The previous system had a few problems:

- you never knew what you get. The result was always a surprise and you had no simple option to post-modify it
- selection of routing profiles and their parameters was the old way (row with profiles) and does not fit to current new system, which is a lot more flexible
- adding via-points was way too complicated

I still think, that 10 sec timer should solve what you need here. I'll try to describe the steps ...

Start - identical
- click on the point on the map
- choose "Navigate to" from the menu

Old system
- old "Navigate to" screen opens
- click on the "Navigate" button
- app returned to the main screen and once GPS had a valid position, track was computed and nav. started

New system
- the "Route planner" screen opens
- once GPS has a valid position, track is computed
- the 10-second (may be user-defined) timer starts now. If you touch anything (even a map), it will be canceled!!
- you press the "Navigate" button or the timer ends, the app returns to the main screen and nav. starts

So the new system with the timer is even one click less, or in the worst case, the same. The huge advantage is, that is solve all problems I've mentioned at the start.

missing change GPS start location > all was already suggested, so just one more note. "Navigate" should be still available in the Route planner main menu.

I'm thinking if your use-case should be used by more users, but starting navigation NOT from my current location does not make too much sense to me, sorry. Why you should do it? Prepare the route before you ride (with "Plan to") or once you are out to start navigation immediately (with "Navigate to").

@lor74cas
while testing ... hmm, give it a while please, if this option will be really useful. I still think, it isn't. Thanks

Hello col,
you should still be able to access the app's private directory when connected to the PC.

If you need direct access to the device, probably the easiest solution with the latest Locus Map version is moving the whole app directory into the "Android/media" directory, which is more easily accessible by various 3rd party tools directly on the device.

This can be done in the app settings > Backup & filesystem > File system manager > Set the main directory

There seem to be minor crashes, so expect a new bug-fix version today.

@freischneider
problem with lost shaping/navigation points > thanks, got it

@Andrew Heard
I still can't entirely agree with the "Pick on the map" option in the selection dialog. Mainly because it will open another dialog with the map above the map planner. Does not make much sense to me, sorry.

Cross during init > well, it should not be a problem to tap on it. Usually, you should also see a blue loading screen. Not a big problem I believe, but yes, should be somehow blocked together with the hardware back press (just to be safe not to interrupt some main tasks during the start).

Sharing of user points > yes, it is planned. We now need a big switch to "Data manager V2". ETA? September 2024.

@Tapio
preview image size > improved gallery for viewing images is on the way (next month). Making the first image some kind of "Top image" and make it larger. Hmm, interesting idea to consider ...

@jonny.blue
401 error > hmm, it is a 401 HTTP error so it looks like a temporary glitch on the Grounspeak side.

Estimated time > this is complicated. This method was created in times when BRouter time estimates were unreliable. So this is completely independent of the router and considers only a distance and elevation of the route to compute estimates. It also inserts breaks to snack, launch etc. For a long time, I've been thinking about two options:
- completely remove this method, because LoRouter & BRouter times are good enough
- keep it and improve it to support full customization. I know this will probably be more wanted here on the forum, but it is a lot of work and as I wrote, time estimates are now much better than years before.

@Andrew Heard
Expand/collapse > inspired by the web planner + improvements by @marek to display first/last/+all via-points.

Top panel time > click to display "Estimated times" > heh, check my answer to @Agus ... I'm still not sure about it. To avoid confusion, this needs some improvement.

+ I've added "show chart" button, same as in track detail, to the UI.

General notes
There are more modifications, mainly to keep the bottom panel hidden when re-routing or restoring the previous plan. "Inverse route" added into menu + bunch of other various improvements. Thanks a lot for your opinions!

Beta version MapGooglePlay_4.21.1.5 RC_1125_beta published!

@Agus
thanks for pointing to the missing times when using BRouter. The issue was that BRouter used the old system over GPX files. I've changed it to use an identical system to the internal LoRouter. Even way types & surfaces are visible now  ;)

@Graf Geo
Problematic red warning circles > firstly, thanks for sharing the track, it helped. I've made some changes to prevent this issue. Anyway, I'm curious if you did anything special when you planned this track. Because it has on almost every segment (between two shaping points) duplicate points at the start and at the end, that caused this issue. Can't imagine how this happened. You wrote you've used an online Route planner right?

Missing error messages > thanks a lot. It was not an intent. Fixed.

