Hi guys,
believe you have fine time and that a new version won't cause any serious troubles. Anyway I'm ready for some bugfixing!
But, I have one idea. Is here anyone, who use fullscreen mode and never had any troubles with it? Probably not. I'm, since Android 5.0, trying to make it work perfectly and it seems, it is not possible. Anyway fullscreen mode is most useful on main map screen, or generally screen with full screen map (also like Route planner). On these screens usually problem isn't. So, what about full screen mode, that will work on these screens as now and on all other screens, bottom software buttons will be visible? Can you imagine it? Let me know. For me, it looks like ideal solution.

I use full-screen mode on Android 4.2, 4.3 and 5.0 and no problems. Satisfaction. I have to praise the new version and the stationary heart rate record. Everything works great. Good work.
@menion I don't currently have problems with 4.2 & 5.1 devices but your full screen proposal sounds very logical. I only use full screen with my riding/ driving/ walking presets. At other times full screen actually "gets in the way" because I can't use the bottom Back button.
@menion: I use fullscreen view since 4" screen on ICS and honestly never had a problem with it. If you plan to add bottom buttons permanently visible, please make it per user preference.

The problem with full screen view that Menion refers to is that the soft buttons appear and hide the Locus buttons in some circumstances.

- the blue infolabel isn´t needed if path is set
- why is an additional subfolder "backup" necessary? and if, write "necessary subfolder backup will be created automatically" so use know where the backup is stored.
- a backup is uploaded to cloud not a map (Karte)
- where can i switch off notification for successfull upload, similar to normal backup only unsuccessfull backup upload should be notified
Fullscreen problem
Thanks for a feedback guys. I'm aware that on some devices ( from responses maybe more then 50 % ), there is no issue with fullscreen mode.
Maybe it is just not so visible. Try to compare behavior of some dialogs like Data > "+" button > Folder. Is this "dialog" move up when keyboard appear? On my SGS7 (no bottom software buttons panel! ), dialog does not move up! and keyboard partially hide "add/cancel buttons". Does not happen in case of disabled fullscreen mode!
And on devices like Huawei, it is worst and many times bottom panel really cover bottom Locus control buttons, like visible on John screenshot. Unfortunately I'm still unable to find universal solution > because of this was made my proposal.

I wanted to be sure, people will read it and it will be clear, why backups from "Backup manager" and also backups from "Maps" screen are placed into subdirectories. And why it? Because I wanted to be sure, that no matter what comes in future, all data will be in same place like data that are stored in your device. It will be then also easier to restore them. ON next days I plan to start work on feature "Add map from Cloud" when app offer available maps stored in "maps" and "mapsVector" subdirectories for easier restore.

What I was afraid of since the day my wife an I started using Locus our geocaching adventures, has finally happened. The GSAK add-on seems to be broken in this latest release :(
The live-import feature stopped working, and manually importing caches from the database does show the normal pop-up counting the caches-to-be-imported, and then it shown a tiny empty dialog for less than a second and nothing happens.
We have used Locus, with the GSAKadd-on, for two years now and we were really, really happy with it. It is without doubt the best option for geocaching there is. Locus as such is great, the add-on geocaching for Locus adds value, but the combination with GSAK was perfect for us.
Just copy a database to your phone and you're ready to go. Accessing geocache information at locations without internet is no problem. While making a long daytrip across Europe you can see all geocaches along the route even if you change plans, and there's no limit to the number of geocaches it shows (as long as they are in your database). Need I say more ;)
In the past, I have looked into the code of the add-on, hoping I might be able to bring it back to live once it would die. However I have no experience in developing for Android and developing add-ons for Locus. Also I couldn't find any relevant 'beginners' documentation to get started: what IDE to use for Locus add-on development, how to set it up for development of Locus add-ons, how to test an add-on, .... Without that there's no hope I can fix this myself in the minimal amount of time I can spent on it.
For now we hope it is a little unintended issue in the latest release, which will be fixed in the next one. If it's the definitive end of the GSAK add-on, we're in trouble :(

no need to worry. It looks like some new problem in Locus Map, not in add-on itself (it has it's own troubles). Same issue already reported here http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/import-with-gsak-addon-do-not-work and I'll definitely look on it during next days.
During next week will be published bug-fix version 3.29.1, so sorry for a few days without this feature.

