At present long-tap is either ignored, or displays the address (settings > controlling > tap & hold. I use the latter. But a more general system could be long-tap > context menu > whole range of menu options, not just address.

Unhelpful track stats - I don't have a heart rate or cadence sensor. Display N/A (Not Available) or better, don't display if N/A or even better, allow configuration.

I don't suggest any changes @menion. I was purely debating pros &  cons of the original post & my experience (pitfalls for young players) from years ago with an old Garmin eTrex before moving to smart(er) devices.

IMHO, personalized settings exposed to profiles, already available for bicycle and car profiles, should be implemented.
+1

From the Route Planner/ saved track, we have 15+ profiles for calculating ETA; all a compromise; none include a powered vehicle profile even though many powered vehicles are available as the routing service.

Then to add confusion (maybe just me) there are different set of 35+ track activities; many of which seem to serve the same purpose/ overlap with the profiles, but here there are 9 powered "transportation" options.

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.3.+ ( 28. 7. 2021 )

@tapio - excellent observation. In fact I was going to ask a related question, but now you have solved it for me:- why when I have <main menu > LoPoints > Show on map:unchecked> but still 100's of POI appear on the map until each time I <clear temp points>. It appears there is a conflict/ fight with <Map screen content > LoPoints>.

If I check/uncheck <main menu > LoPoints > Show on map> then it should at least also be reflected in the <Map screen content > LoPoints> setting, and visa versa?

Or, as part of the LoPoints promotion from beta to fully working, this will be better resolved ;-)

LM4.3.2.2 - has been freezing a few times (5) in "desktop" testing. I've not had this before, or only a long time ago. Maybe ~30s Android displays "Locus Map isn't responding - close | wait", but no option to send a report. Not sure quite how to reproduce yet but I've been doing lots of double taps/ mucking around with Presets/ moving function buttons. double taps on buttons instead of map (by mistake) seems enough. Track recording is off; GPS is orange (inside). I've probably never tried this before. Timing/ deadlock issue?

I then disabled GPS, and no amount of mis-directed double taps caused crash. 5m minutes of double taps & no crash. Unsure how to provoke now ;-(

PS (6 hrs later): just experimenting with track folder styles, and 2 lockups. Not related to any double taps. Also different behavior: a really slow response to Back tap without lockup, then OK again.

A little later: btw. thanks for the precise testing and report. The blank panel should be solved now.
@menion - 3 recorded tracks - no further problems - well done

duplicated tracks after recording happened to me once or twice as well ... still no idea how this may happens, sorry. Does it happen always to you?
it has only happened during the "blank recording panel" issue, not since

4.2.1.1: run LM4 > opened track recording panel totally blank
@menion - further testing: all foreground apps killed, phone not restarted during testing, single 6km walk with new track started each ~500m, exit/ restart LM4 if track recording panel is blank. Nothing is 100% repeatable, just more/ less likelihood of blank panel occurring. Track recording is auto-started.

  • new observation/ not previously reported: when the track recording panel is blank, the map content panel is 100% also blank
  • if track recording panel is not tapped immediately after start of recording there is more likelihood of blank panel occurring after further 500m
  • so reverse, if track recording panel is tapped immediately after start of recording there is far less likelihood of blank panel occurring after further 500m
  • generally when the recording is saved then viewed in the list, the track is duplicated
  • the most recent track(s) remain visible (Eye icon) while for the older tracks something is turned off visibility
  • the #visible tracks in the folder is displayed as 0 even though some are visible (screen cap)
  • database corruption?
  • One time the panel was OK, then 30s later on next tap blank. But another time all OK for 5 minutes.
I can upload the database but it is very large 300MB.

upfront apologies - I haven't followed the detail of these discussions but...
instead of a simple track split, have you considered copying/ duplicating the track, then each track still retains a copy of all POI, then delete the partial track from each, but retain the POI for each?

When I click on it, the icon on the left hand side changes, but the information is still the same "Unbekannte Straße" (engl. Unknown road). The information never changes.

This plus the bar which already existed, steal a lot of usable space from my screen and annoys me every time I use the navigation.
@K0nsch - I've always disliked the wasted top line too, especially for "Unknown road", maybe create a help topic @ https://help.locusmap.eu for voting? Even the 2nd line from the top could become hidden via a new setting. Most other items on the map can now be hidden, and via presets, so there a precedent/ hope for further improved UX ;-)

@menion urgent help required please: I don't know if this is related to MapGooglePlay_4.0.2.5_1010_beta but I've never experienced this issue of not being able to save a track before due to "unknown problem". Not a very helpful error message BTW ;-( It was a simple use-case of track recording > track save. 100% ordinary. There is plenty of free memory; I've tried rebooting; I've tried pausing/ un-pausing; I've tried selecting different folders & activities. So at present I have no way of further track recording which is quite annoying (yes, my risk of beta testing).

I next installed the latest 4.0.2.6 but the same problem. I note when exiting Locus there is the expected orange "paused" msg but then a generic Android error message "Locus Map has stopped; Close App " (no other details). I have captured & emailed a bug report to you.

I next uninstalled 4.0.2.6 & installed (revert to) MapGooglePlay_4.0.2.4_1008_beta which was working yesterday w/o this problem, and now I was able to save the track, phew, although now have to fix/ restore a lot of settings.

I exported the track & checked with Windows Garmin BaseCamp & looks 100% OK.

One last note: when I now go to the track list I can see that each attempt to save the track was actually successful, despite the error to the contrary - I have 10+ identical tracks. I will leave Locus w/o attached subscription account & not make any setting changes for now, in case the current settings/ state could be of interest to you.

...or calculate a round trip with all the already defined points, if possible...?
@sbouju - the service is provided online by 3rd party GrafHopper, so not within control of Locus team. It only works with zero or one defined point; not more... It needs an improved/ more helpful error message.

Both "itineraries" have different use-case. In the route planner, it is mainly about the option to see all segments on one screen and the option to change easily it's order. In the active navigation route planner, it is about a common itinerary known from bigger navigation apps.
@Menion - for me it's the same use-case otherwise I wouldn't have suggested. For me it's to efficiently see the whole planned route (shaping, Via points, segments and road names), sometimes by confirming a known road name has been chosen (or not). At present my planning workflow is Route Planner > Save > Navigation (dummy test) > Itinerary > confirm {> Route Planner etc.}.

Can't imagine how to merge them to be true  ???
to merge in code or visually? I'd agree with @T-mo. Sometimes just a simple/ concise (textual) itinerary list without graphics would be perfect; other times the existing more detailed Route Planner itinerary is also perfect.

BTW my only two suggestions for the round trip generator were

  • change "Generate round trip" to "Suggest new round trip"
  • if more than one point is already defined, change the error message "Place a point on the map to define the start of your trip" to "To suggest a new round trip, please add at most one starting point"

ROUND TRIP:
Unless real utility can be found for this feature, integrating it with the options I wrote above (and all the complications of the case), it should be removed, useful and solid functionality better than things like this that do nothing but generate doubts in users.
@lor74cas I disagree on this aspect - although I doubt I'd use it much, I don't see that as a reason to remove it. In my limited desktop testing the results were interesting and within expectations.

The "generate" icon on the LHS (see screen cap) links to/ selects, the Locus navigation profile, so I assume this provides some degree of configuration to meet the desire of the user?