Error 10103 > this is weird because it means a problem with the internet connection. This should not happen here. I've not seen this before, so hard to help here. Are you sure you used offline! LoRouter? Even in the case of online, this does not make sense...

@freischneider
sorry, but your description is too complicated for me. Should be possible to record a short video with this issue? And agree, some generated instructions between manual segments, hmm should be doable.

New version MapGooglePlay_4.21.1.4_1125_beta published!

@balloni55
hmm 8 minutes. Probably a high number of files in the geocaching directory? I'll look at the option to display at least some progress... (or better speed it up).

Hi guys, this is something that may be improved, but it is not so easy. Over time, I've created two separate packs of cursors. One for ordinary map screen and one for navigation. It may make sense to unite them, but because of existing packs and backward compatibility, it is not so easy. Just info ...

Translation

Hi guys,
thanks for the valuable feedback!

Global problems reported here regard planner improvements
- click on items: now it will open a point detail. It center map + is easy to change it (via, shaping, coordinates, ...)

- incorrectly working "Navigate to"

- easy recalculating of sections > similar to the web, is not implemented yet. The main reason is that the clickable area is on the device too small, so it will be necessary to make the space between points bigger. I'm not sure about it for now.

- graphical issues with system status and navigation bars should be improved

- and many other improvements. Beta version today a little later...

I'll not comment on everything, cause you will see it in tomorrow's version.

Arrow at chart panel > hmm, yes, it should be consistent. Adding to todo, thanks.

Problem with hidding of the panel > thanks for the video. Hope, that the updated version will solve this (we updated the Google library that takes care of it).

Archived topic > there is some automation, that closes topics after 12 months of in-activity. This helps to make it clear and forces users not to re-use older topics when asking something. I've un-archived the mentioned topic. Sad news, I know ...

@michaelbechtold
sync problem > and does it change anything? You may check Sync screen > toolbar > "Last update" to see if something changed.

@balloni55
maybe it just took very long? Give it a few minutes, please. Maybe some procentual progress should be useful here right? Hmm ..

@T-mo
search suggestion, thanks, forwarded to @marek

Hi guys,
@Tapio & @Viajero Perdido , sorry, I've not yet looked on the database and issue in "GC My lists". Will try to do it next week.

Meanwhile: the new MapGooglePlay_4.21.1.3 Route Planner_1125_beta Beta version was published. Among some other minor fixes, there is a completely new system of handling shaping/via points in the route planner that should also fully replace the old "Navigate to" screen. So who wants to try, feedback is welcome! Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Hello, Locus Map do nothing with file permissions, so if there is a problem, not on the app side.

I do not understand perfectly what is the problem, anyway, I have experienced that when copying files manually into the Locus Map directory over PC, the app crashes because it can`t write into database files. So probably something similar to your problem?

With the recent Beta version, app may move it`s own main directory into Android/media directory, so maybe this may help on the permissions problem. "Android/media" is still a small mystery to me, anyway seems to solve few problems ...

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.21.+ ( 1/2024 )
February 16, 2024, 21:51:29
Hi guys,

weekend, again? Damn :)
At least a bug-fix Beta version on the Drive.

@Diddi
update of single cache in new Beta! An update of a bunch of caches at once will have to wait a little. Remind me this once the new "Data manager" will be published (this year).

@slarti76
how do you share the location? There are more options and not all may work ...

@loudini
icons, thanks. I hope it is fixed now (because I can't simulate it).

Finally, after a longer time, the new Beta version. Among support and maintenance, I've been mainly focused, already for almost 2 months, on the new Data manager, so there are not many updates, just a few nice tweaks (mainly for geocaching).

@Andrew Heard
Icon size > it is a mystery for me Andrew, sorry. There is no reason for this behavior and I'm unable to simulate it for now.

@balloni55
- images in GC logs > they were missing, fixed, thanks (it needs to redownload caches, not just update)
- "GC" letters prefilled > done, but it is not perfect for now. Cursors remain at the start for now. Sorry, unsolvable issue for now because of technical limits
- "Filter name" > When you edit the filter, at the start is the "Name" field > it is the name of the filter itself!!. So it is not a history, but the list of saved filters.
- "Bearing below compass arrow" > ah thanks, this setting was related to the old compass arrow, which is now used only in the Locus Classic. I'll remove it. It does not work for almost three years and you are the first who complains.
