The link to online theme legends for my zipped Voluntary theme no longer works for me in either Locus v3.58 or v4.7. The theme manager does not show the small green icon for legend for them.

 On the last ride with my mtb I once again had the fortunately rare problem that the programme flashes when the screen is activated in my own preset. The screen switches on and off, back and forth. So I quickly activated the standard default setting without the activated screen switch-on. After some trial and error, I then deactivated the screen on in my other preset so that I could continue driving. I tried different settings but it didn't improve anything. Covering up the proximity sensor didn't help either.

I had raised this before without finding anything (26.03.2021). Could it be possible to reset the screen activation if I activate my own default setting again?

I found that "value_temperature_current" variable in data/tts/en(uk, cs,..,).tts files doesnt work at all.
For example, if I modify the default value to "current temperatue is %V", then LM reads just "temperature %V".

However ko/ja.tts are done well.  Please check this, when you have time.

Google still does not confirm the new LM4 version  ::) so if anyone wants to use this new, it needs to be updated from Google Drive.

ah sorry and thanks for the reminder. I've finally read your report correctly. The current behavior is correct. Settings define how waypoints should be auto-loaded when the cache is displayed on the map. But, every cache also keeps its own list of already visible waypoints.

Thanks for the description, but it is not clear to me what exactly is the problem. Is there any settings that cause this on/off behavior?

I had to change the previously used %V1 parameter to generic new "%V". "%V1" is already reserved for the "speeds_V1".

But now I see that I'm stupid! There already exists a variable for this "%S"!! Damn. Hmm, I'll change it to the next app version. Seems that these TTS files are a little bit over-complicated. I was made a long time ago to solve issues with incorrect formatting of speech in some TTS engines, but hard to say if it is still needed.

Anyway, this (https://github.com/asamm/locus-map-tts-commands/blob/master/src/main/assets/tts_commands/en.tts) is the latest valid TTS file that will work from the next app version. So if you want to modify any ko/ja file, feel free to publish it over pull-request or simply share it here with me and I'll include it in the next app version. Thanks!

I know. Because they force us to remove AFA from the public version, they need again 3+ days for some manual validation.

I removed the Voluntary theme completely and then reinstalled from Locus store. Relevant themes are Voluntary V5, Voluntary LE, Velocity V5, Velocity LE. (Other versions should not have been in the zip, my mistake). No green legend icon, "Map Legend" greyed out.

Ah, I see it, thanks. Hope this change does not break any other feature in handling of legend files. It starts to be a little bit complicated (more and more)  :).

Could someone please explain how to use the new "[GOLD] World wide satellite maps"? I tried a search of "sate" from map manager but the 2 results don't appear relevant - see attached screen caps.

You should see this map directly at top of map manager screen.

They have written so that they pay money for these cards. I have had satellite cards before. I think they were from Google. What is better about the new ones?

There never were official satellite maps. If you use any maps from Google, their usage violates the terms of use of Google. These once are of course legal and paid by us. Because of this, they are part of the Gold Premium, simple.

And better? We made an analysis and in many areas around the world, Google Maps were a little better than these. Anyway not everywhere ... depends. Anyway because the Locus Map app can't legally use Google satellite maps, this is the second-best choice ;). And they will be soon available also for the web planner...

I attached my settings for my problem with the blinking display.

The new LoSatMaps are brilliant in our area - thank you Locus!

thanks for the screenshots. I can hardly say where is a problem without a simulation of the problem. Except for the proximity sensor, I use the same settings. No one other reported any similar issue as I remember, complicated. I may only suggest disabling the turn on/off by the gesture as this is probably the most risky and less reliable feature that may have any negative effect here.

I'm facing a weird effect: installed AFA latest 4.7.1 from GoogleDrive.
Then did an update check with GooglePlay. LM4 is shown as up for an update.
Why is that, pls?

Did something change with point rendering lately? I just updated to 4.7.1 and the zooming performance went from buttery smooth to a horrible 2 fps with about 6000 enabled points, no tracks.