I bought the Kompass Sauerland map - download does not start. Edit: tried the other Sauerland map, now used 700 coins. What it does: I tap on "Download", progress bar appears for a short time, then download button appears again, nothing happened.

- if i set a offline world map and display it on e.g. ZL7, close locus and reopen it > no worldmap is set :-[
- if i use "world-1-9-OAM" map and zoom in and out quickly sometimes locus hang on ZL9. After a while popup apeares report/wait/close. This behavior didn´t appear with michaels world map "W1-8-MBt"
After restart of locus also no wordd map is selected.

Hi. With today's .1 non-beta release, if you get the Store's message "No internet connection", you can't escape. You have to either shut down Locus forcibly, or re-enable the internet. (I even tried searching for "exit", but that didn't work. ;D)
Is the basic world map available anywhere other than by a search for "world"? I couldn't find it.
(I had some weird things happening by switching between the OAM world map, an online world map, and my - older? - LoMap world map. Probably a caching issue. So I cleaned things out by deleting and - after a wee search - re-downloading the LoMap world map. Now it works well, and the basic level of info is perfect for me, thanks.)

Well, there are a number of world maps, with different use case and focus of information. Changing us very cumbersome deep down in options tree.

I'm still not convinced Michael :). I believe that World map is not something you use daily. Durring common usage, you won't see world map at all. Also current options which map choose? Really limited. Presets should serve for really really needed and often changing settings ... thanks for understanding.

I have just tried out the new world map feature and in my case it makes my phone (galaxy S4, android 5) crash when zooming in. I´ve tried it with 2 world maps (my own google maps tile map and the world 1-9 Map) with the Germany south vector map from the locus store. As soon as I zoom in past the point where it should change from world map to vector map locus freezes and then crashes. This does not happen always, but most of the time.
Zooming out does not seem to cause any problems.
Hmm and by "crash" it means that device really display error that "App was terminated" or just "Application not responding" with wait/close option? If first case, that app really crash completely, then log made by this method (http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log) should be useful.

It´s not a big problem to me, just wanted to report it in case other people have the same problem.
It does not terminate the app, it just says that it´s not responding and gives me the option to wait / close / report after about 30 seconds to a minute. I pressed wait a couple of times, but the app stays frozen.

you are correct, right after start, this does not work. Not a serious problem I believe, anyway for our testing purposes, definitely unexpected. Seems that if you turn GPS on and then turn off, it will be fixed. I've also found why this happen so consider it fixed, thanks

exactly as @Andrew wrote. It is replacement for attribution previously wrote as a long text. It have to be visible on map to follow necessary terms of use for most of maps. But for some maps, texts started to be too long, on smaller devices almost three lines long, so I made this solution.
Thanks Andrew for a screenshot. I saw similar weird ghosts around icon on my 4.x device and I thought it is some 4.x Android devices problem only, seems not. I'll try to fix it.

from your code... which turns the thing into a thirty-second-fix. It's named "elevation gain" already anyway... and having a single correct gain value would still be a lot better than Locus current phantasy.

Long story again, just for completeness: Altitude gain and altitude loss are too very distinctive and very different things. Presenting them as one single value by adding absolute amounts is nothing but major nonsense... for any activity one can possibly imagine.

I think that while navigation the arrival-time or time2target is a bit strange IMHO.
Mostly the time is way too early or short and seems to be extrapolated by the current speed, not averaged or sort of weighted speed.
I recognised this several times, still since some 3..4 months think so.
I am using brouter and graphhopper, don't know if some precalculated times or informations are exchanged or used, like road type or limitations between navigation-hints,or some sophisticated calculations are used at all (number of direction changes, distances between hints, % of distance and average speed, vehicle, speed variations, daytime conditions,..)

time values, Locus big problem. Speed used for these calculations is based on long term average (more then last hour) for current activity, so these crazy value should not happen. Maybe if you send me "backup of settings" ( on jiri.mlavec@asamm.com email ), I should be able to check which values are used in your case and why result is so weird, thanks!

but track waypoints..IMHO the list-view/overview is still limited in informations to me:
- no numbering on the very left
- no number/amount of all waypoints
- only details after clicking on a single point: to start, to end - not within the list
- maybe % (reg. tracklength)
..and sure, I got a 'big' display (OnePlus3, 5,5" 1920px x 1080px)

I recognise that my recorded bike-tracks don't have 'waypoints' at all (maybe becaus of lack of navigation/routing-infos)..but useless laps instead..hmm..maybe I used a wrong setting while recording.

