw sort kind of dotted line? If you can put some "jumps", it may be more memory efficient to
 - extract all part of track where speed is between 0 and 9 km/h (for example) and draw this dotted line in green
 - extract all part of track where speed is between 10 and 19 km/h (for example) and draw this dotted line in orange
 - aso

So you only draw, let's say 10 or 20 dotted lines (according to the gradient of color that you expect) which join together

I'm conscious that this is not really a good solution, but I'm sure is better that doing it point per point
 - this will take far less memory (I think)
 - connection problems will only occur if speed change...

Stupid question 1 : does this trick allow to put back maps of version 1.5.1 ?
Stupid question 2 : Do we need to modify the xml file after each new release?

Hands up for me too. No problem for me if change is made also for compass (if I can change there and if actual mode is clearly explained)

Concerning bike holder, I've buy it on eBay (pm me if you want the model). It's only for desire z but I'm sure you can find one for other models . I always add :
 - a silicone protection (fortunately the bike holder is designed for use with such a protection)
 - a waterproof plastic bag in case of rain (you can still use touch screen)
 - a cable tie, to avoid the phone jump.

+1 for map switching (maybe can you use another phone hardware button like photo button,?) or during a long press on map button?

Hmmm, I made a mistake (copy paste error):
The question I wanted to post was : What different do you make between
 "Rotate by compass" and
 "Show view"

But now, I've opened Locus and now I see what does "show view" mean ! :) :)

Concerning automatic switching, The use is very simple : at 0 Km/h, bearing can not work (it's just impossible since bearing come from delta in GPS localisation) but compas is working great. During movement, Both should give the same orientation, but when I'm biking, I can assure you that bearing if far more stable and precise than compas. So I think it make sense to switch between compas and bearing...  The switch must only be between "Bearing up" and "Rotate by compass" of course. Is it clear? Am I stupid?

What about keeping Locus 1.5.1 FREE and continue upgrades on Locus Pro?
EDIT : OK, answer is on the blog! :)

F***.
So, tell me if I'm wrong, we need to quicky download all necessary google/yahoo maps because they will be removed?

Another idea, maybe much more complicated, the possibility to set something like : below xxx km/h use compas, above, use bearing... For me it will be perfect (I always switch during biking because I prefer bearing in movement and compas when I'm completely lost, looking for my track) :)

Svarbjors, What difference you make between
"North up"
"Bearing up?"

Locus 3.12? :D

No seriously, I don't know... Looking on Google, it seems that some software are able to do that : http://goopstechnologies.com...  But I don't know if it's cost effective or simple? :)

In the past, I used to have almost the same problem (nothing to do with cartography, it was about wave propagation), and the software I used (Matlab) was able to do that easily (It was only necessary to specify a third color argument for each X,Y ...) And it was really easy to convert a value to a color using RGB values...

But I don't know how do you plot tracks on Locus, so I can't really help...

Implemented / UnSelect ALL button in track list
April 14, 2011, 09:46:29
It is a little annoying not to have an "Unselect ALL" button in track list. (it is very useful for example before merging or deleting tracks, to avoid old tracks to be selected.

The trick to do a "select ALL" and then to invert selection is really long when you've lots of track in the track list...

I think that select all button may be replaced by a "unselect all" when at least 1 track is selected...
Or maybe you can remove the invert selection button. I cannot find for what case this button may be useful (especially when you've recorded dozens of tracks)? but I probably miss something...

I hope that there is no similar wish on the forum this time. :D (last time I was looking for "picture" but the term used was "pic")
My wish (ok, it's just one of my wishes) is that Locus can be able to plot a track with altitude or speed using different colors (eg green at 0 km/h, Orange at 20 and red at the max speed)...
