[Function] Live Tracking Test Service

Postby gynta » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:02 pm

If you want to test the function "Live tracking" in Locus?

1. Send me a PM* with a nickname and you will receive a userID in my answer.
(If you are not allowed to send PM, tell me your interest here in this thread and i will contact you)

2. Setup Locus Pro: http://locus.oldboys.at/help.htm

3. Start Live tracking to send some points to the server.
- don't forget to allow mobile data transfer on your phone.
- be sure you have an GPS SATfix
- Locus does not send data, if the GPS position is not changed.

4. Login on http://locus.oldboys.at with your nick and userID and see your position/track...

Hi Al,
welcome in this forum.
No, the problem is that users with very few posts are expected to participate more before they are allowed to PM

Update

Postby gynta » Wed Jun 27, 2012 11:36 pm

What can you see/do on the c-me webpage?

- After login you will see your last known position in the center of the map:

- Enter your buddy's nickname, choose a color and a zoomlevel.
(your friend must be a registred user too and must already have sent his position)

- See your last position OR your 100 last stored trackpoints.

- If your buddy has allowed - you also can see his last 100 trackpoints too.

- Save the settings for your next visit.

- The c-me web page refreshes automatically every 90 seconds.

- Export your own track as kml

- Clear all stored trackspoints

- Create a guestlogin for your family or friends

- experimentally: If your buddy wants to see your current position inside his Locus App - send him a small POI to import

Restrictions
- Only 100 stored trackpoints was displayed.

Is there the way to make a public link for this service to share my location with anybody?

Yes, but I'am saying about any user, registered or not. Is the way to see my location for anybody if I publish a link in my blog for example? Now one have to log in with my credentials anyway. :(

A "light version" is a good idea.
A viewing page without any functions.
And if you have allowed in your settings other people can you see in...
..ah russia :)

i will create this in the next update...

edit
Implemented...

Yes that would be helpful, especially when your friend, family or whoever uses a smartphone!
