Quote from: Menion on March 08, 2023, 13:38:21We have of course some plans and things that need to be done, but still ... simple question (that may influence my personal preferences). What is the biggest pain/requirement you mostly have with the app, I should solve during the next cca 3-9 months? I have in mind a few main categories:

1) management of the track waypoints (not surprisingly my favorite ;)
2) improve dashboard (missing items, simplify edit, improve charts, ...)
I would add
3) rotating labels in vector maps (or, rather, make labels non-rotating in relation to the (rotating) map. That's the main area where Locus just looks so much worse than other concurrent map apps - and of course it's not just looks when actually navigating...
4) better overlay handling, e.g. with overlay presets. For example, I have overlays with hike routes, skiing routes, public transportation stops, all are best at different alpha values, changing between them is such a pain that I usually don't use the feature, even though it's quite good in principle.

Reported problems should be solved in the recent Locus Map 4.11.1.1 Beta version.

No one has commented on the change of Zoom button color in 4.10.0.8. I like it - consistent with other buttons & better contrast, but being such a big visual change I'm hoping there isn't a user backlash & reversion to original color scheme :D

@Andrew: Menion has extended the logging significantly. Long tap on the low left Hamburger menu, tap the logging option and switch on the first 3 of them.
You can see quite a bit yourself what is happening under the cover... And Menion will see even more ;-)

A few days later ... version 4.5.4/3.56.3 is just ready to download from Google Play.

Fixed some start performance issues, import/export of GPX, connection to Galaxy Watches, and many more. Sorry for quite a lot of versions, I just prefer a quick fix instead of keeping bugged version public. Like old days :).

@Menion: after rereading carefully I understood that the backup folder can be outside of the private Android/data realms.
I tried and it worked.
From your earlier explanations I do not understand why such would work. And why not for all the other needs.
Can you pls enlighten me?
TXs and cheers
Michael
I think with this function only writing is allowed but not reading.
So it is only usable for backup.

You are right, Tapio. But a lot of flexibility is lost, isn't it? It is no longer very pleasant.
If I have to decide between performance and still-being-able-to-use-all-my-maps, that's much more than "flexibility". For the first time since I'm active in Locus testing-and-giving-feedback, this could be a make-or-break-moment for me. My outdoor phone (XCover Pro) is neither the fastest nor has the most internal memory. I'm not gonna use my "good" phone for outdoor stuff, so I'm not gonna say it's a no-go, will have to see how it performs, but I'm really anxious...

Hmm ... these were a damn hard two months for me  ::)

Final version generated (almost identical to the latest Beta version) and published for 10% of users on Google Play (Locus Map 4 only). On Monday, where there won't be any serious problem, I'll publish it for the rest of the users.

Thanks for the help as usual! I Hope, you will excuse my pauses in answers, the file system took almost all my time.
