This version crashes right at startup. One strange thing was that LocusPro got a strange android icon with "sd" marking on it. I did a fresh install and now it seems okay.

Hi guys,
seems that Android studio (app from Google for developing applications) generated some weird version of Locus Pro that caused random crashes. I was searching almost two hours and found only some partially useful information from a few people that had in past similar experience.
So I wants to excuse to @Masterijn and other people affected by crash at start of app. I've just published new version 3.10.1, where are almost no changes, with hope, it will works correctly :/. Such issues are really stupid ...
Can't wait, my version doesn't crash, you just cannot select anything. Good old Google.

Had the same crash issue. Un-installed and re-installed: icon is correct, work correctly. Do not forget to backup settings before this exercise ...

I had similar problem with recent betas on install, update failed from store more times saying not enough memory in device (not true) or other errors. I think the package compiler may be somehow broken, too much garbage in package root. Icon shows correct on Locus 3.10.x

Hard day, please kill me, hot outside, hot inside and whole day searching for a unexisting solution of crashes. In the end, some modification of special parameters in external library (that caused this mess) seems that do, what we need. So new version is finally on Google Play and during an hour should be really for download. I really really hope it will works, because I was not able to test it (I had no such problem on my devices).

Even though I got Locus working again with a reinstall earlier in the day. Thought I would take a leap of faith (after logging my days finds and a backup ) with the update on Play Store.
Menion you may sleep tonight as there were no problems in the update and testing all the functions I use for Geocaching nothing but good results.

- set endpoint (with or without viapoint)
- store permanently is not checked
- select e.g. fast
track is created and navigation started :)
if locus is closed now, or i "guide to" another POI, the created track is cached and visible even after restart of locus, till i start a new "navigate to" or click "remove temp items"

Map themes are gone in the latest beta. Function in Quick Settings does not offer ANY theme. No internals, no custom ones.
And the theme slider on the left hand screen side does not appear either. Resetting all settings does not help.
Earlier beta worked fine until yesterday incl. Then I updated ...
The latest PRO version on the same Galaxy shows all the Themes that are installed. So the "hard facts" (theme directory content) on the Galaxy are perfectly OK.

Themes work for me in both pro and latest beta. I had trouble following the previous beta update until I carefully checked all the data directories. I found my settings didn't make sense, and couldn't understand how Locus had worked before with directories set as they were. Something changed in the ability of Locus to "guess" the correct directory (or possibly for the beta version to look in the pro version's settings or directories).

One of the recent beta version (at least last two) broke long tap on map... doesnt work any longer... nothing shows up... no bubble... no address... nothing. Latest pro still works fine.

@balloni55, @joeloc: hmm another update of Google Support library and seems that blocked hack I did before ... sorry, forget on menu key for now, seems that Google tries to block it at all costs. Joeloc .. no long tap? I already answered this to You somewhere. There is no known bug around long tap .. do you have enabled "Address search" in settings? ... ah see that gynta already added same suggestion.
@jusc: hmm Locus should ask only in case, all sources for location are disabled in your device
@gynta: hmm so badges with numbers are still not perfect on smaller devices ... anyway better then previous version :)

Of course I am on the correct place, all other maps are correct shown. With all betas before the OA summer was shown (as in Locus pro).

There is a difference between the normal OA map and the summer/winter maps!
The normal OA maps are displayed on- and offline.
Online summer map is not allowed without paying so you you can not look at it.
Only my payed and downloaded summer maps are empty since the latest Locus beta version.

Why? hmm because of useless new counter ;). I also wanted to united style used for small icons inside icons, like when you add points/tracks, there is a small "+" button in bigger icon, etc.

After looking into the store (it showed my correct profile) the summer maps are shown again :-)
If I remember I had almost the same problem with an earlier beta update and you gave the same tip (I forgot it as usual).
Perhaps you could write some lines of code to do this automatically :-)

Hmm jup ... weird is that you do not see any error message on tiles. Maps are encrypted with some information from Locus Store, that is why it do not work without it. I'll try to improve this, thanks and sorry for a complications!

