I'm doing a route I've imported off the internet (1500km) and I've cut the tail and head of the route (within Locus maps) as I only wanted to do the middle section. But the track info is wrong in that if I press and hold on any part of the route it's giving me the wrong distance from the start. I think its still got the old info from the unedited track. I'd not thought of this so is there any way I can correct this.

Upgraded to the all new Locus 4 in the last few weeks and used it today. I'd planned a route in the Locus Web app and imported it to Locus on my mobile. When I tried to use the planned route using 'Navigation' (not 'Guidance') it failed to alert me of turns, no voice, no screen on grrr! >:( ! In Settings..Controlling..Display..Screen on/off control and under 'Guidance/Navigation' I've got all 3 options ticked. I had to turn the screen on manually, and when I did, I could hear the voice commands.

In Samsung settings under device care/battery settings, I've checked in the lists for sleeping, deep sleeping & never sleeping apps and Locus appears in none! Why is this??

When I got home I checked the battery settings and to my dismay, it had been set to 'optimised' so I've now changed it to 'unrestricted'. Could this be the source of my problem with turn notifications NEVER turning the screen on. I must admit I find it odd that some didn't sneak through regardless ???

In app settings, there is an option called 'Change system settings'. Should this be enabled and if so why?

Locus is set as a device admin app which seems to allow it to lock the screen. I don't really want it locking my screen if it doesn't allow me to continue with fingerprint unlocking. Having to type the pin unlock code is a major PITA. How do I stop the pin request from being forced on me after I exit Locus maps or if I want to use other apps while Locus is running? I would prefer fingerprint unlock at all times!!

Troubles & Questions / Gesture control confusion
September 06, 2021, 22:41:16
Why in Locus when gesture control is engaged, a password lock screen pops up if you try to access other functionality on your phone. Makes no sense to me. I want to be able to control my phone easily using gesture control and get to other functionality outside of Locus without having to type in my password. It's maddening!!

Secondly, auto screen on/off functionality when approaching a turn or nav point seems to be tied in with gesture control and in my settings it doesn't look like you can have one without the other?? Am I wrong if so how do I have screen on nav without gesture control (esp if the above problem persists and there is no easy solution)

First of all I've read 'Guidance Along a Route' and it states:
QuoteYou are guided to the first point of the route, then to the second etc. It is useful e.g. for sailing, sea-kayaking, flying or crosscountry hiking when there are no roads for turn-by-turn navigation.
But then above and below this it has pictures of a town/city with roads and a route being followed??!   ::)

So what point is the author trying to make here because this is downright confusing?

I've recorded a route which I then want to cycle back on either immediately or at a later date. Either Nav or guidance will work but Nav along a route only offers reversely for offroad??? Whereas Guidance has a reversely option. So is Nav a route incapable of guiding if I want to go backwards on a route??

What should I use and why?

UK ordnance survey maps show open access land (you can wild camp on) and private land (cannot camp on). How do I know this from looking at Lomaps?

Troubles & Questions / Unable to follow track
May 16, 2020, 17:52:51
Feel like I'm slightly losing the will to live. I'm sure we've all been there, you head out on a walk and how you think navigation should work and how the designers have designed the app are diametrically opposed. You spend more time looking at the screen and getting stressed than enjoying the walk and letting go of that stress.

Problem 1:
The lockscreen comes up and insists, ignoring my finger print which BTW always works but not in this app, that I have to tap in my unlock code on this occasion. So now I have to try and find a place in the shade so I can more easily see the screen.

Problem 2:
I've planned a 16Km route following various walking paths on my phone say A to B, almost circular, left a small gap in which I'm positioned/standing. The arrows on the track are pointing A to B. I tap on the track (a blue line on my map) and a dialogue pops up and I chose navigation. On the next screen I chose the Navigation icon and I'm taken to the map telling me to head for my track endpoint  a 100 metres away as the crow flies completely ignoring the track I'd planned!!

So how does this make any sense. I've tapped on a route that's going anti-clockwise and chosen to navigate it but locus is competely ignoring the track. Even if I go into the main menu and try and navigate the track from there it ends up behaving as if the track doesn't exist.

Confused  ???

One other thing Locus help details What is the difference between a route and a track? But then when I create a route in route planner it appears under 'tracks' but Locus states a track provides a record of where you have been, and when. That's downright confusing

Troubles & Questions / Combining tracks
October 18, 2018, 21:48:46
I'm doing a cycle tour and I've managed to get gps tracks for the whole route, probably about 20 gpx files make up the whole route from A to B. My question is can I combine the whole route/track into a single gpx file.
Hoping this is possible I've got a couple of questions. How will the tracks be sequentially arranged as to my eye it's obvious but to how the software does it do I need to specify anything and do I need to worry about direction of travel?
I've stored all the tracks in a single folder in Locus.

Any help appreciated :)

I'm considering replacing my Garmin with a waterproof mobile phone loaded with locus maps for navigation on my bike. I find too many limiting factors with garmin devices and while Locus is complex it seems to me to be a far better solution.

So can anyone recommend a rugged phone (ideally with a handlebar mount, but that may be asking too much  ;D ) has to be waterproof and is Android of course.

Viajero Perdido has recommended the Blackview BV6000s in a previous post in the helpdesk forums but I'd be interested in hearing from others on here and there suggestions too.
