So this was about the numerous places which may restrict Tasker/Locus/TaskerAddon in doing their (inter-app) business.

a) app permissions
b) background running/allow start app from another one (in Huawei that is found under "App-Start")
c) (Vendor) OS sending apps to sleep

Solved 
In my relevant presets I had "Always screen on=Disabled"

- the LoMaps V3 was generated as 512x512 tiles and zoom or area is really "shifted" in comparison of 256x256 V4 tiles. There were minor changes in `zoom-appear` attribute for some elements. But it was mainly for zoom-levels 9 - 10 (I think). Do you have some specific requests to change the zoom-appear for certain elements?

Well, everything is possible. But there are so-called JohnThorn maps in Locus Store. These maps combine OSM data with OS open data. John Thorn created powerful tools to combine the data but the theme would be (IMHO) a little bit better. What about contacting John and discussing with him a better theme?

To be honest I don't know the exact reason for `foot=ft_yes` and `bicycle_bic_yes` but it was very likely because bug in tag matching in Mapsforge as menion already mentioned. This problem is solved https://github.com/mapsforge/mapsforge/pull/1366 (currently only in Locus and waiting for the new official release of mapsforge.)

4.14.2.4: after crashing with previous beta .3 & revert to public APK, I took the risk & installed latest anyway - and so far none of the previous issues with black screen or freezing - well done @menion.

I think they are exaggerating a bit here. Why do they always have the screen on ? Normally they are hiking or biking and look at the path. On Locus you look only if you need information. So the screen can stay off 70% of the time.

Exaggerating? I can assure you the permanently burnt in locus on our screens is very real, on multiple phones meanwhile. And Locus is not even configured to be always on, I'd estimate around 3-4 hours total at full brightness each day (on bicycle handlebars). That's apparently enough to kill displays in less than a year. Affected so far: Samsung Galaxy S10+, S20FE, S22Ultra. Next in line waiting for Locus tattoo: S23Ultra.

Obviously this is a "power user scenario" that won't affect too many people. But why kill displays if you don't have to? Software counter measures (ui pixel shifting) should be rather simple.

Alternatively, should Locus warn people with a huge red alert when your screen on time exceeds 2 hours for the day? "DEAR USER, PLEASE TURN ME OFF, YOU'RE USING ME WRONG" :-)

I have a 3 years old mobile with Amoled screen. During all that time I use it 21 hours a week with screen on in Locus Map. The screen is perfect.

I WAS able to revert to public 4.14.

Please give me a hint how you did it.

@CabrioTourer backed-up settings, uninstalled beta, unsubscribed as beta tester in app store, installed public 4.12, ran LM & logged in, restored settings, restart, all good.

@menion - I've done many LM backup/ restores over the years, and this one is least trouble - no trouble! Well done!

Ahh, Auto-Loading. I had a suspicion in that area as well, so I went from all sources to identical source. Assuming that the raster map (which has NO gaps) in a special _split folder would not be the same source as the "ghost" raster map in the /Locus/map folder.
Now I tried "no autoload" and the ghost tiles disappeared.

As the ghost tiles ONLY appear when the overlay is active, there is definitely an error in the respective Locus logic.
With no overlay, I can use any mode of auto load, without having ghost tiles.
