"push" is always needed ;). Anyway plans ... currently no plans. I'm well aware that this feature needs some improvements, so they will come, but interest from users community is average, so I see no hurry for now

Is there a way to filter/search for all "offline POI" + ideas + popular? I see 226 results for "offline POI" - 10 pages - too difficult to view but 226 topics suggests lots of interest.

Try to use tags: http://help.locusmap.eu/search/tag%3ALocus%20Maps%20POIs

Andrew asked.
Your ("userespose") search results are not the best. Compare and you will see.
...but i think you know it.  ;)

Will it be possible to search within the poi db for waymarks (in hiking trails), i.e. "red point on white" as tagged in OAM?

Hello Christian,
this database is "independent" on base map to which is attached. It depend only whether we add certain items to database or not. Actually I can't say if this will be possible or not, we will see once this database came out of Beta stage within next months.