I can confirm that I also have on several occasions got world map stuck at ZL9 when attempting to go to ZL10.
I think I have gone to a lower zoom and moved the map first but I can't reproduce the bug on demand. I am using "world-1-9-OAM".
I'd call it serious as it locks Locus. Typically I only use low zooms like this to move the map rapidly to a different location, which appears to be the conditions to cause the bug to appear.

I agree with combined uphill/downhill value being basically useless.
And yeah, the waypoint list could be made more useful. I'm also missing multiselect, e.g. for deleting several waypoint at once - just like you can multiselect/select-all in the normal points list.
And speaking of waypoints, you might also be in favor of this idea: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/track-editor-add-waypoint-directly
Right now, adding waypoints "after the fact" is quite tedious... So please vote there, I already convinced Menion that the proposal makes sense ;)

Icons are mainly usable for a folders, so I was thinking about it like a "folder with related activities". So I'm on vacation in Alps and have a week of bouldering, so I create a new folder with this icon and short trips and activities place here. Similar with others ... is it an bad idea?

I found interesting problem. I frequently use tracks and points from "map items". When I tap on such track or point, it is not possible to hide it with drop-down menu, but it would be nice.
Even more, if I made copy of map items track, storing it in internal database, then I can't hide it with drop down menu too, but recorded tracks can be hidden without any issues.
And also, when I made copy of map items point, I can hide this point from drop-down menu, and map items point is also hidden! After that I delete copied point and original point still remains hidden! I look in left "map items" menu and all points must be visible, I reset and again set visibility settings of hidden point in this menu with no luck. The only method to show this point is to unload and then load file from map items menu.

in route planner occasionally if I touch the screen too loong appears the "infopoint message" with Street Place etc. There is no way to make it disappear in a simple way in the case it's unwanted.
Something like swipe away should be perfect.

in this case, "back" button on bottom panel should help.
Same system as in Route planner is used also on main map screen, but understand, there is no such problem like tap somewhere on map to hide label, which simply start new compute.

Hiding of points and tracks in case of KML file is more complicated. I have to say that I have small mess in code that work with these files, anyway I was able to make it work at least for a tracks now.
About other issues with hiding etc. I believe I have an reason of this behavior, so consider as solved, thank you!

Regardless, I'm all for more icons, even if some activities don't seem to make sense. But for me, most do. Point in case: Bouldering - of course the bouldering itself is probably not recorded as track. But in the mountains, you'll often have an approach, so you want a track folder with your trips to boulder spots. Makes perfect sense to me.
Having said that, I can do without tennis ;D@Menion: While you're at it: Could you add some kind of icon for "Mixed" or "Undefined"? When travelling, I often have tracks where I walk, take the bus, etc. but it doesn't make much sense to cut the track into pieces. Right now, I use the Couch icon, but that doesn't really fit... Perhaps a simple question mark...
One more thing about the icons:
Why are the "Locus (Track)" icons hardcoded only for tracks? Many of those would make perfect sense for folders in the Points section. Even "Tennis" would make more sense there. I don't see a good reason to restrict the user here...
If you are interested, check this web site: https://thenounproject.com/ . There is a lot of nice icons and if find some useful that, with its style, match current style in Locus, let me know and I'll consider adding it to the list (I've purchased account to middle of March).
Why only tracks? idea is to keep the united style for track folders with simple black & white icons mostly related to activities. It is then easier to distinguish these folders from point folders.

3.29.2.2 - now expired but can't exit - reverts to Locus free then exit msgbox asks "do you want to buy Pro now" - Cancel or Buy buttons. Tap Cancel ==> only returns to map screen. There is no way to just exit?? (other than task manager of course)

If Locus left in background with opened route planner to terminate by system, on next launch opens directly to route planner, but maps not initialised (blank).