Uff, I've just spend almost two days on work with new SD card system on Android 5.x ... and seems that support for SRTM/HGT files on SD card is done. Have to say, that system from Google may be usable for small apps and may work quite well when you (as developer) start work on a new application ... but in case of Locus it is really a nightmare. Nevermind, I'll try to do same for Locus/mapsVector during next days (maybe weeks), hope it will work.

Please don't forget support for .gh files on ext SD card as well.
We should be able to put all bulk data on ext sd card to save precious space on the internal one.

Yes, that's true but doesn't do what I want it to do, I still want to have my Locus folder in the default internal location but want to have all the data Locus only needs to read on the external one, please refer to

I have Locus in main memory, that is, not moved to external SD. That allows me to use the Locus widget.
I set the Locus root directory to be on the external SD. That has drawbacks, not least that all the data is deleted if I ever uninstall Locus but I can live with that. You don't have to do that.
I created a directory on the external SD named LocusMaps and set custom directories for vector maps etc as subdirectories of that, using settings>miscellaneous>default directories
I moved relevant data to those directories including the GraphHopper routing folder. So I have a directory mapsVector/british-isles-gh
And it works.
New BETA - 3.10.3.7 version is out
I spend whole week on understanding and implementing of new "write to SD card" system from Google. Result it that on 5.0 devices, you may set your backup, mapsVector and data/srtm directories to SD card with full write access. Anyway because this change changed so huge part of Locus, I'm worried about some troubles even during common usage from internal memory or older devices. So everything weird report please, thank you and enjoy weekend!

Most things I tried did work, Menion. Except one FC I found: add a point, get elevation, select download. Crash, if you have Android 4.4 and the SRTM directory is on ext. SD card (i.e. readonly)

- also not possible in opened geocache "cache update", "guide on" "navigate to" "Compass" and so on

it seems that's all the same problem.
Problem with showing of active tracks: active tracks aren't visible after Locus start until I open tracks manager to verify track is selected and close.

@gynta: ignore factor on Dropbox is more then possible as my PC do not notify me about any new files etc. and I personally do not use Dropbox anymore. Anyway I see two main issues in Dropbox, with 3.5 vs 2.4 km radius and with sorting. and so it is for me temporary and not furthermore available on next start of locus.

Yes, here too. It is a little annoying because of mobile plan.
Just downloaded the latest and re-tested the altitude file download to SD-Card under Android 4.4. No error message from Locus, rather FC is still there.
@balloni55: hmm "closing locus" - here depend how you close Locus anyway I really do not see a problem here. But! when you start guidance to waypoint while guidance/navigation to temporary track was active, then you are absolutely correct. Temporary track remains on map => stupid. I'll try to improve it to next version, thanks!
@balloni55, @tramp20: "annoying because of mobile plan" - do not understand. From what I understand, balloni wrote only that map manager display after update "online" tab and not previously used tab, right? Have no idea why this happen btw. :). But it has nothing to do with access to internet.

a little flaw in this GPS screen:
as long as I have no fix there is almost always shown a precision/accuracy >0 m.

Hmm but these values may be correct. You probably see on a map green circle with your location. This value is received from wi-fi/BTS and accuracy value is reported by Android itself.

Is someone missed it - Version 3.10.3.9 is out.
Feel free to report any issues you find. Release is planned to Sunday so two more days to testing. I'm leaving in second half of August on second vacation, for now longer (10 days), so next version will be in late September.
@menion: I don't know. This happened on previous beta but on this beta not yet, so ignore it.

Locus beta 3.10.3.9 on LGL24(a variant of LG G3, android 4.4), tapping popup menu doesn't work at all. Please fix.
Thanks @ta-ka. All is because of this task http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/android-menu-not-visible , so I believe, when you disable fullscreen mode, all popups will work correctly right? I'll have to revert to previous version because better working popups with small bottom software buttons then opposite. Thanks!