Points didn't seem to affect zooming speed at all before... now it's close to unusable.

Performance is dead no matter if any of these points are actually visible or not, ie zooming is at 2 fps even in completely different parts of the planet. If I remember correctly, Locus had the same problem years ago. Then there were some very efficient fixes that made everything super smooth. Now the problem is back.

Or was I just dreaming? Can do more testing if you could link to the APK before 4.7.1.

Edit: rebooting the phone fixed it, locus Multipoint FPS is back to normal.

No FPS slowdown here. I tested geotagged photos, Locus displays ~10000 POI here on my Mate 20 X.

I had (have?) an unrelated issue where Locus got confused which online or offline map to use. Yesterday I was experimenting with the new online satellite map - very nice. But then I switched back to usual offline LoMap & OAM maps. When I zoomed out past approx. ZL12 ie. ZL11 or lower, with Wifi disabled, the offline map could no longer be displayed, as I think it was partially trying to still access online data - each tile displayed "connection failed". It was impossible to fix without rebooting, and I can no longer reproduce.

hmm, this is similar to what Josef žajdlík wrote before. Google Play offer update even both versions has an identical internal ID. This is quite a problem. Complications and complications because of Android filesystem  :'( ... this time I have no idea how to simply solve it to be true.

I made some changes in the rendering system, but based on the benchmarks, there should be a tiny speed improvement, not an opposite  ???. Restart helped, fine. But please watch it and let me know if you find anything repeatable, thanks!

I get the logic - the latest official ones should have the same ID, hence no chance to escape Google Play's mess up.
EXCEPT with the next beta - which since recently has an increased ID :-)

Good that legends inside zipped themes are once again supported!
However, I keep thinking that I ought to tap on the small green map "legend" icon to view the legend. (I *know* I should tap on the triple dots.) I don't think it helps that I've just had to tap on a similar icon in black to get to the theme chooser.

The picture viewer for geotagged photos IMO needs a rework in order to be useful. Swiping through pictures, fullscreen, it's pretty lacking.

Here's a simple idea for a maybe intermediate solution: on tapping the picture in the bottom window, can't Locus just open a 3rd party viewer app, ideally user defined? So that the attachment window from the 2nd screenshot is not used.

ps: notice my qr coded picture. It links to Google Maps. After I asked for it, the author of xnconvert added qr code to the toolset. It's awesome. He also added Pluscode. hmm, 3-dots are quite self-explanatory, isn't it? I really would like to keep all manipulation with themes under three dots.

hmm, so the only problem is full-screen? Because swiping between multiple photos should work correctly in case, you have all photos attached to a single point. Open in any 3rd party image browser app is doable, but it will work only for single image. In case, point has multiple images, app won't be able to request display of all images at once.

@Menion The three dots are self explanatory, but the non functioning icons are not!

I do not fully understand what you expect. That the tiny green icon will be clickable? I use these small icons in the lists on many places in the app and they are never clickable, always only inform about anything. The icon is so small, that precise click can't be guaranteed.

I'm not sure that I'm aware of seeing the small icons elsewhere.  In the previous version, I think the tiny icon was an overlay(?) on the theme icon and I never thought it was clickable. The question to me is how to show it's not clickable.

You click on it once and notice that it is not clickable. Then their head has learned. It should stay like this. Because if more flags are added it becomes impossible to click them. The 3 point menu always says that there are more options. Our brain learns so fast and we get used to it very quickly. And a new one doesn't know what the flag means anyway. In the menu he then has a full text.

Menion, I think you are referring to pictures attached to one waypoint. But I am talking about Geotagged Photos, which Locus displays, based on their latlon data. Taken from user defined directories.
If Locus would access a 3rd party app for a photo, depending on the app it would be possible to swipe through pictures in the same (file system) folder, which I'd like.
Even better would be if Locus was able to fullscreen display and while swiping through pictures, also select the related points on map.

See attachment. There's just no way to look through all those pictures there.

i have observed this behavior on several geocache tours.
I am very sure that the very slow response of LM4 is due to the creation of multiple (5 or more) geocache logs by voice input.
Does this info help?

