If you go back to 3.55 (Sept. 2021), you are in control again - full access to non-private folders anywhere, INT and EXT. Not forever, but until Menion is in control of the situation - BEYOND private folders ...

If you want to stick with 3.56, see below:
- if you have enough space on INT SD, move the mapsVector back to INT SD (private folder), so e.g. x-plore can fully manage insta
- if you are happy to work via PC, you can forget sthe step above
- whereever the mapsVector is, empty the themes folder
- now test an OAM map with the internal default theme - it should display the map, however differently from Elevate look and feel
- if Locus crashes here, try another map, if that crashes, too, open a case in the help desk
- if Locus is still alive, install Elevate via OAM web page and check that there is the Elevate.zip in your mapsVector
- now switch the theme to Elevate or Elements

Exactly, and this is why Menion built in support for ZIP themes :-)
From ZIP themes Locus builds an expanded structure on the fast int storage.
Expanded themes on ext SD with Google A11 SAF is a pretty bad idea.

Do you have mapsVector on ext SD? Then this is a known issue which cannot be overcome, EXCEPT you start to use ZIP themes.

LM4 ist erst einmal aus dem Horror raus, weil es das nötige Privileg von Google bekommen hat.
LM Pro ist noch eine Geisel von Google und in den Versionen ab Nov. hoffnungslos in einigen Fällen, wie auch diesem.
In solchen Fällen hilft m.E. nur ein Zurück auf die LMP 3.55 (den Link habe ich mittlerweile zig-fach kommuniziert) und warten bis Menion einen Ausweg für LMP gefunden hat.
Das spart den Benutzern, dem Locus-Team, und uns Supportern viel Schmerz.

On extSD it can not write files, though (but folders only).

@Octopus: do you remember if the "missing" objects resided on an external SD card, pot. in a top level folder? Then they are easily visible for a file manager, but invisible for LMP.

Simply check and tell about what Wolfgang and I suspected.
But don't collide with Xmas fun - and obligations :-)

Bingo, thank you, Menion. In ZIP themes the lnk file simply has to consist of the name of the legend PDF file (assuming it is at the same top level as the XMLs).

My best guess: LMP 2021-09 plus Backup einspielen könnte die einfachste Lösung sein.
Bis dann einmal klar wird, wie das mit LMP ausgeht bzgl. A11+

OK, also volle Installation in privatem int SD folder.
Mit der allerneuesten Version 3.56.4 vom Playstore für LM Pro kann man sich zwar nicht frei bewegen bei der Auswahl. Aber in Kombination mit einem Backup könnte es funktionieren, zumindest teilweise. Ich habe gestern LMP auf meinem S10 hochgezogen. Die Basis-Installation auf int SD/Locus ist voll nutzbar, aber die externen Folder sind nicht sichtbar.
Das Backup hat niemals die Karten drin. Aber es gibt zwei Varianten: nur die Konfiguration, oder auch die POI- und Track-Datenbanken und solche Sachen.
Also kommt es jetzt darauf an, was genau "verschwunden" ist, und wo es sich "versteckt" - vor Locus, nicht vor Solid Explorer. Und wie groß jene Datenmenge ist. Und wieviel Platz Du wo noch hast.
Nach diesen Infos kann entschieden werden, ob die Sept.-Version nötig ist oder hier per Solid Explorer "repariert" werden kann ...

@Menion: I saw there are relative paths in the lnk files. But pls.: what exactly does relative mean in a ZIP file that is in _themes folder of Locus base?

Legends work for me when in sub folder of _themes, but not when in ZIP file.
Because I do not know what path to put into the lnk file in case of ZIP theme. Any hint?

V4 maps could be handled differently from V3 maps, like both differ from raster maps ...
And V3 is a zombie anyway - I suppose this is the next big thing for Locus to get sorted in 2022.

And once you have SAF mechanics in place, you can use /Android/media/maps and alike, which would  not be killed by de-install.
I think this is the mid/long term secure path, as the special permission is only temp ... but VERY useful for the LM4 community for now.

@slarti76: I have been testing with c:geo with even its base folder on ext SD /Android/media/cgeo, with a lot of reads and writes.

I agree with your assessment that Google screwed up and did not repair for proper access to the private folders for file managers with the full privilege.

E.g. x-plore can create folders anywhere in any private structure. But cannot read or write a single file into the folders it created itself.
