Other features / Re: WMS recommended maps
September 28, 2011, 14:12:42
i finally found 2 official WMS server of the swiss government!
you can get 250 tiles for free per session (just restart locus for a new session).

overview: //http://www.geo.admin.ch/internet/geoportal/en/home/services/geoservices/display_services.html
description (only german/french): //http://www.geo.admin.ch/internet/geoportal/de/home/services/geoservices/display_services/services_wms.html

WMS server:
BAFU (Federal Office for the Environment): http://ecogis.admin.ch/de/wms  37 layers
BGDI (Federal Spatial Data Infrastructure): http://wms.geo.admin.ch >150 layers

unfortunately the layers are not really that "useful" (still looking for a WMS with hiking trails), but some can be interesting.
check out data of BAFU server: //http://www.mappetizer.de/de/beispiele/wms_bafu_suisse/index.html

Troubles & Questions / remove default maps
September 21, 2011, 17:41:29
are the default maps hardcoded in locus or are they somewhere in a database/xml file?

i try to remove some maps to make the map selection easier for.... some not so technic-interested people

since Groundspeak officially introduced their "Public API Beta Launch"
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index. ... try4796448
//http://www.geocaching.com/live/

are there any news about API integration in Locus?
is it working?

i guess the "Beta" in the mentioned post indicates that you are not yet free to release a solution without the ok from groundspeak

unfortunately the new format is postponed at least until late September:

yes, the html file is created on your PC, you can use "SpoilerSync" for this.
the problem is getting the links to the .html file into the gpx file.
#10
i managed to make cache-images gallery:
i put a link to a local .html file into the "longdescription" part of the gpx:
<groundspeak:long_description html="True">&lt;a href="file:///external_sd/Locus/spoiler/GC1Z987.html"&gt;cache images&lt;/a&gt;

i tried using a local html file, but it won't work.

i change in gpx:
   <url>file:///sdcard/tst.htm</url>
but nothing happens when i click on "Web page"

When i insert an image:
    <url>file:///sdcard/tst.jpg</url>
it opens ok...

any ideas?

btw. i can open the html file in the browser

Implemented / geocaching.com API

groundspeak is on the way to enable 3rd party developers to connect directly to geocaaching.com (finally!)

http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/7 ... ?ref=title

menion, maybe it is possible for Locus to get beta access to this service?
or maybe ARCAO for your geocaching addon?

i really hope they open this up for everyone!

spoilers would be nice!

menion: spoilers are images that give hints/tips/clues where the cache is hidden.
when you can't find the cache you look at the spoiler-pictures.

unfortunately they are not easy to download (not in gpx), thats why "SpoilerSync" is used to load them from geocaching.com

but this is about to change!:

menion you could add a new tab in the cache-description dialog (Info, Listing, Logs, Spoiler)

Developers / Re: SQLite structure

i already made a tool to download maptiles for my old WindowsMobile phone...

now it's working for Locus:
downloading 2000 tiles and adding to Locus database: 42sec
just adding 2000 tiles from cache to database: 16sec

wooohoooooo  :D

nice! that's exactly what i want to do!
at least i guess so since i haven't bought pro yet  ;)

but i still continue work on my tool because downloads are going to be faster on desktop pc.
unless there is an option to change the speed limit (2 tiles at once) for custom servers?
but i guess you better not allow this or there will be banning from the map servers..