Editing of the main menu still gives me headaches and usually I end up not making changes to my main menu items.

What I do:
I reorder and change certain entries. Then eg I go to "All features" in the main menu. After leaving this, then re-entering main menu, all my changes are gone.

Also, some entries can be added twice. There was no checkmark beside "Share", so Locus allowed to add  a second share entry. Also Dashboard etc., chaos. See screenshot.

Geotagged photos > I'm not saying it can't be done better, but what you want is a problem and also ... app display specific photos on the map and it does not make sense to swipe between these photos. If you want to do this, why don't you simply open your favorite photo browser? I'm also worrying that with recent changes in the filesystem, this "depending on the app it would be possible to swipe through pictures in the same (file system) folder" won't be any longer technically possible, but it is another story.

On your picture is some recorded track with photo points. What immediately comes to my mind is a solution where all photos from attached waypoints should be united directly under the track and displayed there as a gallery ... hmm  8)

Nah in the screenshot, that's just a track which has no technical connection to the displayed photos. I take pictures the normal OS way, not via Locus photopoints. Do conversions/renaming on PC, then copy back to Android.

It is the first version with a completely new purchase system + added option for time-limited one-time purchases. Probably not too interesting for most of us here anyway this is a preparation for vouchers and purchases over LoCoins (expect during April/May). And hopefully later also purchases without a Google ...

@tapio this is just a naïve suggestion, I use an app called F-Stop; with just 2 taps all the photos from all Android folders are visible in one screen. Probably other "photo apps" are the similar.

@menion - is there a problem with the Help system? When I add a new topic https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/add there is no Submit button so I can't save the topic. It has only been like this for max 2 weeks since I last added a help topic. I was trying to add a new topic about the RSS feed links no longer working - click the link results in error EXCEPTION_ Class 'Forums_Service_Forums' not foundException on line 15 in file etc..

I hadn't noticed until now, but the help desk RSS feeds may have been broken for last 7 months according to my news aggregator Feedly. To reproduce: from web browser > Locus Map help desk main page https://help.locusmap.eu > click on any of 3 RSS feed icons (Questions | Ideas | Problems) > error page with exception & stack trace (attached).

Andrew, I am an F-Stop user, using all its possibilities, like those dynamic albums... it's just this thing: You're in Locus, see those geotagged photos, but viewing them isn't fun (no fullscreen) nor can you easily go to the "next".
But I can see now, "prev photo/next photo" is not easy to define if geotagged photos are unrelated to tracks. Thinking further about it, I am burying the idea of Locus allowing to swipe through geotagged photos.

@tapio - yeah, I had no idea what I was talking about/ what your use-case was.

@menion - how to access the dashboard editor gone in the latest beta? The dashboard editor button disappeared from my main menu. I read release notes "united Dashboard choose & edit dialogs" but how does it work - ahh I see - double tap the Dashboard button to access editor. Progress/ intuitive/ discoverable? not sure. So I tried double tap with my other main menu buttons, maybe some early easter egg - but all the same action as a single tap. So is the new Dashboard button unique (it now has single/ long & double tap actions)?

No Dashboard editor in latest beta.
EDIT: Ah, as Andrew reported. I activate dashboards via profiles, no dashboard button needed in button bar - I see no way to access the editor.

@tapio maybe you misread my last post, or I wasn't very clear? Double tap the Dashboard button to access the editor. I do sometimes find double taps are slightly unreliable, interpreted as two single taps.

Double-tap? This should do nothing :). Anyway sorry, you are of course correct. Currently working solution: long click on the dashboard button in the function panel. The solution in the next version: all except function panel button, opens dashboard chooser by default. Thanks guys!

EDIT: hmm it seems to already work correctly ... are you able to display list of dashboards? If so, then "Edit" option is under three dots on every line ...

But Menion, I don't want to have a dashboard button in the button bar (display of dashboards is bound to presets), but sporadically start the dashboard editor via the main menu...
EDIT: AH. List of dashboards can be accessed via main menu and EDIT is behind 3 dots. Good.
If a dashboard is visible, it turns it off only. Was a bit confusing at first.

