Quote from: freischneider on June 16, 2023, 21:09:54I think most people want to go straight back to the map when changing a theme.
Not sure. But Maybe Menion could register the left area again for apply+goto map. Just like points/tracks.

Thx, I see it remembers the expand/collapse (click on <screenshot>) state of themes, even after restart LM. Good. Some of us prefer to directly access theme, some don't, so we can choose.

But, bug, after restart of LM, theme/theme option click shows no reaction. EDIT: cannot reproduce any more. hmm.

I like the behaviour of clicking themes, return back to "Map content", I think it's practical and transparent now.

Still hesitant to allow hiding more stuff? Wanted to hide layers and online LoPoi...

Counters for tracks/points, nice.

@Andrew Heard
can't imagine how this may be possible. Maybe you used theme extracted, not in zip form?

@Tapio
no problem. We use a small generator for this, anyway created final version of EN legend for LoMap is attached here. Not sure how may I help you more with it ...

@Andrew Heard
- error when clicking a legend: issue in the theme. Legend is in this theme defined over "lnk" file it should contain the relative path to the XML file (as I wrote for example here).

I'm thinking if I should fix this on my side (rather not) so suggest to @karlchick to fix it in the theme.

@Tapio
hidden tracks + visible track waypoints > I would like to stay with the current solution, because waypoints are directly connected to the track!

@T-mo
agree that hide points/tracks need some tweaks. I'm currently changing it a little bit ...

Bug > ah, thanks, will be fixed.

OAM cannot die, must not die. I'm convinced he feels that itch to continue soon enough 🙏🏻

Really like the new 'map-screen content'-menu. Quick access to theme's options, superb!

Slow opening already noted.

problem:
when having point- or track-layer set to no-show-state and then enabling points or tracks them get of course not shown. This might be irritating or understood as disfunction, definitely with only 1 point or track. Maybe show-state should be automatically switched to 'show'?

Bug: with track-layer set to no-show and then going to track-details, the preview-image with map does not get shown and when hitting the go-to-map-icon Locus runs into problems and jumps back or crashes.
With track-layer set to show everything is normal.

Awesome release. Quicker access to theme options. Yasss. And finally! we can hide embedded waypoints. I am once again very thankful for your hard work.

Definitely needed: Allow to filter out any setting. I don't need temp. map items or map overlays. You're probably hesitant because new users, shoot in the foot etc...

Bug: Embedded WP do not disappear instantly,some screen refresh issue?

As Andrew wrote, the panel comes out sluggish.

The line break (screenshot) does not look beautiful. And creates some wasted vertical space. See attachment.

I also really like the new content. Especially the track hiding. And so that you can omit certain areas altogether. Since I don't use the shading normally (only makes sense in the mountains). Would be nice if you could also deselect that.

New Beta version with some fixed crashes etc. and mainly a new side map-content panel with hopefully useful improvements. Feedback is welcome of course, thanks.

Beta version 4.17.1.3, download.

Another 1%/h battery saving (down to 5%/h while recording track, with a 1" hgt for  the region of the track, on a Galaxy S10), now that the hgt evaluation once per second is avoided.
TXs a lot, Menion!

New Beta version with a big bunch of minor fixes and various updates. Enjoy the weekend!

Beta version 4.17.1.2, download.

@CabrioTourer
thanks for the description. I'll have to read and check it more carefully after the weekend!

Hi guys, sorry for the small delay in answers > hiking (testing) vacation.

@CabrioTourer
maybe you see a problem I still don't. When you pick a point as a via-point during planning, it gets duplicated. One is attached to the track and one remains as before. Isn't this a problem you see? I'm thinking how to do it better because currently track needs to have all via-points placed directly on any existing trackpoint ...

@joeloc
status bars and navbars > we fought with them a lot! The current solution is the result of desperate tries how to hide them completely. And the old system is really what you found > expert settings. There is nothing more you may do. Ah, as @T-mo wrote ... option in Expert settings use on own risk. It won't work 100% correctly on all devices.

@Will C
give a try to the Menu > Share > Screenshot  ;)

@Andrew Heard
Presets ... hmm, I do not like problems that contain the word "sometimes" :D. Please try to find a reliable way to simulate it and I'll gladly look at it.

Very interesting! I came across this discussion by chance only a week ago.

I myself had noticed only a few weeks ago that Locus suddenly caused very high battery consumption, always when navigation and/or track recording was running. On day trips, a power bank had to be connected after only 3-4 hours.

Now we were hiking in the Liberec area (Czech Republic) for about 2 weeks. Very beautiful area by the way! Every day with track navigation along planned routes and track recording. Strangely enough, there were days when the battery lasted through the day without any problems, but on other days it was already empty after a few hours.

After reading this discussion I remembered that in March I had downloaded the 1" files of the elevation data (24.7 MB each) for the whole of Germany from Sonny, which coincides with the beginning of the high battery consumption.

These were not available for the Czech Republic, where I still have the small 3" files (2.7 MB).

Now the region west of Liberec is still covered by the Sonny file N50E14.hgt, while those from the city and further east are covered by the 3" file N50E15.hgt. And indeed, it was the tours in the west (Ještěd Mountains, etc.) where the battery consumption was extremely high. In the eastern Jizera Mountains, the battery lasted the whole day.

I would never have thought that this could be the cause without these posts on the forum. I then replaced all the 1" files with the small 3" files and the battery consumption was normal again. Even with another hike in the N50E14 range. 😊

@Radim V:
I interpret Michael's post as feedback of his current user experience.
Of course a server side database and search- and filter- tool-chain needs it's time to be developed and to mature, and building such an online-search is a bigger project.
Though user-input- and display-framework is a another thing.
I guess Michael prefers the choice within L to also profit of G-API and G-results, app-side. That would be a 2nd block/path behind the scene which might already be available and not active.

Using online search a little bit and thinking about it a bit more, this is my summary:
- Google data repository is unmatched, beating Locus and any other searches hands down, whatever they try, for years to come
- Locus, for strategic reasons, also with iOS support in mind needs this independent online search
- on Android the Google API search is at no cost to Asamm, as Menion stated
- combining both searches technically seems not feasible, as per Menion's response
- to me, the obvious approach is
-- to have a Locus Search for Android and iOS alike
-- put a Google Search as separate function into the Android version

That would stop any need for tough comparisons and discussions, a d empower users to make their own choice, based on their needs.
Giving USERS a choice may not be a technician's first emotional approach, but is beneficial for all parties in the end.

And above approach would not add complexity to the UI a d user experience.

Hope is the last thing to die ;-)

Cheers
Michael