Today, a couple of hours ago, a new beta was tested on an Android 4.3 device and there were no problems. I thought it was slower map loading, but it could have been caused by frost -10 ° C.
CZ: Dnes při několikahodinové turistice vyzkoušena nová beta na zařízení s Android 4.3 a žádné problémy nebyly. Zdálo se mi sice pomalejší načítání map, ale to mohlo být způsobené mrazem -10 ºC.

Hi. Here's another minor bug in most recent non-beta version. (Hardly seems worth a separate bug report.)
- With GPS off, tap Home button (lower left). Confirm it shows recent position, your home/office/wherever.
- Tap a nearby geocache.
Result: mini-map shows some ridiculous distance to the cache, eg 10434km. Also, (C) and arrow are superimposed.
Problem Dark Sky Weather in BETA-Version 3.29.2.3:
It is the same with me, too. Message: Bad Request code 400.
In Pro-Version 3.29.2 it works fine.
Map sticking on ZL9 still happens with new beta. Possibly associated with rapid zooming in(?)

Now, if you only have a mobile connection and try to upload/autoexport a track into a cloud storage, Locus comes back with a message: "1 Track(s) exported"
But there is nothing exported to the cloud storage..... :-[
So I would expect an error message, if nothing is gone to the cloud service.
Ah... one more thing....I wonder about the behavior of the auto export at all. If I remember right, in the past autoexport of a track happens more in the background, track dialog stays open and my latest manual export type was presented in manual export screen.
Today I have to reopen my track details screen to perform a manual export and to reset my last manual export type.
Example step by step
Past:
1. Stop Recording >
2. Autoexport during save to GPX -file at dropbox > Track details screen stays open >
3. Export to STRAVA (Export type reused from last manual export)
Today:
1. Stop Recording >
2. Autoexport during save to GPX -file at dropbox > Track details closed
3. Search track and
4. Reopen track details screen >
5. Switch export setting from "GPX-file at dropbox" to "STRAVA" >
6. Export to STRAVA

About issue with export ... hmm I'm using autoexport to Velohero few times per week and did not noticed any change. Auto-export does not use last parameters, but parameters directly defined in recording profile. So suggest to check if auto-export is correctly set.

Did a little experimenting. It only happens with my tablet, not the phone, and seems related to my switching to a faraway map, then back home again. View Hong Kong (about 10400km away from here), tap home button, suddenly it's showing my home coords, then tap a near-to-home cache.
When I view a Mexico map, then tap home, I get a Mexico-ish distance.
Interestingly, I've got both devices set for auto-load maps and auto-load of any type, but sometimes it'll load my home map, sometimes not. (Home map currently is OAM; I use whichever is most recent.)
This doesn't bother me at all, so I'm happy to ignore it. You might have better things to work on. :)

Settings for auto export are ok. Nothing to bother with.
But what I'm looking for is as follow:
1. Stop Recording
2. Provide "name" and "folder" and save the track
3. After that the "Track-detail" screen for the just saved track should open, so that I can look directly at my data.... and there is no need to search/reopen for the saved track.
I think it works like this in the past...and a friend of mine also confirmed this.

thanks for a description. I'll be watching problem with distance more carefully. About map: it is more complicated here. OpenAndroMaps (other maps then LoMaps), does not currently defined exact coverage so detection if they are or aren't best for certain area is not precise.

Ah I finally understand. So problem is not auto-save feature, but the fact that you want to perform two exports and not just one and track screen does not appear after you save it.
Cannot say for sure, but I expect that users wants to return to map after they stop recording. Definitely more then to do some post-analysis or second export like in your case. Or am I wrong and more people wants to see track statistics after recording more then a map?

Why we do track recording? >>> To keep the data, to look at the staistics, to share or to reuse them later.
So I think it is quite natural, direct after stop and save the recording, to have a look at the new created data, like distance , elevation gain or elevation diagram. This all is shown in the "Track details" screen.
It can be closed by just one click on the back button.
If I need to open the "Track details" manual from the map window it takes me definitive more steps (3-4) depending on the number of tracks overlapping in my current view.
So for my point of view, open the "Track details" screen automatically after saving the track is the smarter way, then returning to map first.