Switching between maps is something I do very frequently on the trail, most of the time toggling between OSM and a satellite map. I believe this is a very frequent operation in Locus, especially now that you have these gorgeous satellite maps in Gold without google hacks. Anyway, map changing has become a bit of a cumbersome multi-tap operation recently: tap on the map icon, tap on the current map name (feels a bit illogical here), find new map in the list, tap on new map name. One could probably put the quick map change function in a toolbar, but that doesn't make the tap orgy less complex really.

How about using a long tap on the map icon (currently unused) to toggle between the previously selected map and the current one? That would make things super-easy and fast if all you need is two maps, like OSM and Satellite.

Switching between two maps is simple. Just use the function "Overlay Map" with cover 100%. This can be turned on either a separate button or in the "Map screen" "click" Eye ".

Hello,
while recording a track, especially when I use locus for testing, it happens that I want to exit without saving.
Then I press the back button twice and the warning appears that there is a track being recorded.
If I touch the trash, the confirmation message appears, but once the ok is given Locus does not close, but returns to the map. So again back back to close Locus.
I think after confirmation of the cancellation it should close.

I suppose that would be twice as slow and eat twice as much battery for rendering. Or does the overlay handling have special optimizing for funky 0% and 100% use case?

Anyway, I use the overlay for different things (strava heatmap), so it wouldn't help my case. Locus still struggles big time with caching from the heatmap tile server btw, but that's a totally different story :-).

On a slower tab handling huge maps with the overlay feature, I found that even in a 100% setting the base map is rendered, then overlay on top.

@menion - ahh sorry - once the category is changed from default Uncategorized, then the Submit button appears. Is this new behavior? What if none of the categories are appropriate? Somewhat confusing; I think I would disable the Submit button rather than hide, or even better allow user to click Submit but then display an error message that a category must be selected. PS. I see the Submit button is still visible when Title, description & Application fields are empty, and clicking Submit then displays helpful messagebox "Please fill in the required fields".

0% is obviously a simple case... 100% not so much. At least Locus would have to check if the overlay map data comes with an alpha channel. I use a 100% strava heatmap overlay quite often and obviously, the basemap still has to be rendered.

i have folders with POI's i created myself, there are no geocaches inside them!

If none of these POI's is displayed and I click on the icon in front of the folder name I get in the selection > filter fav10/50

Check this (https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:management#how_to_filter_points) manual page. A little lower is "Save filter for later use" section.

So you probably have two saved filters and these are offered when you tap on the "Load whole folder" icon.

Thank you, now I understood, however the set filter should only work if the parameters for it are also available, otherwise I expect a corresponding error message.
At the moment it is so that with a folder with normal POIs so without "fav's" all are selected when I click on "fav xx".
Another problem is that I work the next weeks as you know with LM4FREE and so I can not create or edit filters.

Hmm understand, but this is complicated. To check if the filter makes sense for a specific folder, it should be necessary to load all data and compare them > impossible.

Currently, the filter is simply loaded and applied to all data. If the filter contains any geocaching parameters and points are not a cache, these parameters are simply ignored.

Well, the scenario is vector base map and MBtiles overlays. So any expensive rendering of the basemap is burning battery for nothing.

Hmm, Drag&drop for GPX import and sat maps are since evening on web planner ;). And I'm going to prepare a new app version as well ...

Hello Menione, Import GPX is good, but there is a possibility to add the route cant. There is only the option to open in the editor, but the route changes completely after conversion. See SCR.

I wanted just to notify about the news on the web planner. Because this is (fortunately) mainly the task of Jan and Ondřej, I do not have to care about it and also do not have to help solve problems :P

So best to report any problems, as it usually
- generic repeatable issues on our help desk (probably fastest method)
- or for a more advanced topics or discussion, I've created a board here on the forum (https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?board=64.0). I'll inform Jan and Ondřej to watch this board so they should hopefully react faster than when I have to inform them like now I do. Thanks
