thanks for your explanation. I can understand your point of view and I totally agree with you, that a lot of the features discussed on this forum are only interesting to a very small percentage of Locus users. But I would also guess that although some locus features are only interesting to some users, it´s often those users who are willing to pay for the Pro Version and for those extra features in the Locus store.
I do respect you decision, but is it really that much effort to offer the POI database seperately in the Locus Store? I am guessing that you have to create the POI database separately anyway, before merging it with the map file.
Normal users could still just download the All-in-One map package. But for me (and surely a lot of others who use openandromaps or other maps) it means that I need to download several GB of data that I don´t need (using up bandwith and also storage space on my phone). Let´s say I want to have POI data for Germany, France, Spain and England - that would be almost 5GB of Map data that I don´t need.
As stated before - I am more than willing to pay or this data. Even the same as for the whole map package - I just don´t need the maps. 

Just like Michaelbechtold I would really appreciate the possibility to just download the address database without the map. I am more than willing to pay for this, but I don´t see why I should download a few GB of map data to when all I want is the POI/address database.
Let´s say I am abroad and limited to a low bandwith allowance or a super slow Wifi and want to download the address database, it would be a real hassle to have to download the whole map as well.
If you don´t want to separate the database purchase from the map purchase - maybe you could make the database downloadable separately within in Locus Store once one has purchased the map?

I was just wondering, if I use a vector map for the whole of Germany (openandromaps), but I can only get the database for south and north - how could I use both databases at the same time with just one map of Germany? I obivously can´t rename both database files to match the map name.

first of all - thanks for finally implementing an offline address search!
I do have a few questions about the new version though:
1) I purchased the map of Germany a while ago (before it was split). Am I correct in asuming that I won´t be able to use the offline address search without purchasing a new map?
2) Is it possible to use the offline address search without downloading a Locus Map? I don´t mind paying for the address database, but I usually use different maps (mainly openandromaps).
3) The changelog states this change: option to colorize map by altitude - where do I find this feature?

i thought i knew all settings in locus,  but how did u get the compass onto the map screen?

How about using a battery pack to prolong the battery life of your device? They are available in all shapes and sizes.
If you want to save battery whilst recording a track I am not sure how efficient it would be to just record one point every few minutes. From my understanding the GPS of your device would have to be switched off between recording your trackpoints in order to save battery. When you want to record your next point the GPS of your device has to be switched on again and has to get a fix on the satellites again, before being able to record your next point. Being in an airliner you would have covered quite a distance in the meantime, which would increase the time to get the next GPS fix.
If, on the other hand, your device´s GPS stays on all the time and only records a point every few minutes, I don´t see how this would reduce the battery drain..?

Because if he wants to sell his Pro licences he should really tell people where they can purchase them.

I would have never, ever looked in the Locus store for an add on pro key. Maybe it should be made available as an in app purchase too? Or at least there should be a note in the App where you can purchase the pro version.

I have just installed the latest Update of Fieldnotes (from yesterday) and noted that there were a lot of changes listed with a [PRO] tag. Does that refer to having the Locus pro version or is there a fieldnotes PRO version too? I checked in the play store and within the fieldnotes addon, but couldn´t find a Pro version anywhere.
I am interested in some of the pro features, but couldn´t find them anywhere in the app.
I do, of course, have Locus pro installed.

I don´t want to control the track recording (pause, stop etc.), I just want to be able to see the stats (speed, distance etc.). So basically I just need to be able to open the track record panel. Is that even possible through the dashboard?
I´ll go for the hide time option, sounds like a good solution :-)

I have got the track record button in my side panel and the side panel is permanently visible. I changed it to auto-hide and the Rec button on the left hand side pops up.
Any chance to have it show up even with the side panel on?
My screen is big enough, so I like to have my side panel available, but on the bike the track record button in the side panel is a bit too small and being between other icons, which makes it easy to accidentally click on one of the buttons next to it.
Otherwise I´ll just have to get used to a hidden side panel.

Oder einfach in eine wasserdichte Plastiktüte - fertig ;-)

I managed to find out what the problem was with the missing Waypoint icons. It all works fine unless I use one of my offline SQL maps, which only has low zoom levels (max level is 12). I use that map as an overview, as i still find most vector maps impractical on low zoom levels (town names don´t show up correctly etc.)
So when i zoom into that maps above level 12 locus does not show the waypoints.
Now that I know what´s causing it, it´s not a problem anymore, as I can just switch maps.

I have just reset my Locus preferences and the button is back. So it´s definitely a setting somewhere, I just don´t know where :-(
I´ll have to restore my settings from my backup though, as I have made way too many changes over the years to start from scratch again.

I just renamed my Locus folder as you suggested and started locus, but the problem remains.
That would have ruled out a configuration made in the config file, as that lies in the locus folder, right?
My side panel and other settings were still correct though, even with the new Locus folder. Where are those settings stored?

thanks a lot for your great video. I have all the same settings as you do in the video, start a recording (even waited for a sat. fix) and close the track record panel, but the button at the bottom left just does not show up. And I know that at some time in the past it did, as I have seen the button before.
My only way to get the track record panel to open again is by using the button in my side panel.
Is it possible that I switched that button off somewhere else? Maybe in the config file?

I have also tried: restarting locus, restarting my phone and changing the track record mode from side panel to bottom panel and back. Also switched off the theme changer icon, so see if that was interefering.
