Just a tiny improvement:
It would be useful to have the option of, if changing a category icon, applying the new icon property to all points of that group.
Also it would be nice to be able to customize icons.

- if you change icon of category (by editing category in category screen), all points in this category change icon
- and customize icons? You mean your own? Just pack your icons into zip file and place it into locus/icons directory

Just tried changing a category icon, but it seems that only points that where created within Locus, change their icon automatically. Not the ones that where imported from a Google Earths kml file.

that's correct
every database has it's own icon, you define. All points in category have ability to have defined also own icon. When there is no icon defined, than these points takes icon from category. When is defined (you define manually later, geocaches or usually KML files with style tag - your case) own icon, category icon have no influence on this. You may check your KML file. It will for sure contain <style> attribute at points that will define own icon
