Wishlist / Re: Star rating for tracks

Hi guys,
i would like to suggest to introduce a kind of star rating for stored tracks.
Using over 400 tracks make it difficult to remember good / medium / less good tracks.
Three light yellow stars _behind_ the name of the track would be useful. And the option to set rating in track manager.
Prio: 99

Thanks,
Christian

I wanted to ressurect this thread, to bring a couple of things to light:

1- it's a really good idea to save each track in a folder like "TODAY" or "Locus Tracks" or somewhere, and always save them in the same place, for today. That way each track is easy to find, if you want to "sort by distance" in that folder.

2- once the track is saved, and you've decided to edit the track (trim un needed stuff) make a new tracklist (if you don't have one already) that pertains to the activity. I use naming schemes like "hiking with the kids" and then name the particular track "hiking to the falls on orr road" or similar.

the waypoint tracks/routes handling database in locus is FANTASTIC compared to ancient garmins, if you apply a little bit of customization when saving files. exploiting locus abilities while saving those files means you can have matching WAYPOINT and route/ track directories (and groups!) so that finding waypoints and tracks for a journey is very easy.

naming schemes aren't a star system, i know, but it is very easy to make each track memoriable this way.

try it :)

I would like to test this if you need help

Yesterday I attempted to switch between 3-4 offline map sources which have worked well in the past. The phone slowed down considerably, and I got the same error "Map blah database problem!" in red, but I couldn't record the exact error problem.

It did this 3-4 times, but after selecting that map again, it corrected , after I rebooted the phone. Thankfully, my track recording wasn't effected by this as I was stationary at the time.

Is there a log I can send you about the problem, or a known way to fix the error in the future ?

thanks :D

Fine.

I think close to your needs is this idea: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/summary_of_total_km_avg_speed_altitude_time_and_so_on . It has my support and I would like to implement something like this, so feel free to vote there.

ahh, i see, thank you ! :D

OK I understand wanting to keep the focus on hiking/biking. the main reason I've wanted a countdown or count up odometer is fuel range of two stroke bikes. I could see this also being used in electric bicycling, etc

currently I just use the tracking function and display mph/total distance/battery percentage, but a odometer would be nice.

the kids like to see their tracks from walking to/from school everyday too.

anyway, I understand, keep up the good work.

Wishlist / Fuel / Milage Gauge ?
September 09, 2015, 13:15:28
I use locus for a lot of off road enduro. It would be great if it were possible to have a fuel gauge, that could be reset each time I filled up again.  What I do now is record from the start, and start a new track with each fillup, and use a custom dashboard to show
Speed
Track Distance (full)
Altitude
GPS coordinates (on one line)

but it would be really nice to have a fuel gauge that showed miles till reserve, or miles covered.

Any interest ? thanks !

I am a long term contributor to OSM, using a Garmin eTrex Legend until four weeks ago, when I discovered Locus Map.  I installed Locus Map Pro and have been impressed beyond words by what I have experienced in this short time.  It has breathed new life into my enthusiasm for OSM.  More than that, though, is the community: I believe a product is enhanced immensely if it has a good following, and forums speak volumes for good or bad.  I feel it should be expressed that your dedication to Locus Map is obvious.  I wish to thank you and gynta for the help you have provided to me over this period; it is rare to find this level of assistance and commitment.  I am so appreciative, I installed Locus Map Pro on my wife's 'phone yesterday.  Following the latest release, it seems an appropriate occasion to thank you both and wish you, menion, a well-deserved holiday!
Please place this post where you think it appropriate.

May 08, 2015, 21:34:57
i thought in the past that locus would start with the beginning of a route? today  i loaded a rope, and tried to navigate to the beginning, but locus is pointing me to almost the end every time?

ios sales q1 2015 :   74.5 million
android sales q1 2015 : similar
windows phone/tablet sales: cricket cricket      cricket cricket

i know Microsoft is marketing itself with "billions of users will but your ported applications!" but in reality, there aren't many handsets being sold that run Microsofts operating system.

He already answered!
Thanks for your quick response!
Said that was was missing - let's see....

edit
Here are Klaus' 'secrets'.
Unfortunately it doesn't work so far! Maybe you could test it too...
Seems like locus isn't uploading...
i love gpsies for storing/sharing tracks, and planning routes, it's good stuff. if/when live tracking works with locus i think that would be a great website to collaborate with for the future.

I'm also trying to use Locus via the Chrome thing. I'm stuck at the initial setup "locus needs to download extra data, 5Mb". What do I need to put in the ~/Documents/ARC/Locus    directory for it to work  ?

Thanks !