@menion my use-case after stopping track recording is to immediately go to Edit Info for the new track (change name, assign folder, perform export, hide track). I would prefer this flow than returning to the map as currently occurs.

Red toaster message on restarting phone: "Problem with backup directory".
I have all my custom directories set on the external SD card and they work fine apart from the backup directory which seems to lose its permission to access the external card on restarting. If I go into settings, I have to reconfirm permission for Locus to access that directory.

I noticed same problem earlier from one user and if I remember correctly, we were not able to solve it.
How quickly after reboot this problem appear? Locus should check backups one minute after reboot is done, is it correct?

I'm using standard ROM. I don't get a toaster message every time but I think the backup directory fails the test every boot. All the other custom directories are on external SD card and are OK.
After a minute - that's about right, timewise but it does seem very soon after boot. My SD card is probably still initialising then.

- except smaller changes, I made completely new system how Locus Map use system GPS. It's based on latest suggestions and also use Google Play services if they are available in your system (if not, older system is used). After testing by three users, I have really positive feedback on app stability even with disabled optimizations in system on Android 7 and 8. If you had any troubles with disabling app or GPS during recording, definitely give it a try and let me know!
Auto-GPS off and NMEA recording feature should be also working (not yet perfectly tested).

Hi Menion, why in the last beta do not set the interval at 0 for auto-off? This was useful when I wanted to reset gps for an inaccuracy of 100 m.

First test of new GPS on A3 android 7. Accuracy is much higher in beta than in PRO version. In the room by the window PRO 7-11 satellites, but the accuracy is only 60-70 m. BETA also 7-11, but accuracy 15-20 m. Fix is also half faster.

you set a "sleep time" to 0? If it was possible before, then auto-off probably never worked because min. usable value was really set to 10 seconds. This function should really be used for "sleeping of GPS in defined intervals", not for a reseting etc.

@menion Dropbox link sent. There was no red toaster this time, but permission for the backup directory on external SD is lost on reboot (always). I set the backup directory to external SD, restarted Locus, checked backup directory is set OK, exit Locus, restart phone, start Locus, check whether backup directory is set, see directory name is in red, tap on that, am offered permission screen for the directory on external SD I set before, press OK, repeat etc.

Last Sunday, my usual training ... exactly same recording profile, same audio-coach, same chest sensor as usually .... blue line.
Today, as usually all exactly same. Maybe little better weather then last week. Unfortunately I had to run almost 400 metres! more to get my required distance. At home I was looking why ... check screenshot .. green line.
Difference? New beta version with new system for handling of GPS. End of crazy curvy records? Seems that this new method also contains useful filtering of location that predict GPS location. This is really really good news!!

App icon of Free(Beta) on playstore is new/different to app icon on my device, how can i get it on my device?
Hehe, do you like it? We are currently testing few types of icons only on Google Play. Final change will be applied probably during April on all places. Reason? Have icon that better represent hike & bike style of app, and that does not look on first sight like a car navigation.

Auto-OFF in PRO version works with zero value. Why not get rid of GPS reset capabilities? Is there any other function?
The test of the new GPS in BETA has taken place today without any problems. On Android 4.2. i to 7.0. Fix to 7.0 is significantly faster and accuracy higher, otherwise the record is the same.

Icon ... next month ;). And yes, there will be probably identical icon for both app versions and in device will return back old separation by Locus Map FREE and Locus Map PRO title.
GPS ... it is more complicated, but I'll tell it simple:
- old system was completely manual. So app requested location from network providers (BTS stations, wi-fi) or GPS and then get it. From both sources separately. How app did it was completely on developer. Received data was raw, unfiltered.
- new system use Google Play services in your device(s). This system has inner "secret" logic and as a developer, I have close to zero chance to influence it. Locus now say to system, give me best location you are able every second. And that's all. It is almost impossible to say, if received location is from GPS or Wi-fi (so app now only guess by frequency of change etc.). It is also not possible to compare precision, because probably only Google devs known exact method how accuracy was computed. So best to compare by where you see a spot on the map, not by some virtual "accuracy" number, or coloured accuracy circle! Also satellites ... consider them only as an "interesting" information, but not as precise exact info. If wanted, I may explain more later. Important it, how useful will be results from this and my first few impressions are really positive.
How my explanation is clear.

