Title: Show Name and Altitude of POI
Post by: Skater on August 27, 2011, 08:15:40
Is there a possibilty to show name <name> and altitude <ele> on screen? (not on CustomScreen)
Beside the point on the map?
It should be for all points apply!
Both as well as: POI and Tracks, but also the possibilty to enable or disable

how do you think it should look like? As a text when you hover with center point over POI? Elevation values are visible just when you tap on point

As a text beside the point.
Therefore i can see the information without taping on screen.
I can see the information from all points and
I can decide where I want to go in an unknown area.
Certainly, can I use an icon, to narrow the point, but a name and altitude would be an advantage.
-> name and/or altitude (mostly)
Track -> it makes only sense by far points
Maybe useful

I'm on the road in the mountains, therefore, the altitude, poi and current location is always important.
-> Mountain Hut, Alp or 'emergency shelters'

This might noy be what Skater wishes, but I want to see the closest POI name in a separate field with larger font than normal.
This function could be tied to the proximity alert, the alert could have a setting "Nearest" in addition to the current distance.

there was similar request before as I remember. I'll probably add this as ability to custom screen

about altitude, i'll think about it and probably it will be selectable option in settings in future versions

I was looking for almost exactly this functionality but with recorded track points. As I'm recording my tracks everyday with different means of transport, I would like to just hover over any point of the track and see it's properties just next to it:
- Distance from beginning
- Altitude
- Speed
- Accuracy

The point name can be skipped, because it is always 'Point X' so there is no need to show it.

The perfect situation will be to have the options to configure this 'table' of properties. Just to turn on the desired ones.

Is this feature already implemented? I could not find it (Sorry, I am new to Locus).

Perhaps it is possible for Locus to read
<gpxx:DisplayMode>SymbolAndName</gpxx:DisplayMode>

in the gpx-file and follow this wish.

regards, Michael

Hello Spartaner,

as well as your second question in different topic, such feature is also not supported in Locus. Visibility of labels is affected only by one global settings in menu > Settings > Map - objects & styles > Show labels.

There is currently no possibility to define content of these labels on map
