Also, Quick Map Switch "Last Used" online map and Map Manager "Last Map" don't  update last used maps now. Possibly connected with maps in  custom providers file?

@john_percy
right, in case you will want to use your theme optimized for V3 maps, in new V4 maps system, then you may see a difference in how soon certain items appear. To be true, I'm not 100% sure how this affect real usage so best to give it a try and you will see yourself.
Here is an add-on alpha version of my "Mapsforge Voluntary" theme. Download, extract, and add to an existing Voluntary theme installation to get a "Mapsforge Voluntary alpha" theme for MFv4 maps in Locus Alpha. Zoom-mins and scaling have been tweaked to make its appearance closer to the theme on LoMaps/MFv3 but how well it does this depends on the resolution of your device.
Please let me know if I am on the right lines with this.

When I go to the store I get a red toast "Unknown problem 43" and the Store opens normally. If I then try to download a map I get the same red toast and the download aborts.

@menion. Understood now. However I think that means that the minimum zoom at which items appear in my themes will need changing for v4 maps. If you are looking at a remote area with few items to display it makes no difference. In a densely populated area it makes a lot of difference.

I don't fully agree with Tobias and really don't understand the zooming idea.
For example, when I change from LoMap (or OAM V3) ZL 20 @ 75% to OAM Mapsforge V4 the zoom changes to ZL 18 @ 100% with the map showing the same area. That obviously seriously affects what items are displayed at what map size. Will I need to change all the zoom-min settings in the V4 theme or what?

The reason maps are showing twice is that locus is recognising folders by two aliases. See screenshot. The location sdcard is the same as storage/emulated/0 in my system.

It may be resolution-related. For me, items including contour lines only appear in MF V4 maps at (apparently) higher zoom levels than expected. I think that this is supposed to be to do with making the display resolution-independent but I don't understand it or like it.
Also, I get each map appearing twice in Smart Choice Maps.

I have found Google is variable in how quickly they respond. They seem to take note of Open Street Map changes, so I'd agree with @menion that it would be a good idea to make an edit to OSM.

However, the zero distance bug has gone now for me.

Following a map link from Google Trips, I am offered Open in [Google] Maps, Open in Chrome, Open in Locus [Free] but not Open in Locus [Pro]. I have the latest version of both, so the inconsistency is strange.
Furthermore, it doesn't open in Locus Free but gives a red toast complaining of unsupported file format.
Also, as you will see, the message on the toast is very hard to read!

@menion @Andrew Heard
It would appear that this is connected with certain historic data.
- Some tracks show zero distance away when sorted by "nearness" but some do not.
- For some of these "zero distance" tracks, clicking on the mini-map to move to the track's location and display it means that the distances are correct on reopening the tracks screen. However closing the app and reopening it resets distances to zero, as does re-sorting the tracks or moving to current location.
- For others of the "zero distance" tracks, the above has no effect.
I'll email my backup.

quote from @Menion - "interesting, I can't simulate it with any folder. Does this happen to your will just a single folder with tracks or will all you checked?"
... displayed distance is 0m when sorting by  Nearest, but non-zero & correct when sorting by distance to Starting Point.
Exactly as Andrew describes for me too

Have you tried reinstalling the theme?

You could download a set of POIs from, for example, PocketGPSWorld (free registration needed) and import into Locus. The downside of this is that there are just so many of this sort of POI that it would both slow down the display and clutter it. I think that's why Parking POIs are no longer in the Locus database.
Somewhere on this forum there is a reference to exporting the POIs from the OSM data directly but I can't find it at the moment.

Same for me on Android 8.0.0.
Also Menu > Exit gives green toast asking me to "Press 'back' again to exit".