About GPS .. if was previously possible to set value "0", it was definitely a bug. May you explain to me, why to set value "GPS update interval = 0"? Because this value a) with such value, auto-off is disabled (it was disabled also before), b) such value make no sense! "GPS update interval" say, how long Locus Map puts GPS to sleep. Because this feature was made to save some battery, optimal value is more then a minute!
In lastest beta chart in track detail's window shows distance in axes X about two times longer than track's distance is. The pro version shows correct values

more sats and accuracy is slightly better (7m compared to 10m), although Beta has slightly higher signal strength on some bars and some green sats (I never seen green in Pro). Just initial view, not very scientific. Android 5.1.

Setting auto-off so that GPS does not turn off based on time, but on the basis of inaccuracies or long FIX time, the Xperia M could be used. The GPS has stopped from nothing and mostly helped to turn it off and on again. This could be done by using the auto-off feature. I understand it's not her main job, but why not use it?
CZ: Nastavení auto-off tak, aby se GPS nevypínala na základě času, ale na základě nepřesnosti či dlouhého času FIX se hodilo třeba u Xperia M. U ní se GPS z ničeho nic zastavila a většinou pomohlo její opětovné vypnutí a zapnutí. Na to by se dala takto oklikou využít funkce auto-off. Chápu, že to není její hlavní funkce, ale proč to nevyužít?
Error editing record profiles in BETA. PRO version is OK. Once the recording profile has been edited, the 0 second recording interval will always appear on the summary screen. I am applying SCR.
1) create a new "experiment" profile with a time of 5 seconds
2) appears in the summary 5 seconds correctly
3) adjust the time to 15 seconds
4) the time is displayed in 0 seconds
5) When editing the profile, the time is 15 seconds correctly
Still a question. Why am I advising that the minimum value is 10 when editing the distance of the recorded point? A distance of about 4 meters is appropriate for walking.
CZ: Chyba při editaci záznamových profilů v BETA. Ve verzi PRO je to v pořádku. Po editaci záznamováho profilu se na souhrnné obrazovce vždy ukáže interval záznamu 0 sekund. Příkládám SCR.
1) vytvoření nového profilu "pokusny" s časem 5 s
2) v souhrnu se správně zobrazí 5 s
3) upravím čas na 15 s
4) v souhrnu se zobrazí čas 0 s
5) při editaci profilu je čas správně 15 s
Ještě otázka. Proč jsem při editaci vzdálenosti zaznamenávaného bodu upozorňován na to, že minimální hodnota je 10? Přitom třeba pro chůzi je vhodná vzdálenost okolo 4 metrů.

I really believe that your use-case with GPS auto-off can't work as it is made now. In app is simple check condition: if time is 0, disable it. End of discussion. If this worked before differently, it was definitely mistake.

And 10 m ... it is only a warning. 1 hour of walk with 4 m/s = 3600 trackpoints. Few hours ... crazy number of unneeded trackpoints. Because of this warning exists.

The beta seems to obtain satellite lock a little quicker than Pro. I just did a 100km ride; identical to last week; Pro track last week, beta this week; 30m point intervals; no significant difference between the two tracks I can spot with quite detailed check in Garmin Basecamp.

Satellite screen. Three dots / setting / sensors / compass. When selecting Auto Change, the Set button does not work. The remaining two options are functional.

I got stuck in an endless loop here. I had just downloaded the bike navigation cursors from the Store. Both the Locus back arrow and the phone back button took me back one screen, but Locus then reloaded the displayed page. This has now happened to me twice when visiting the Store. This time a quick double tap on the back button worked.
And finally, lock up at ZL9 world map continues to bug me.

this specific error message may be a problem. Seems you were not logged and you tapped on top right user icon that should start login process, right? Error say, that Android system (Google Play services), had for some reason problem with your login. I've already prepared new version, so this error will remain in app, but thanks anyway.
Problem with "endless loop". Next version 3.30.0 will hopefully solve this (I was fighting with it for almost a day and I'm still not sure if it's solved, we will see).
Problem with stuck during zoom ... as I wrote, it needs more time. Anyway I at least did small improvement (that may help).
And ... new version 3.30.0 just uploading, uff.
