Messages - Die Batzen

This is unfortunately caused by the G4L update to version 3.0.8.
It's also discussed here.

For a possible solution you may find post #7 interesting.
#4
The very same happens to me, too.
It's caused by the latest GC4L update to version 3.0.8.

Until (or if) Arcao provides a fix, the solution is to go back to the previous GC4L version 3.0.7:

@GusGF: this should be the thread you were referring to:

Hallo Dirk,

das, was Wolfgang sagt.

Thomas

Thanks a lot for the hint, never would have thought of Android settings.

All is working as expected now.

Geocaching4Locus - Import Bookmark List

  • in LM4 (Silver) run Import Bookmark List from Geocaching4Locus
  • select either a whole bookmark list or selected Geocaches from a list and download
  • surprisingly LM Pro (Classic) gets started in parallel and you have to continue your import in LM Pro (instead of LM 4)
  • if your import is finished you have to close LM Pro and continue in LM 4
I would have expected to stay in LM 4 instead of being redirected to LM Pro.

As an example, you can try https://coord.info/BM85PMJ (simply make a copy of the list).

I'm unsure if this is an issue from Geocaching4Locus or LM. Nevertheless, I mention it here.

This one is still an issue in 3.40.2.
It's especially hard if you do a multi cache and have to update coordinates or do a waypoint projection by editing a waypoint rather than creating a new one.

If you change the coordinates of a Geocache waypoint and return to the waypoints list of the Geocache afterwards, then the coordinates are still the old ones.
In order to update the coordinates, you first have to leave that Geocache and enter again.
Steps to reproduce:

  • go to the waypoints tab in a Geocache
  • tab on a waypoint
  • click on the circle dot on the right side of the waypoint coordinates
  • now choose any possibility to change the coordinates and change them
  • return to the Geocache and observe that the coordinates didn't change
  • leave that Geocache and enter again, now the coordinates changed

Same here - just updated and LM crashes immediately when initializing the V4 vector map. :(

@Thomas S
1. really interesting. Just get same bug report on the help desk and have no idea how this happens. There is only a single file per map in your maps folder? Are you using "External maps"?
2. Do not understand. Fact that application is visible in the list of recently used apps means nothing. This list only displays apps you used, not the apps that run. Also, on Android everything runs always, it says nothing. Important is if application do anything, if consume battery, CPU, internet etc. Do Locus Map anything when you close it? Hope not.

  • External Maps did the trick: in "Maps-Offline" view there was an "external" path set; after removing that path the issue is gone.
    Thanks for the tip.
  • I try to explain.
Press button down left and afterwards the cross top right in LM. LM just gets send to background and is still running (as LM notification in top panel says).
You can also see if you start track recording first, then try to close as described --> track recording is still running.
All other Apps (and all previous Locus versions) will be closed by this procedure.

Hi menion,

thanks a lot for the hard work and the new version!
Some feedback:

  • offline multi language maps entries are shown two times each: in Maps-Offline as well as in Quick Map Change:

  • LM doesn't want to close as intended: neither button down right + confirm

nor button down left and afterwards LM cross button top right

closes LM - it's still running (the two pictures on the right each show the status after the attempt to close).

As a workaround, button down right - confirm - button down left - cross top right closes LM.

Regards,
Thomas

Are there any news regarding the switch of Geocaching4Locus from the old to the new Groundspeak API?
Retiring date of the old API is getting closer and closer ...

The order of Geocaching waypoints changes when updating a Geocache by "Geocache Live".
To reproduce:

  • import e.g. multi-cache GC6XAQ8 via GPX import (GPX file downloaded directly from Cache listing)
  • observe that the order of waypoints matches exactly the order in the listing (ordered by waypoint code)

  • now update the cache by pressing "Share" button and "Update cache"

  • after the update the order of waypoints changed; it doesn't follow the order in the cache listing anymore

The changed order is especially problematic for multi-caches that often have different types of waypoints: stages, reference points, parking areas, trailheads, final location.
The waypoint order is set by the Cache owner in the cache listing and usually follows the order the  waypoints have to be visited in the field, i.e. the order matters.

By the way, one gets the same (changed) order of waypoints also when importing the cache via Live Map or bookmark list - seems to be related to "Geocache Live".

Maybe two possible solutions:

  • adding a sorting possibility to the waypoints tab: e.g. sort by Waypoint code or name or ...; then it's a user choice
  • let the waypoint order always follow the cache listing, no matter how it was imported or updated
