Having two forums sounds complicated. What do you prefer.... have postings here or in satisfaction?

Great. I will test it.
Does the periodically check mean that there is no calculation of distance to the parking place or other thread / processor time?
Thanx,
Christian

Troubles & Questions / parking: how does it works?
October 29, 2013, 18:02:01
Hi @all,
this is another question only.

i use Locus on my Galaxy Note and always try to avoid too much consumption of power. For long day tours i often leave the additional power pack at home, but ist's risky.
Using the funktion "parking" does start a process ? Do this need any additional ressources?

Thanx for an answer,
Christian

Hi menion,
this is a question only...

I activated in settings ->global -> orientation lock -> map screen and it works.
But this set avoids screen rotation in Android after shut down Locus. Is this correct?
I tried this with orientation lock -> all screens and this let Android rotate the screen....

No idea.

Thanx for an answer,
Christian

*who looked a long time for the reason why Android don't rotate the screen suddenly

Menion, this not funny nor a solution :)

Can you please keep this problem in mind and think sometimes for a solution? (tooltip or a differnent layout or...)
Thanx for this.

ok, thanks so ...

1) your track is some recorded track, so it contains quite a lot of points. In this case isn't best using "notification on next point".
2) there is currently no way how to enable exact voice instructions on this track, because locus do not support OFFLINE routing.
3) anyway you may try to use new feature available in testing version "Navigation generator". Here is discussion about this topic http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=3372.0
4) if you want to use public version, you may try to enable "notification on next point" and enable TTS support. This feature will be removed in time, "Navigation generator" will be published in public version anyway it's usable now

->1) lot of WP are usual for all of my (downloaded) tracks. turning off  "notification on next point" means no notification at all .-)

->2) beeping instead of TTS would be enough (btw: different sounds for "right" or "left" would be great in one of the upcoming versions)

->3) nice that you working on this and other related problems. I will be a faithful user but not a beta tester. Sorry - there is no time left.

->4) i will try this setting again and read the other thread carefully

Thanx for your effort,
Christian

I use a personal syntax for naming my tracks / files.
Separated by underscores there are short forms of region, start, finish, distance, altitude and in some cases the number of the track in the gps portal where it was downloaded.
Files, names and descriptions are synchronous on my computer and two android devices.
On my PC i do the planning of the tours with OSM or GE or similar. So no fields for description are available, only flat files.

If i am in the mountain and have to change the plan for the day i want to have a list with possible tracks "on sight". No searching in each track for description or something like that...

On my galaxy note i have 33 characters in track list - see screenshot -, on my Htc leo only 23. The rest is cutted. So its not possible to shorten my track names to 23....

In some file managers there are more place for long names in portrait mode - instead of showing the left window with the folders  additionaly

A solution for displaying the whole name again would be nice :)

Thanx,
Christian

I innervate this thread because Joachim showed me the setting i have to activate for notification (in german thread, but no further assistance).

- Global
: Control on /off screen is on (all 4 items)

-Guiding
: Notification enabled
: all other settings for notifications are default

-on Map: guiding for the track is on

The Problem is:
the device is beeping all the time because of notification of the waypoints, the screen is activated all the time and consumes a lot of power
If i switch off  notification for waypoints no sound is played but no notification occurs :-(
For turns or junctions there is no notification at all!
I tried different seetings on different tours but without success.

This is very frustrating and i hope that someone can help me.
I would like to use this feature because it seems very useful for mountainbike tours (no hand free) and saving power and focus on biking...

Is there anybody out there?
Thanx,
Christian

Thats sad :(
Can you provide a tooltip or an option for a line break? I need the information in the title...

"Shift map center" is right.
But i use "map screen" / "portrait mode" for orientation. Is it this what the magnifier blocks?

edit1
i figured out what "map rotate" is. When deactivated the magnifier works well.
Thanx menion for your mindfulness.
Is there a direct line to you directly from the app? ;)

edit2
May be it can be useful to make the item magnifier grey when "rotate map" is activated.
And a small information in the manual would be nice :)

edit3
Here i am again... :(
Using long track names with a lot of information in it and now i miss the scrolling name of the track in the track details. Is it gone?

Thanx,
Christian

I tried the new version and it works in this version. But not on my installed Pro.
Any further hints?
